I was welcomed into the Carolina Kraken locker room with open arms. Couldn't have asked for a more helpful, supportive, and wholesome community to be a part of. Love all you clowns.
my first impressions were great! after Naomi invited me i was able to nerd out and talk with several recruiters and players. we all helped each other with predictions. my team accepted me with open arms and things have been lots of fun.
My first interaction was running it down with the Montreal Militia. Everyone was basically a rookie and we created our own community. It was a really nice introduction to the league.
For me, it was a well organized and well presented website. Everything was orderly and it had a very nice marketing campaign (thank you reddit). From there, my first interaction was with scouts/gm's from the J for the upcoming draft as well as a couple rookie mentors. The "kids" these days won't know what it was like to not have the awesome player portal and have....capped TPE.

First interactions were done vie the PM system on site as I knew that discord is only ment to be used for VC while playing video games and for that reason I can quite easily look at them. Those were some very basic scouting questions, first good impression I got later on Vancouver discord after the draft.
Your task: Tell me about your first interactions with other SHL users after creating your first player? What were the league's first impressions like?

This PT is for SHL players and send downs only; it is not for SMJHL Rookies. If your player is S76, go do the J task instead.
When I first got to this league. It was very welcoming. My manager is awesome and he was a really good guy and he wanted me on his team because I didn’t get drafted in the SMJHL but he picked me up on waivers and I got big third overall and he was locked on me so that was good.
It was pretty much a bunch of people telling me to roll something else because there's too many goalies. Nothing's changed, and I'm rerolling a goalie again lol.

I created about 13 years ago... so that is a long time, I remember not being picked up and trying to figure out what was going on, eventually a commissioner got a team to pick me up and then i eventually recreated shortly after for the new draft to experience it all, back then the people were relatively nice.

I had a fantastic conversation with @TheDangaZone before and after joining the SHL. Definitely helped shape my expectations and gave me a chance to interact with a user before joining
My introduction was via reddit recruitment, where i asked a couple questions before taking the plunge upon those being answered well. Then it was all about learning how to navigate the portal, forums, indexes, etc. to try and figure out what i was doing. Not to mention being added to 3 discords immediately, a list that has only grown over time. It was a bit overwhelming and a lot to take in. Recruiting for the J took place before i spoke too much with my draft class, and it was mostly boiler plate and friendly people offering to help and answer any questions. I was timid then, and prior to the SHL draft, about how involved i wanted to be but i think ive found the right level for now.
I stuck to the group I knew in Maine and it was a generally good experience and is why I ended up sticking around and turning around to be a max earner.
After creating my first player, my interactions with other SHL users were exhilarating. They welcomed me warmly, offering advice and encouragement. The league's first impressions were positive, with players eager to see what I could bring to the game.
Everybody kind of shut me out and called me names. You’ll never be good enough! They screamed at me. Then coach put me on the ice and they shot pucks at me (I was a defenseman)
That was 5 years ago I can barely remember. I think I was just a bit overwhelmed and was told that Defense was a bad weakness to pick and that I should pick a new one for my rookie build.
