Next up is one of my personal favorites. The Ryan Jesster Trophy. Awarded each season to the breakout rookie, the player who shows they can and will be successful season in and season out. It's been won by the likes of Raymond Lindsay, Joshua Botelho and Kain Webb... Who will join these studs tonight?
Of the Calgary Dragons!- Laraque Obama!!! Obama was quite possibly the shock of the SHL world this season, he led all rookies in scoring and was one of the best all around forwards on the Dragons team. Also of the Calgary Dragons!- Reggie Williams!!!! Williams was definitely expected to do well, seeing as the Dragons drafted him in the first round and never looked back. The Dragons utilized Williams well and he fit seemlessly into the Dragons lineup And of the Minnesota Chiefs- Zach Miller! The Chiefs got a gem in Miller, without him, the Chiefs may have still been in the basement last season. Miller was quite possibly the biggest part of their dramatic turn around last season. Envelope please And the winner of the Ryan Jesster trophy is... ![]() Registered Merica's Lover ![]() Registered Senior Member Quote:Originally posted by kebrik@Jan 4 2012, 08:17 PM Maxy is too lazy to post pics ![]() ![]() SHL GM Chief Chicken Officer ![]() Registered Merica's Lover ![]() Registered S7, S23 Challenge Cup Champion ![]() Registered Merica's Lover
Now it's time for the Fernando Garcia trophy, named after the Platoon's all time great goaltender, future hall of famer Fernando Garcia. Garcia and Mike Honcho completely owned this award season 1-5 winning it all 5 of the seasons prior.
This is the first season neither of them are finalists so we are guaranteed to get some fresh blood in there! Now for the finalists From the LA Panthers!- Eddie Fischermann!!! Posting a .918 SV% and a league high 4 shutouts on way to leading his team to the SHL Finals. Fischermann proved why he was the first goalie taken in the last draft From the Winnipeg Jets!- John McBride!!! Posting a league high .931 save percentage despite facing the most shots in the league McBride really shone through this season and proved he can play among the elite goaltenders in the league. And from the Minnesota Chiefs!- Brandon Sawyer!!!! I can safely say, if the Chiefs continued with Latypov in net they would not have made it to the SHL Finals. Sawyer took that team on his back and carried it all the way through the season and an even more impressive post season. Despite having a 7th place SV% and 6th place GAA Sawyer still was one of the most improved goalies. Envelope Please And the winner is! ![]() Registered Senior Member

Three awards left!
First the Scott Stevens award, this award goes to the leagues best Defensemen every year. And now for the finalists From the Manhattan Rage! Quilha Agante!! Top 10 in hits, top 3 in shots blocked. Agante was a monster on defense this past season as he and Chisling showed what a good defensive pairing can do when they have chemistry! From the LA Panthers! Scott Stevens! Stevens won this award last season for the first time and didn't show any signs of slowing down this season, Despite dropping off the top 10 sheet in hits and defensive scoring. He was top 5 in both shots blocked and take-aways. Stevens looks to become the 2nd player tonight to win his namesake award. AND From the Manhattan Rage! Erik Chisling!!! Chisling... Wow can we say Mike Green? He put up as many points as Richard Winner Jeff Dar and more points than any right winger in the league with a jaw dropping 63! He also finished top 5 in hits, and top 2 in takeaways. Chisling is for real. Envelope Please And the winner is... |
