I think that one thing we tried to make clear this week as Head Office, at any rate, is that our locker rooms and affiliated spaces absolutely do impact our broader community. Locker rooms should be a place where people can join and be welcomed in without immediately having to be initiated into a circle of drama and petty beef that they have no connection to, and that is not directed at Hamilton or any one room in particular, that's just my own opinion of locker rooms as a whole. And that's a hard thing to navigate when a community is as well-established as this one. There's over a decade of history here, and there's bad blood that's just as old, and I think that we should all do our best to just let go of that and not pass it on to future "generations" of users as soon as they walk in the door.

Closing threads because something that crosses the line might be said in them in the future sure doesn't give any chance to confront these issues or have any sort of constructive discussion about anything. The forums are a place that everyone regardless of what team they're on, or what discord they're in, have access to and all that's being done by restricting conversation on here is pushing people even further behind those closed doors.

I really don’t know what to even say anymore about this dead horse that’s been so thoroughly beaten into the ground. I thought locking those particular threads at the time was a good idea. Other people agreed with me. Some didn’t. We haven’t locked any threads since then. I’ve addressed this multiple times. I have written thousands of words today answering people’s questions but all anybody wants to focus on is a couple of threads that got locked, even though it’s not something that happens regularly and we are very clearly engaging with stuff in the threads that have been active today. I’m sorry people don’t think it was the right call to lock the threads. I genuinely don’t know what else I can possibly say about the darned locked threads.

yo, people who are trolling (mainly samee and jobin) are not even on the team lol and saying affiliated to the team is kinda crazy. They arent even in Hamiltons lr.

Jagg got punished, not Hamilton. HO just saw it necessary to air out a bunch of bullshit about the team in public on top of that for whatever reason instead of handling it in private like anyone with a sense of reason would

Why the hell is a punishment thread 20 pages long? Even if productive conversations are happening this isn't the right place for it. Also if things "getting out of hand" is an issue then don't allow comments to begin with, otherwise you're encouraging it to happen. When the judge issues a punishment in court they don't allow everyone to pipe up and chat about it afterwards. Again, make some sort of "Daily Talk" thread under the general section and moderate THAT instead.

Why isn’t this the place to talk about it? Most of the comments are very relevant to the punishment and how the rulebook relates to them. What does it matter what the court system does, that has nothing to do with a fake hockey forum.

But also, bring back the thunderdome.
