The first thing I am going to do with this season's $4M salary is donate $1m to mental health charities. I have been fortunate to not have to face some of the mental health issues some of my family members have. Seeing how they are impacted first hand has had an impact on me and I think it is something worth donating towards, especially since events like Bell's Let's Talk is just once a year. Hopefully my donation will help in some small way. With the remaining $3M I am going to invest $2M in my IRA and mutual funds and with the remaining $1M I will spend about half of that on living expenses and the other half will be used for different charities that focus on physical fitness. Finally, I will have about $1k that I plan to splurge on something I've been dreaming of (at least for a little while). A Kabuki Power Bar in Electroless Nickel. That Power Bar is, quite simply, one of the sexiest barbells I have ever used or laid eyes on and I want one of my own.

If you thought Kristjansson would be doing some lavish spending with his contract money you would be sadly disappointed. You are probably thinking he would do something exciting? Maybe buy a couple of houses or new cars?

In fact you would end up being wrong because Kristjansson lives in a condo in Boston during the SHL season, and in a fishing hut in Iceland during the offseason. Kristjansson lives like frugally and typically looks for a bargain wherever he can get one. So what is he doing with all his money? Well if he isn’t spending it on training and equipment he is simply saving it for retirement and making smart investments with his money. Kristjansson’s goal is to be able to retire and never have to work a day in his life again, casually cashing in on his investments while doing one of his favourite past times, fishing from his Icelandic fishing hut. Maybe buy himself a dog as well, only time will tell.

Well with some of the money, I’ve bought some brand new sticks and paid some coaches to run drills with me in the offseason so I could learn how make myself more open to receiving passes and be a better shooter. Some of these drills were pretty intense as they also had me doing some bag skates when I wasn’t practicing my shot. With that said, I think I’ve finally done enough to the point that I no longer have the shot of an SMJHL player and can actually receive passes instead of always being the guy who dishes out. Also, my strength and conditioning is greatly improving so I can keep opposing defenders off of me and now I can deliver a hit better than some junior players. So, now I’m focused on other things not really related to hockey. It’s pretty cold here in Baltimore right now, but I bought myself a nice 40 foot yacht to hold parties when the summer heat comes around and enjoy the nice breeze on the Patapsco and out on the bay when I’m not feeling up to partying.

For some reason it takes a lot less work to spend a few million bucks than it takes to make it. The first thing to do with my contract deposit is invest it. Looking into buying into the electric vehicle and water stocks, as well as some other investments like looking into affordable properties to rent out. Hopefully by the end of my playing career I will be set for life to live off the money I invested. With the rest of it... there is a large amount of cash stored away for imported European foods and drinks to help me feel more at home, as well as making sure all my family members are not having any emergencies that I could help with financially. Finally I am still paying off my Minnesota and Paris apartments, which will drain a good chunk of my pay, but as both are my personal living properties I cannot go without, it is the most important that my money goes there. 167

The only thing I really ever do with my money these days is buy my weekly training, if we're talking seriously about how I spend my SHL dollars. Honestly I dont earn enough money per season to blow it on other random stuff or even to buy my seasonal equipment, so I'm kinda shit outta luck when it comes to that. If we're talking about how Ronlain decides to spend his money, honestly a lot of it probably goes back to his parents to help them out or to local charities in Tampa. Ronlain is a pretty simply guy, doesnt really need too much for himself, so he decided the best thing to do would be to give back to the city that's given him a shot in the SHL and given him the chance to be as successful as he is in the first place. Ronlain is incredibly grateful to the Tampa Bay organization and the city of Tampa for what they've done for him.

By virtue of being the son of a former professional hockey player and working with agent Zach Evans, money isn't much of a concern for Zdenko Beranek. He still isn't careless by any means with is money despite having some breathing room in the bank account. Beranek tends to focus his spending towards improving as a hockey player.

