Task 1

Task 2
Colorado Raptors vs Montreal Militia was as classic a series as you are going to get. A back and forth affair of the highest degree. Colorado took game 1, Montreal games 2 and 3, Colorado would tie the series with an OT winner in game 4 and even take a series lead in game 5. From there on, it was all Montreal who gutted it out for a 2 goal victory in game 6 and a 1 goal victory in game 7. For my turning point, I am choosing the first goal in game 7. With the series tied at 3 games apiece, the team with the most momentum was going to come out on top. With the home crowd firmly behind them, Montreal Militia player Daniel Daniil would score his first goal of the playoffs just 31 seconds into the game. That early goal put the momentum firmly behind Montreal as they increased their lead just 4 minutes later to 2-0. Colorado would make it 2-1 in the second, but it wouldn’t be enough to turn the tide. This game could have just as easily gone Colorado’s way. They showed they can win on the road in Game 4. If they had been able to swing one more away game their way they could have taken the series.

Task 3
My choice best line combination would be line 2 of the Kelowna Knights. This line consisted of Iam Essellemm, Brock Becker, and Xavier Paquette. Essellemm has scored 15 points, making him the playoff leader (6 goals, 9 assists in 8 games). Becker follows him with 11 (4 goals, 7 assists in 8 games). Xavier Paquette scored 8 points, including several in game 3 allowing Kelowna to take a game on the road, earning him first star honors. These massive points were scored in just 8 games, as Kelowna swept the first two series. One can only imagine how many points they could have scored in two 7-game series.

As far as a line that didn’t produce quite as much as would be expected would the Detroit Falcons first line. Kelowna was able to sweep the series, and for good reason. Flaco Lagerfield was only able to score 1 goal in the series. His plus minus was an abysmal -3. Lightning Jones did the best of the 3, scoring 4 points total with a +1 rating. Mikkel Hauggen was able to score 3 points with a similar +1 rating. I’m sure Detroit was expecting a lot more from their top line and unfortunately for them, the boys were unable to deliver. While they sat at home the rest of the playoffs, they had to watch Kelowna go all the way to the finals.

Task 4
During the offseason, Geezus Kryyst has been hard at work improving his physicality. The biggest attributes he’s been working on is size and agility. To increase his size, Geezus has hit the gym hard. Weightlifting, squats, tethered runs. He’s even begun training with WWE Superstar John Cena. As for agility, Geezus has been running ropes, catching tennis balls off a wall, and ballroom dancing. Geezus had a pretty solid rookie season as a backup and expects to improve on that next season. Geezus went early in the second round of the SMJHL draft, and he hopes to go even higher in the SHL draft. Time will tell.

Task 5
My choice for the MVP of the playoffs from the Montreal Militia is Piotr Czerkawski. Piotr is tied for the most points scored in the playoffs at 15. Of those 15 points, 7 were from goals, and 8 were assists. Piotr also was able to maintain a +6 rating, which was tied for the best on his team. Piotr also managed to be quite a thread on the powerplay, scoring 1 goal and 2 assists. Defensively, Piotr w was able to block two shots. Additionally Piotr made a respectable 14 hits. For these reasons, I have chosen Piotr Czerkawsi as the playoffs MVP from Montreal.

My choice for the MVP of the playoffs from the Kelowna Knights is Iam Essellemm. Like Czerkawski, Iam leads the league in points at 15. He also maintained a +8, which was tied for the best on his team. Essellemm was a beast on the poweplay, punishing opponents for bad discipline. He had 1 goal on the powerplay, but 6 assists. Kelowna was hungry and Essellemm was there to feed them. Defensively, Essellemm had 10 hits and one shot blocked. What makes these numbers all the more impressive is that Iam Essellemm was able to do this in just 8 games.
