As of the time I am writing this, the Challenge Cup contestants have already been decided which are the West Kendall Platoon and the Los Angeles Panthers. My gut feeling is that West Kendall would throw a lead but the Panthers have done the same a few times before. However this is a brand new finals as both teams haven't exactly made it this far in a very long time. I think that the Panthers are better equipped to gain the early lead in the series, once the first two games are completed, generally the losing team will be forced to make line changes in order to compete again. In the situation I described, I think the West Kendall Platoon will actually come back from their deficit and win in a game 7, likely losing one home in Florida. I would say that I am going to watch this series but I'm definitely not lmao.

I’ll make a wild guess for the playoff between the Dragons and the Jets. Both teams had a streak for good season recently and their rosters are filled with awesome combination of players. For the Dragons, Joe Kurczewski will be a key player and he will get the most game winning goals of the series. However, he will not be enough to stop the Jason Vissier / Corey Bearss combo of the jets. In the end, I’m predicting that the Jets will win their matchup in 6 games versus the Dragons.
I think the MVP player of those game will be Richard C. Hocolate from Calgary. The Dragons and the Jets will score a good amount of goals, we’ll see a lot of 5 to 3 and others high scores like this. Since I think there will be a strong offense on both side, the one making my prediction true will be the Dragon’s goaler who, while making no perfect match, will bring the victory to his team. ![]() Registered Senior Member
Written Task: In at least 150 words, make some bold predictions for the first round (or second, if we are well into it for the back half of this PT being open) and justify your choices. Who do you think will win the series? Who will be the most important players from each team? Will there be any upsets? The question is open-ended, so simply put, what do you have to say about this season’s playoff matchups? Must mention at least two playoff teams.
Well at the time of this writing there are only 2 teams left in the playoffs. The Panthers and Platoon have made it to the finals after the Panthers won in 7 and the Platoon won in 6. Now who wins this series, well to me it’s going to be the Panthers. They knocked off the best team in the league in the Jets and were a better team overall in the regular season. The Platoon will come up empty handed and be sent home as the losing team in the championship, watching the Panthers win it all. The Platoon will only score 5 goals while the Panthers score 3 times that, scoring 15 times in the final matchup of the season. The Platoon might steal a game, but they are outmatched by the Panthers and the Panthers will claim the title, with most players on the Panthers contributing in some way, like Johnson blocking shots, Wachter passing the puck, and Marmaledov saving everything in sight. So as of this writing, it would appear that the finals have already been decided and it has come down to the West Kendall Platoon in the Eastern Conference and the Los Angeles Panthers in the Western Conference. I believe that the Panthers will knock off the Platoon and emerge victorious. They’re both really good teams but the Panthers have a big advantage with their offensive prowess, boasting two 60+ point players and two 50+ point players, one being a defenseman compared to the Platoon’s two 50+ point players. The Platoon pushes back though with the upper hand in goaltending with Beaujeaux Biscuit who shines over the competition with an impressive 0.910 Save % and 2.86 GAA. Biscuit will play a major role against the offensive onslaught that the Panthers will bring. The Panthers will definitely be counting on the success of their top goal scorers, Maximillian Wachter and Jean-Luc Reflieux who I’m sure won’t waste any time finding the back of the net. I have no doubt that it will be a thrilling series.

I'm going to talk about the finals matchup, the Platoon vs the Panthers, since I'm within the deadline. My bold prediction would be that this finals will go eitherway in game 7. Both teams have something to prove with West Kendall being criticized as a bubble team that does not have enough to bring it home and the Panthers coming off a bad season after losing to the Chiefs in the S39 Finals. It will be a dog fight with both teams having a very rich history of class and past success. The most important players from each teams would be Alex Light and Sophia Bennett, who are both elite scoring wingers and will be counted on in clutch moments. Looking at both teams on paper, people would say the Platoon might just pull out with the rings but the Panthers are a juggernaut too, and you cant forget they just knocked out the jets, who were cup favorites.
Doubt is a dream killer

Well, I put this off until the last day I could possibly do it, and consequently, the finals matchup has already been set. So I'm going to talk about that.
In my opinion, the Panthers are going to take the series in a hard-fought seven games. Both teams have a lot on the line, with the matchup being labeled #droughtbowl due to how long it's been since they last won championships. However, I think the Panthers will show a little bit more grit and aggression, coming out of the West after defeating two strong rosters in Edmonton and Winnipeg. While the Platoon have put in a great deal of effort to make it out of the East, frankly, the matchup difficulties aren't quite the same. I think if the Panthers were capable of winning the West, they'll have what it takes to take their Cup from the Platoon. They'll need stars such as Yuri Boyka Jr. and Sophia Bennett to show up big in this series, and if the Platoon want to prove this prediction wrong, they're going to need young vets such as Mikko Linna and Alex Light to put in the work to pull it off. Now that we are set for teams in the finals, I can boldly say that I think West Kendall Platoon and Los Angeles Panthers will be contenders for the Challenge Cup. I don't have much to base this on. Honestly, if you told me they would both make the finals, I'd at least be skeptical about Los Angeles. It's exciting to have two new teams make an appearance over say Winnipeg, Calgary, Minnesota. I might have preferred to see Buffalo make the finals, but West Kendall is good too.
On a team flush with rookies, Los Angeles had better be getting plenty of contribution from them. With seven rookies on their roster, they will have to step it up from their current production. Woodcroft Jr. is doing pretty well right now with 10 points in their 14 playoff games, but Los Angeles has another four rookies zero to one points in total and then another three non-rookie players with the same! You can't hope to win a Challenge Cup Final with seven players scoring one points or fewer. I do lean more heavily toward West Kendall in this matchup. Coming into the finals, it's fun to see two teams who haven't won the cup in awhile, and especially to see the Platoon making it to the finals for the first time in over a decade. Both teams have fairly young goaltenders, a season apart, although the younger of the two - Beaujeaux Biscuit (WKP) - is starting to show his potential as looks like the more veteran player compared to the slightly older Evgueni Marmeladov (LAP). Both looked solid during the regular season, although Biscuit was the one to shine, finishing high on the leader board for both SV % and GAA alongside more experienced competition. In the playoffs, Biscuit has slipped slightly, but his team has still been playing extremely well, and I'd expect to see his stats improve a bit in the finals if he can return to his regular season form. The Panthers have been shooting slightly more than the Platoon in the postseason, but I'd expect Biscuit to be able to stop the shots, and continue to give West Kendall the edge in goals scored. Marmeladov also needs curb his tendency to take penalties - for a goalie, a penalty every few games is not a great look - if he wants to have any chance of winning his team the cup.

