Well it's not really training alone because during the offseason Nathaniel trains with his personal trainer and his wife usually joins in on the workouts. They are specifically tailored to push Nathaniel to be the best athlete he can be, with his now advanced age it is important that he keeps his endurance up and is able to tweak how he plays to transition into more of a role player. The offseason is the time for mental and physical rejuvination, an ability for the body to heal finally after months of battling. Lingering injuries can be given the time they need to heal fully. So no, this isn't quite along, but he isn't training with other league members. His wife is always quick to push him harder, to lift more, to push the limits, and the trainer keeps a detailed mind for how to mix up the work to keep things fun. Together they make a force to be reckoned with.

Written Option 1 [155 words]

Although last season Tiny Princess trained alone, this season he has decided to take some of his future Steelhawk teammates such as Kim, Greyson, Erik, Enlightened, and Hetaksh. They shall be flying out to the great Latvia, and Tiny Princess’s secret mountain home to train both on the ice, and with the animals. They plan to run 3 on 3s a bunch and will be taking a very broad approach. Every morning starting at 4am, they will be lifting literal tons of weight until about 1pm, where they will then hunt for their own food. Then they go onto the ice and train every skill starting with shooting, then transitioning to defense, and then padding up (with pillows of course) and taking some shots to the face (we miss the pads on purpose). We shall do that until about 3:59am, where we will then hit the hay for a nice one minute of sleep.

Option 1:

I put a lot of time into my craft. I have big aspirations for my career. I've been at this for a long time and haven't had too much to show for my hard work. We were so close to a Cup win in Texas, but fell just short. Individually, I don't think I've had that explosive season that I expected to have. I feel like I can be one of the best defensemen in the league. That's why this off-season, I decided to accept an invite to train with some of the best SHL players.

I'm going to spend this time picking their brain and try to sharpen some of my skills on the ice. My new teammates in Tampa are here with me too so we're also going to use this time to get more acquainted with each other and learn each other's tendencies. Training with the best of the best can only make you better and I'm at a point in my career where it's now or never. I'm going to absorb as much as I can here and get ready for the season.

philippe eko eel spends his offseason not with people at all - as the question presupposes - but far away from people. you see, philippe eko eel is an eel and because of his immense popularity and skill as a hockey player he spends the season around people, essentially the entirety of september til june (he now gets a break in february since he's too oldge to make the all star game so he gets to head home and chill underwater then now too). he misses his fellow eels dearly so he prefers to spend his entire offseason underwater back home with his eel comrades. the eel community isn't much like humans in terms of any nuclear family really, instead they have just a bunch of eels hanging out in a large general area. this then, if we map human concepts onto eeldom, would count as his family. eeldom is a crazy word @goldenglutes do you like my word. anyway, philippe eko eel has been underwater for the last couple of months shaking off the cup loss and this time with family has refreshed and reenergized him, returning to the SHL with a newfound spirit

Prompt 1

M'Baku Olubori bristled when he first heard what the new management and coaching staff wanted from him. Over his 13 years in the SHL, he’d established himself as a great power forward and an incredible goal scorer (6 straight 40+ goal seasons from S74-S79). His independent training had carried him a long way, and now some new guy’s come in and asked him to reinvent his game? Worse yet, after IIHF commitments, they wanted Baku to come right back to Baltimore for the offseason. The veteran laughed at them and refused, letting the coach know he’d see them at training camp. He flew back to Nigeria for previous commitments split between family and his philanthropic work developing the game of hockey in his home nation. Usually, in the offseason he would spend at least a week or two flying out to Seattle to work out with other SHL veterans, alums, and up and coming prospects at the Cassius Darrow hockey camps. Those camps were his first real taste of what it would take to be a pro, as the SHL and IIHF Hall of Fame defender put him (and others, like Lias Ekholm-Gunnarson) through their paces. He liked to go back and help teach a little, as well as get pointers from Darrow about how to age gracefully. Anyone who claims someone other than Darrow runs the hardest camp is wrong: that man remains an absolute menace in the gym, even at 55.

This offseason, attending didn’t seem tenable, so he stayed in Nigeria the entire offseason and worked with some of his personal Olympic trainers. He’s coming into SHL camp hungry to show he can still compete at a high level.

Coming off his second Four-Star Cup win in a row, Cristoforo Roccamontepiano is used to his offseasons being shorter than most, but this doesn't mean he takes things easy. After saying his goodbyes to his former team, Cristoforo caught the first flight he could find from Quebec City to Edmonton and immediately got to work. He was put in contact with SHL veteran and QCC cup winner Alexander Minaj, who was gracious enough to let the Cristoforo stay in his Edmonton house for the summer while he flew back home. Cristoforo was able to meet up with retired Blizzard legends, Kyle Sutton and James Truong, to start training early, and got working in the gym to start training against the older competition. After this he met up with some of his fellow rookies to run some drills, there were five skaters and two goalies which worked out, although the three defenders had to take turns playing the wing. Finally going into training camp, Cristoforo was able to meet the rest of the team, get caught up with their systems, and get some full practices in. It was a grind, but Cristoforo wanted to go into his rookie season feeling as prepared as possible. With so many eyes on him this season, we'll see if the hard work pays off.

