Nicholas Williams' Pre-Season Review
Nicholas Williams had a nice little pre-season. Scoring 8 goals and 11 assists for a total of 19 points. Though he would have liked to scored more he was only encouraged to work harder for the season.
Williams stayed on the 3rd line for the entire pre-season, along with fellow teammates Adam Taylor and Steven Moyer. The line had great chemistry and did really well together. Williams would see himself averaging 15:42 minutes a game. He finished off the pre-season with a +6 ratio and took 20 PIMs. One thing we noticed was his shot percentage was below the league average. He was only shooting at a 8.25% rate. Coaches are hoping he pulls the trigger more now that the regular season is starting, he could definitively be a strong scorer if he shoots more. Although he had the fourth highest amount of shots at 97 on the team, he has a long way to go to be an impact player.
One thing to note on his goals scored, he had 3 game winning goals, something a 3rd liner should be proud of. Williams has been reported training with a shooting coach outside of his normal training routine. His focus for this season is to score more goals, skate faster, and defend better. Taped on his stick are the words "Skate, Shoot, Defend" to constantly remind himself of what he needs to do to succeed.
Williams saw the face circle a handful of times where he did poorly. Of the 39 face offs he took, he only won 35.9%. Which is the worst on the team of anyone who took a face off. Though he is a winger and not a center, he is expected to be able to win some when Moyer gets thrown out of the circle.
Besides some downfalls, Williams future looks bright. He is staying positive and working even harder to prove he can be better.
The Scarecrows would finish first in the pre-season with 72 points. With regular season beginning, they are definitely the team to watch, and Williams will be out there giving 120% every game.
