Contract year
#1

It’s a contract year for many players around the SHL, one being a young forward in Tony Pellegrino. Tony has only played in 3 seasons for the Los Angeles Panthers, even though he has been a part of 3 different organizations since he entered the league, via draft in S26. He had a stellar SMJHL campaign with the Colorado Mammoths in which he posted up 39 points in his first season, 42 points in his second, and 39 again in his third season with the Mammoths. He helped the Mammoths reach the cup finals in S27 (his last season in the SMJHL) and they won the Four Star Cup. He put up 120 points in 150 games in the SMJHL, and Tony was hoping that his production would translate into the SHL.

Well, it did not. Instead, Tony had a horrible SHL rookie season in S28 with the Panthers. Surprising enough, just like his agent Jordin FourFour, Tony had been shipped around numerous teams before he actually played his first game. He went from being drafted to the Texas Renegades, to being traded to the Manhattan Rage, and then eventually the Los Angeles Panthers. Similarly to his agent, Tony got his career started up after he was traded from the Manhattan Rage (For those rookies out there, FourFour was on Manhattan, and then got traded to Texas where he played most of his career out). Now, back to his statistics.

Tony put up a dismal 8 points in his first 50 games in the SHL. He was never really nothing more than a pylon on the ice, and every now and then the puck would hit him and go into the net, the lack of production really had to do with the competition he had. Even though he had spent 3 years in the SMJHL, Tony never had the skill to play with the SHL guys, he had the lowest TPE on the team, and was one of the lowest TPE SHL players in the league. Also add in he was given second line playing time, as well, as some first line time, and you can see that Tony could not perform against players with triple or quadruple the TPE he had.

The sophomore season was a little better for Tony. He put up 23 points, increasing his point production by 200+%, and he started to make a name for himself in the Los Angeles forward corps. Though his production was not what he wanted, he was making strides towards being a premier player in this league.

Now, we go to his third season with the Panthers, Tony set career highs in goals, assists and points this season, but for the third straight year, he missed the playoffs. Though he had been amassing better numbers every season, Tony knew that the main reason he was playing in the league was to win a cup. Now approaching his 4th season in the SHL; 7th as a pro hockey player, Tony is quickly approaching the dreaded regression. Sitting at 800+ TPE right now, and having the expectations of his agent to live up to, Tony may never reach star status in this league, his days in the league may slowly be coming to an end.

As his fourth season comes up, Tony is looking for one thing; to MAKE THE FUCKING PLAYOFFs and maybe even win the cup. With this also being a contract year for Tony, it also makes things a little more interesting. Could he stay with the Panthers if they do make the playoffs and go on a good run, or if he misses the playoffs for the fourth straight season, will Tony look for a different home come S32? All these questions will be answered and more in S31.

His agent has released preliminary FA rankings (For S32 Free Agency psl don't tamper)
