WELCOME ONE AND ALL TO THE SEASON 6 SHL AWARDS CEREMONY! This night is sure to be filled with greatness as we honor those SHL players who put their bodies, hearts and souls on the ice night in and night out for our entertainment... And their wallets!
First I'd like to congratulate the Season 6 Challenge Cup Champions, the Los Angeles Panthers on their first championship, but with such an aggressive GM, my bet is it won't be their last! But tonight's about the Solo awards, so let's get to it! ![]() Registered Merica's Lover
First it's time to award the Sarmad Khan trophy, this award is handed out seasonally to the player voted as the MVP by their peers. Named after the Platoon's fearless co-GM. One of the leagues most respected centers for 6 seasons now Sarmad Khan. So without further a-do the first annual Sarmad Khan trophy winner.
From the Calgary Dragons! Narrowly beating out Ron Mexico! KAIN WEBB!!!! ![]() Registered Merica's Lover
Now to get the pre-determined awards out of the way!
The Jay McDonald trophy which goes to the leading goal scorer. Was a three way tie this season! Congratulations to Kain Webb, Ron Mexico and Jeff Dar! The Sergei Karpotsov award which goes to the scoring leader, will be handed out to Ron Mexico! The Mike Honcho trophy goes to the goalie who let in the fewest goals and this season that was! Eddie Fischermann! ![]() Registered Merica's Lover
Now time for the Damien Littleton award. This award is given out annually to the leagues player who best displays excellence and dedication towards the SHL as a whole. Named after the SHL's commissioner for over 4 seasons, the winner will be joining fellow winners Fernando Garcia, Jon Maxfield and Jay Mcdonald!
Now for the finalists Of the LA Panthers- JEFF DAR! Dar stepped up to the plate this season and took over simming operations, he was always there when needed and was a great help holding down simming even when he didn't have the time. Will he follow last seasons' winner and win because of his simming? Also of the LA Panthers- RON BOLT! Bolt came on board towards the end of the season as Spangs' co-commissioner and ever since has been a huge help and is more of the "people's commissioner" than the hammer that is Spangs Of the Toronto North Stars!- JON MAXFIELD! Maxfield proves season in and season out that he'll do just about anything to keep the league going. This is the 4th straight season he's been in the top 3 for voting for this award. Will he win his 3rd trophy tonight? Or will one of the Littleton rookies dethrone him?! Now time for the Jeff Dar Award. The Jeff Dar award, named after defensive forward Jeff Dar, goes to the best forward who displays both offensive and defensive aspects of his game. Dar has done this for 5 seasons and this past season was no exception!
Now time for the finalists! Sean Gallagher of the West Kendall Platoon! Gallagher is one of the best two way centers in the league, he has a great back checking game that has saved the Platoon many a odd man rush. Jeff Dar of the Los Angeles Panthers! Will Jeff Dar be able to win his own trophy in it's inaugural year?! Dar had a career year finishing among top 3 in scoring and was a all around presence on his teams run to the cup. Raymond Lindsay of the Hamilton Steelhawks! Lindsay is one of the most underrated forwards in the league, he consistently puts up elite numbers and never gets the recognition of a superstar. Next up is the JJ Krever trophy. This award is given to the GM who best displays what it takes to be a winner. Both by success on and off the ice, making the moves it takes to make his team a success. The winner will be joining the ranks of JJ Krever, Brian Burke and Jay McDonald.
Now for the finalists! Of the Minnesota Chiefs!- Jon Doran!!! Doran took the last place Chiefs and turned them 180 degrees as he led them to not only their first playoff appearance, but shocked the SHL as they made it to the SHL Finals and took the Panthers to a drama filled game 7 before being dethroned. Of the Manhattan Rage! Quilha Agante!!!! A rookie GM Agante took the Rage over with little to work with, a sub-par offense backed by a one man defense and a okay goalie. He turned them into one of the best defensive cores in the league and put together an all-star cast of forwards. Despite a disappointing outcome in the playoffs. Agante still put out a great showing for his first season And of the LA Panthers! Ideen Fallah!!!! Fallah is another expansion GM who took the SHL by storm. He took his struggling Panthers and turned them into Cup champions! The Panthers were phenomenal this season as he made key acquisitions such as Scott Stevens, Jeff Dar, Tyler Seguin, Zach Dooley, Kanye Summers, Niklas Svensson and the key to their cup win Jonathan Kane! Envelope please And the winner is... ![]() Registered Posting Freak ![]() Registered Merica's Lover |
