Official Rap/R&B discussion thread

OK, so Yeezus has turned out to be quite good from my perspective. I've been listening to it every day since I got it. The streak continues with me and Kanye Albums. I still feel like an idiot for not listening to late registration or college dropout fully yet.

My Kanye album rankings:

1. Graduation - Amazing album, probably my favourite album. Every song is on point and I could listen to it from beginning to end at any time.

2. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy - What a fantastic Album, high quality from beginning to end. Very close to Graduation for me.

3. 808s and Heartbreak - I loved this album, even if a lot of people didn't. It was very different from anything else he's released, but that didn't deter me from it. This album produced quite possibly my favourite Kanye song, Amazing.

4. Yeezus - Great album after multiple times listening. Hold my Liquor, I'm In It, and Blood on the Leaves are my favourite from this album, but the rest of the album is great as well.

*I will listen to late registration and college dropout in full, I promise

Other albums at the top of my rankings:

Lupe Fiasco L.A.S.E.R.S - Amazing album, from beginning to end, every track is fantastic. Easily one of the best albums I've ever listened to.

Ludacris Word of Mouf - The first ever album that I enjoyed from beginning to end. Great album with some awesome songs on it.

Rihanna Unapologetic - Loved this album as well. I listen to the whole thing at least 4 times a week.

Kanye West G.O.O.D Music - Great album as well, only a couple of songs I don't listen to, which of course are the ones that Kanye is not featured on. Watch the Throne is the same way, good album, but not a fan of all the songs. Mostly enjoy the first half.

Honourable mention: Take Care, Blueprint 3, F.A.M.E, Pink Friday

Guy Incognito - D - #24
Tampa Bay Barracuda
Season 82
34-12-3
Regular Season - [G 3] [A 20] [Pts 23] [+/- +12] [PIM 32] [Hits 69] [SB 91]

A lot of his songs have strange starts and they pick up hugely. His music is more like a movie than most others and his albums work together from start to finish in his later work. You'd really have to give it a full listen to get the full effect. Yeezus and MBDTF are amazing start to finish. Yeezus you definitely have to listen to the beginning to the end since most songs are very strange at the start until Yeezy starts to rap
Like I said I skipped through multiple times just to make sure. I kept a few songs from it though. I really liked Graduation, College Dropout, Late Registration, and MBDTF.

btw I'm extremely picky when it comes to music so the fact that I took most of his songs is really good.

Strange lol. I think Graduation is by far his worst album. Too much bubble gum pop bullshit.

Thank you to My boys @Merica and @Ragnar for the lovely sigs!

Ranking Kanye's ablums

1. MBDTF - This is a near perfect album. It has more cohesion and is straight and to the point coming in at 13 (or 12?) tracks.

2. College Dropout - Probably one of his worst lyrical efforts but he has that emotion and hunger that made me like him. Plus the production is amazing

3. Watch The Throne - Braggadocius, boisterous and inflated. The talk about being better than us and yet I like it. Two of my favorites on the same album is always a plus

4. Late Registration - Much better lyrically. Production took a slight dip imo and too many songs.

5. Yeezus - Hype has worn off a bit and this album isn't amazing. It is different and I prefer the production on this over some others. He kinda is hypocritical talking about racism and talking bad about rich people, while at the same time bragging about being rich and smashing white women. It is still a very good album

6. Cruel Summer - Good album. Kanye kills all the songs he is on but the album stutters when he isn't on a track.

7. Graduation - Too poppy for my tastes. Some fun songs but this is the ultimate Kanye sellout album.

8. 808s - Pure trash. TRASH TRASH TRASH

I need some new music. Just like some singles and shit. Not really looking for any full albums right now. And I don't listen to like good rap all the time, so it doesn't have to be good for me to listen to it. I guess I'm looking for hype shit and shit to listen to in the car.

Who Booty by John Hart, Love/Hate Thing Wale, We in This by Future, UOENO by Rocko, We in this Bitch by B.o.B, etc are some of my faves right now, to give you guys examples of the kinda songs I'm looking for.

For me Yeezus had the opposite effect. I liked some songs but now I love them. I've grown to like them more and more but it hasn't happened with the full album. So it's definitely not on par with College Dropout or MBDTF but it's solid 3rd place for me. New Slaves, and Bound 2 have been playing non-stop for me recently

For me:

1. MBDTF - Just flawless. Not a track that I don't love here.
2. Yeezus - Still love this a lot. The hype has certainly worn off slightly, but it's definitely one of his best projects to date. Weird as shit, yet great.
3. Late Registration - Similar to CD for me, but this one gets the edge.
4. College Dropout - See above.
5. 808's - Most people hate the autotune, but I love it. Kanye is more introspective here for sure and I'm really a fan of this album. Certainly a couple of duds, but is what it is.
6. Graduation - Only Kanye album with songs that I flat out don't fuck with at all. I like the majority of it, but there's a few tracks that just no.
7. Watch the Throne - Just three tracks I listen to nowadays. No replay value,
8. Cruel Summer - Aside from a few tracks, just no. Like many compilations, it had no flow and the dud songs were big time duds.

I'd say Kendrick Lamar and JCole but I don't think you'd like them since that doesn't appear to be your type of music. I don't really know anyone else who'd fit the criteria for what you'd listen to
