The Maine Timber are currently rolling out a goalie tandem composed of two first year players. One is George Dankse, from user @LanceAlexGoogoo . The other is Travis Coates, from user @RainDelay (hey, that’s me!). These goalies have made a pact to keep improving and pushing each other to be the best, so let’s take a look at what they bring to the table. In some ways, they are alike, and in other ways different, whether its their path to the league or their attributes.
It’s only fair to start with George, as he was drafted by Maine and is the current number one in net. It is an honor to share the net with him. Let’s have a look at his vitals: Height 6’2 Weight 210 Blocker 11 Glove 12 Passing 11 Poke Check 10 Positioning 13 Rebound 11 Recovery 12 Puckhandling 10 Low Shots 11 Reflexes 13 Skating 10 What stands out about George Dankse are his cat-like reflexes and his ability to position himself in the best spot to be able to fend off an offensive onslaught. His tenacity and quickness are unmatched at this level and with some strong focus and determination he will be able to translate this to the SHL level. He has earned 247 TPE and has a bank account of $5.3 Million. Now let’s examine his contemporary, Travis Coates, before comparing the two. Let’s look at his vitals: Height 6’7 Weight 217 Blocker 11 Glove 13 Passing 6 Poke Check 8 Positioning 13 Rebound 12 Recovery 12 Puckhandling 7 Low Shots 11 Reflexes 12 Skating 8 He has earned 233 TPE and has a bank account of $31.9 Million. Coates is a bit behind Dankse in certain areas as he’s only slightly younger and has been training at this level for less time. Passing and puck handling are things that come with more experience, so I’d expect him to catch up. His glove is only one step above his counterpart’s but his strength with it helped the Maine Timber coaches find this standout prospect and take a chance on him. Coates has a bank account six times that of Dankse, so he can rely on that to train immediately. You don’t need to have a bank account that high to have success, but it definitely helps his chances. At 6’7, he brings a different kind of frame to the net. He also has strong positioning and his rebound control along with taking care of any recoveries stand out. These goalies are neck and neck right now, and it will be interesting to see how their training paths compare as they improve and earn in this league. For now, the goal is to bring a Championship to Maine and dethrone Quebec City. Other teams see Maine on the schedule and can’t be sure which goalie they will face, or which one they want to face. Both have made for formidable opponents so far, and the sky is the limit for this tandem. If I were another team, I would not want to face either one as they both keep you on your toes. It will be interesting to follow their (hopeful) success this season and in the future! ![]() ![]() Media Graders Posting Freak ![]() SHL GM Professor of Baldeconomics

“The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. ... There are neither beginnings nor endings to the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning.”
