Jim: "Welcome back, hockey fans! This is Jim Roastman, bringing you another exclusive interview as we gear up for an exciting season with the St. Louis Scarecrows. Today, we're catching up with a player who has been a cornerstone of the Scarecrows' defense and is on the brink of making SMJHL history. Jack Booth, entering his fourth and final season with the team, is not only chasing down the shot block record but is also preparing for the next big leap in his career to the SHL. Jack's journey has been nothing short of inspiring, and we're thrilled to get his thoughts on what's been, what's to come, and everything in between."
Jim: “Hey Jack, you’re on the verge of breaking the SMJHL shot block record! How did you get so good at this, and what keeps you motivated to put your body on the line like that?”
Jack Booth: “Blocking shots has always been a big part of my game. It’s tough, but it’s something I really take pride in. Over the years, I’ve worked on positioning and reading plays to get in the right spot. What drives me is knowing that every block helps protect our net and gives us a better shot at winning.”
Jim: “As a veteran on the team, how do you handle leadership both on and off the ice, especially since this is your last season with the Scarecrows?”
Jack Booth: “I’ve really taken on the leadership role, both on and off the ice. On the ice, I try to set a good example, working hard, staying disciplined, and supporting my teammates. I was an alternate captain for the first two seasons, which taught me a lot about leadership. Off the ice, I’m here for my teammates, whether they need advice or just someone to talk to. I want to make sure I leave a positive mark on this team and help the younger guys and gals grow.”
Jim: “Looking ahead to your future with the Montreal Patriotes, how are you getting ready for the transition to the SHL?”
Jack Booth: “It’s something I’ve been working toward for a long time. Physically, I’m focused on staying in shape and building strength to handle the faster pace of the SHL. Mentally, I’m keeping sharp by studying the game and staying positive. It’s all about being ready for that next step when it comes.”
Jim: “Now that you're entering your fourth season, what has been your most memorable moment with the Scarecrows, and how do you think your time here has shaped you as a player?”
Jack Booth: “There have been so many great moments, but one that stands out is our playoff run last season. The intensity, the camaraderie, the support from the fans, it was unforgettable. Of course, defeating Nevada and getting to the second round was the icing on the cake! My time with the Scarecrows has really shaped me as a player. I’ve learned the importance of teamwork, perseverance, and how to handle pressure. It’s been a journey of growth, and I’m grateful for every moment.”
Jim: “With many new and growing players on the team, how are you helping to grow team chemistry and prepare the squad for a successful season?”
Jack Booth: “Team chemistry is crucial, especially with so many newer faces. I’m making an effort to get everyone involved, whether it’s organizing team dinners, workouts, or just hanging out together. On the ice, I’m encouraging open communication so we can trust each other and play as a cohesive unit. The goal is to build a strong foundation that will; be here after me as well as carry us through this season and well into the playoffs!”
Jim: “As we wrap up, it’s clear Jack Booth is a player who really shows determination, leadership, and dedication to his team. Whether he’s blocking shots or guiding younger teammates, Jack is making a mark with the St. Louis Scarecrows. With the season about to start, all eyes will be on him as he aims for records and new heights. Thanks for chatting with us, Jack, and best of luck with your future in the SMJHL and beyond. Fans, stay tuned, this is a journey you won’t want to miss!”

fuck this got moved to invalid, that no one from the media team answered Booth when he asked why, and no one from the media team answered his GM when he asked why?

I'm not entirely sure where the lines of communication got so crossed here but there has definitely been a bit of a breakdown. We reached out to Booth directly and pretty clearly explained our stance and most importantly - we gave them an opportunity to appeal our decision. Where the idea that we didn't speak to Booth came from, I don't know, but that isn't at all what happened. Ask HO for the receipts.
The media team, as it stands now, are doing our best to make a level playing field for all users. AI has been an incredible obstacle that, unfortunately, doesn't have a solution right now. We are learning as we go and we will absolutely make mistakes, we are only human after all. Before this blew up we had already reached out to HO about the volume of AI content and asked for help as to how best to combat it.
We know that the software for AI detection sucks. No, we don't just run articles through a detection software and call it a day. No, I don't take any joy in trying to decipher if an article was AI assisted. I want to give users as much money as possible, not take it away. There is literally no good way to approach the subject, we're going to piss people off no matter what.
If anyone has a fool proof AI detection method please let me know. Better yet, take my job because I didn't sign up for this.

sve7en - I think you are missing an episode here, or simply not telling the truth.
We did explain to Booth why the media team decided to reject the article. Before that, their GM did reach out and we (edit: I) replied that we will handle the matter with their player - nothing against you, Campinkiller, but it is the way people should do it.
In our explanation to Booth, we even opened the door for an appeal, something we never do. They did not reply.
Please be careful when targeting individuals who are volunteering their time for the league with half-truths. I understand that we’re all passionate about what we do here, but I don’t believe that our team or myself deserve to be the subject of personal attacks.

You did not reach out to him until he noticed it was invalidated over a month later. In Mike’s message you guys “offer an appeal” while in the same breath say that you’re content with your decision after looking into it. What would a further appeal to your team have even done here? Anyone with eyes can see the article was not AI generated

In Mike’s message you guys “offer an appeal” while in the same breath say that you’re content with your decision after looking into it. What would a further appeal to your team have even done here? Anyone with eyes can see the article was not AI generated
Can we not be confident in our decision and offer an appeal? The exact same thing could be said about every punishment handed out in the history of the SHL. I reached out to HO about building an appeals process for this reason.
Yeah, we were slow as hell dealing with it. Life happens. I'll own that. But, this is entirely new - universities still haven't figured out a good system for it and you expect us to get it right 100% of the time on a fake hockey website? There isn't a foolproof solution here and we're building processes as we go.
