Hey everyone it's Dale Murphy! I'm sure you didn't expect me this early in the season but well what can I say, money doesn't grow on trees so we've got to write often!
The Forge are through 4 games, and I'm here to discuss the biggest stories to date. On the offensive side, Tony Sparano and Gnabe Dabson seem just like the playoffs are still going on. Each of them has 8 points, Tony going 4-4, and Gnabe at 3-5. But how about Nathaniel Barca at 3-3-6 on an unreal 30% shooting, and his new defensive partner Antonio Flusso at 2-3-5 with a 40% shooting clip. It is quite cool to see the top defensive line scoring at such a rate, but it is hard to see such a thing continue. The Forge mixed up the d-pairs this season, with Barca playing with Flusso and Shuffleboard getting to play with Cale Salad. Shuffleboard has been a mixed bag at the SHL level, his offensive promise never seeming to come to fruition in Philly. Salad was once a forward, maybe a like-minded partner will get him going. 3WW Wingmate Roc moved to defensive this season, and he gets to play with franchise legend Sam Sam Emerson. Quite fun, we will see how that pair fairs. BASE PACK went 2-1 with an impressive .915. Can PACK turn in another amazing season? LaunchPad McQuack won his only start turning 40 of 44 away in a win in Baltimore. Hard to complaining about the backup if he does that. The 3-1 start certainly is strong, but there is a ways to go. In addition, it was brought to my attention that I should look at the way the Forge treat their rookies. On the ice they have just one rookie by the name of Nor Ge. But he gets no favors from low minutes or easy setups. Not here, Ge has been plugged right onto the first line with Gnabe Dabson and Graj Virrok. Good luck kid! But off the ice I was told that the Forge had a good time on Ge's credit card. The team seemed to have gone out to a steakhouse in middle of training camp. From the wild number of appetizers and everyone's two or three steaks, the wine that could've knocked out a horse I heard the bill rang up into the hundreds of thousands. Welcome to the league kiddo.