Squidwardo Tentacles likes to return home to Latvia in the offseason, with a smaller group of national team players than large countries like Canada and the United States, the Latvian team has quite a few players that meet up and train together in the offseason. Fellow Latvian National team members and Seattle Argonauts teammates, Rence Sykut and Roquefort Cotswold both train with Squidwardo in Latvia. The three of them try to use their chemistry together from both the IIHF Latvia and Seattle training camps to improve to bring a cup home to Seattle and earn another medal for Latvia. Since Sykut and Tentacles are both defensive forwards and Roquefort is a offensive defender, all three players like to run 2 on 1 drills with each of them taking turns playing defense and trying to not get embarrassed. A couple other of the Latvia National team members make their appearance for these training sessions, but a ton of players take the offseason to go to Slip McScruff’s hockey training in the offseason. McScruff is known to have the hardest offseason training sessions but they are always held in weird locations, like this offseason it was held at a remote cabin at the tip of Antarctica. It works really well though as McScruff has used this throughout all 35 years of his career.

Jayson isn’t someone who trains with others. He’s very much a lone wolf in nature. He has a rink in his house. Built it for specifically training. So he spends the first half of his training getting back into shape. Being ready to start on actual improvement training. Always shoot 500 pucks on targets at a net. Always work on passing and skating. But also using some time to look at the tapes and get the IQ up. If you are in position then the game becomes way easier for you in the long run. That’s what Jayson’s ultimate goal is. Sometimes you like to have teammates come over and train as well and do some pick up games in a serious matter, but Jayson works out every day for about 6 hours a day. Just to keep on task and be ready for the great season that comes ahead.

Option 2:

The offseason for the SHL isn't an offseason at all for me. It is an ON SEASON. As in, On-to the IIHF! Czechia was poised to do so well this season, but the team on paper and the team on the ice were two very different teams. We struggled, we failed. It was nice to spend some time with my Extended Czechia Family: @39alaska39 , @ibuprofenaddict @Rabidsponge21 @caltroit_red_flames @Citizen of Adraa @Thunfish @brickwall35 @notorioustig @Keven @Bfine @Tate @micool132 @Esso2264 @G2019 @bobdigi9 @Schocar @Mysterious_Fish @Akoustique @Ruggsy @hewasajazzman @Vice @Chris @luke @Will3 @Saucetonia @Thelastheraclid @prattk1987 @Samsung virtual assistant @Blastmeaway @DorkDipplet @JamesT @koty_k @TheHockey_Pro @Zaitsev @Kybel @Raven @Inf1d3l @jtanner20 @Noah Johns @Zurgz @Ex0ticDummy @efiug @MadDogDevil and @Kato At the Czechia training facility on Prague before going to play on the Quebec main stage, brought to you by the Philadelphia Ice from last season. While the IIHF really stunk for us, the biggest sting was a self wound. @artermis . I think when we decided to scratch the S61 legend Petr Svoboda, we scratched the soul of our team, and it showed off and on the ice. While Dobby may be free, it was still a sad day, and a day that I will never forget. Dobby may be free, but Dobby is still missed. Anyway, after we got beat out of the tournament, we ended up going to this awesome local eatery in the United States called BJs. We heard about it from @kahri who said something about the cookies being good. However, they have a drink that comes in a bath-tub for some reason, and that thing was... it was weird, the whole thing was weird. I'm pretty sure @Blastmeaway stole the tub at the end of the meal, but I can't prove it. all I know is I'm glad to be back at it again with NEW, and with TBW getting them ready to hopefully make a cup run here in both leagues! Option 1:

The offseason is always a busy one for Inge Baardsen. The IIHF tournament means it’s never much of a restful time. Most players take a couple of weeks off after their season ends then start to prep for internationals. Inge likes to keep his fitness level high so remains in Baltimore, not working quite as hard as during the season, but getting his gym time in, keeping his conditioning top notch, and working on the ice, even if it’s just him alone skating around, firing puck after puck at the net. He does this until it is time to travel to the IIHF base for Team Norway, where he links up with his international teammates and they start to put in the work together. This approach clearly works for Inge, as this past offseason, he won his first championship as a pro, helping Team Norway to an overall win at the IIHF championship!

Written Option 2

Emil Karlsson hails from a notable SHL family, being the grandson of former SHL player Sven Karlsson, and the nephew of SHL player Daniel Karlsson, meaning he was raised in a setting where family was stressed in its importance alongside hockey. For Emil, this has meant that he is just as invested in the time he spends with his family as he is in the time he spends training and playing the sport he loves, and as such he dedicates himself completely to those around him during the offseason. He does not yet have any kids of his own, but he spends a great deal of time in the offseason in Sweden with his loved ones, particularly his parents and siblings, and looks to hang out and spend some quality time with them as much as possible. He also has a dog that lives with him all the time, but he takes over to Sweden during the offseason to hang out with the family also. It's not always easy being so far away from the place he was raised, but Emil works hard to make sure he is able to go back home and try to make up for his long absences, and looks forward to starting a family of his own one day.

Option 1

Paul Bondage does a good split of alone training and training with others. The first half of the off-season, he absolutely trains alone. He focuses mostly on his body, not his hockey skills, during this time. Jogging all over the German country-side, working out daily, mentally resting, really just working on getting his body as pristine as it could possibly be. Once August rolls around, that is when he starts to hit up the actual training camps. Since he spends his offseason back home in Germany, he unfortunately does not have much opportunity to hang out with his Atlantian friends, but he does make sure to hang out with the German IIHF squad. Hodor and Red Kirkby are a couple of his good acquaintances he loves to run drills with. And as always, Paul Bondage makes sure to put 100% into his training, especially now. President's Trophy winners only to lose out in playoffs, it is a harsh bite of reality.