My bold prediction for the second round is, the Panthers feast on the Jets. The Jets were the best team in the SHL regular season. But, I always think the teams who come in 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the division are almost more ready than the presidents trophy team. Why? Because every other team had to fight for every point they got. Winnipeg was the best team in the league this season. The Panthers came second in the league. However, Winnipeg were first in goals for, having 35 more goals than LA this season. The Jets were also first in goals against, allowing 15 less goals than the Panthers. The Jets are the clear cut favourites in this series, but I have a feeling the Panthers will shock the world. The Panthers fought a hard 7 games against the Blizzard. They have fought hard this season, and that is something the Jets have not done. They’re so good, it’s automatic. We will find out what happens once they face some adversity against the Panthers. The most important player for the Panthers will be Marmeladov. He doesn’t need to steal games himself against the powerhouses, but he will need to keep the Panthers in every game.

Since I forgot about this PT, we are now in the Finals. Preparing for a series between LA and West Kendall, it should be a hard fought battle from both sides, so seeing this series make it to 7 games won't be surprising. Although, that isn't what my prediction is, I consulted the way the change fell out of my pocket, and it pointed to LA beating West Kendall in 6 games. The first 3 games will go LA's way, and West Kendall will mount a valiant effort, but with inevitability fall short. It's unfortunate for them, but The cup is going to be in the West for another season. I don't know any players on either team off the top of my head, but as per usual, the luck of the goaltenders will prevail. Wasty's sim knowledge is going to be a solid advantage, and LA has always had a beast of a team, it's about time they added a cup ![]() ![]() Registered S18, S23, S27, S34, S37, S46 Challenge Cup Champion ![]() Banned whoa, hey guys. welcome to EB Games
Alright so the first round had passed so I can't really talk about that in my PT so I'll talk about my predictions for the finals.
The finals will be played between the Los Angeles Panthers and the West Kendall Platoon. Would I say I've expected these teams to make the Finals? Los Angeles probably, they have put up strong teams in recent years and have a cup to show for it. Meanwhile, you can say that I never expected the Platoon to make the finals let alone the playoffs. The Platoon have been perrenial losers for years on end and it was expected that they would be rebuilding after losing many of their star players a few seasons back. That being said, I think this is the year the Platoon to break their championship drought and pull off the massive upset against the Panthers. I think the most important players on both sides are Jean-Luc Refelix and Leafer Rielly for both teams. Refelix has the playoff experience for the Panthers and has lead them to the cup previously. While Leafer is a leathal scorer who can steal games for any team. At the end of the day, I think Leafer will be more of an influence for the Platoon and will lead them to the challenge Cup. ![]() Registered Senior Member ![]() ![]() Let's take a look at the second round match up between Winnipeg Jets vs the Los Angles Panthers, when you take a look at this match up in regards to regular season match ups Jets have this series in the bag. They absolutely dominated the Panthers, I think that the real success in the hands of power houses like Zach Evans & Corey Bearrs. If those two can keep up with how they have produced the last couple seasons then they will have two very solid lines to play against the Panthers. But you can't count the Panthers out that quick they have found their grove in round 1 and the goaltending as been incredible, they have two very solid lines that can both produce on a given night and usually when one is the other one isn't so that can come in handy. I am very looking forward to this series it is going to be a very good test for the Panthers and a very good shot at the Cup if they can get past the Jets for some of these old boys. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Registered S45, S48, S49 Challenge Cup Champion
My bold prediction is that the Montreal Militia will continue their cinderella run in the playoffs to become four star cup champions over the dominant Kelowna Knights. I don't think Montreal will out play Kelowna, I don't think Montreal has more skill than Kelowna, but Montreal certainly has more heart and sometimes that is all it takes to defeat the giant, look at David from biblical times, with his only rock defeating Goliath, and that is why I truly believe that Montreal has what it takes. They simply have too much heart to be taken out after defeating the first seed in the league. I love this team with all my heart and it would be so so sweet to be able to celebrate with this group. I also feel like I owe it to DrunkenTeddy for defeating his team in the semi-finals. Piotr Czerkawski and Walter Hobbs will lead this team to the promised land.

The playoffs suck ass. 4 seasons in a row, the Winnipeg Jets have dropped out of the playoffs in the second round. Someone throw me a fucking rope eh. Nah, this years finals are exciting as all hell. It's been a long time since these both teams have won the cup and in my eyes, both of these teams deserve the cup evenly. It will be weird to see the West Kendall Platoon win, since I did spend a long ass while over there and I had the chance to rejoin this past offseason. The Los Angeles Panthers though, they don't have that soft spot in my heart. What am I even talking about, West Kendall has to win. I spent more than a year over there, had some amazing teammates and spent an amazing time. Go win it for the ghost of Pejo, Petty, Slappy, Smirnov, Maximova, Schmidt and everyone else.