Beranek's one weakness is memorabilia. Whether it's jerseys, posters, or die cast replicas of some of his favorite race cars as a motorsports fan, Beranek can't seem to keep his wallet in his pocket. The diecasts in particular are proving to be a growing collection, which will require him to find some new solutions for display and storage in the near future. That, along with some mementos from his father's career and the awards he won last year in the SMJHL, have offered plenty of pretty distractions to decorate his house.

The first time that Balzams got a paycheck it was a special day. Leonids first took a long look at that beautiful check before cashing it in. Getting paid to play the sport you love is a special feeling. Once he was done staring, Balzams went straight to a used car dealership. While most go straight for a brand new car, Balzams was raised to have a tight wallet when he was down on cash. As such, he walked around Boston until he found a 2008 Volkswagen Golf for just under 6,000. It had barely and miles, and it was maintained perfectly. How did he get it for such a good price/ Dealership owner was a huge New England Wolfpack fan. With Balzams as one of the rookies from last season, he talked with the owner for a bit and snagged the car for that price. All it cost him was for Blazmas to sign his Wolfpack jersey of Dick Clapper.

You have to have money to make money right? That's why I stuck my whole 4 million dollars in the casino. It worked out for me last season and I turned that 4 mil into 16, so lets hope that I can do that again. Real estate is cheap in Texas so a couple more big paydays and I can get that big giant house I've always wanted and even put an ice rink in the back yard. Maybe a couple of the other guys can move to the same neighborhood and we can have pick up games amongst ourselves and the local kids. The other thing I would do with the money would be to donate some to charity. There's a lot of less fortunate people out there and it's an amazing privilege to be able to play hockey for money and so I want to pay that forward. Maybe find a local school that needs money for equipment or a new Zamboni or something like that. There's a surprisingly good youth hockey movement in Texas and we gotta keep that going! Grow the game!

I've got a whole laundry list of things I need to take care of now that my checks have cleared. Step one is reorder my cocaine bananas. They're an essential part of my pre, during, and post-game rituals so in order to make more of an impact on the ice I'm going to go back to me Knoot roots. Once I've secured the product I need to acquire a firearm to defend myself. Baltimore be dangerous and while it's great to be playing back in my home town I'm gonna need some protection. Once you get away form the Yard and Inner Harbor things get real dicey real fast. The last priority item on my to-do list is getting some Dunkin' Donuts iced coffee. I've been completely reliant on the coffee we have at the team facility while waiting for my money to hit the bank and holy fuck it's bad. I want my large sugar water with a waxy breakfast sandwich to wake me up in the morning.

I have spent a large majority of my SHL pay on my family and friends. I have always been the kind of person who will help others with money if I have any to spare. This season I have been using my newly acquired funds to fix up some things in my home. I bought a cottage for all my friends and family (and myself) to enjoy throughout the year. I have plans to build onto the back of my current home with a new deck/patio an inground pool and hot tub and a large garage to fit all my vehicles into. I have bought my niece a pet donkey, because she prefers them over ponies or horses and I want to surprise her for her upcoming birthday. Lastly I have looked into renting out a huge building for a major party after we finally get through these trying times. Everybody is invited, this lace can comfortably fit over 5000 people!

Outside of that, Wags has been known for having an eye for fashion and shoes, filling up more than once closet in the last two years with his purchases of new Air Jordans to show up to the arena and red carpet suits for the various premiers he goes to.

So, some people in this league and others like to take “team friendly” contracts. Jakob does not now, nor does he ever, see the logic in this insane decision. Many players make this choice every season. Why could that possibly be? After extensive discussions with many players, the answer seems to be that they are prioritizing the success of the team over their own ability to make money. Jakob is a team player, ultimately, Jakob cares most about the team succeeding than himself personally. But Jakob Hamr cannot be at his best if he is living in discomfort. Jakob being able to play at his top level benefits the team as a whole, so Jakob needs to spend his money living his best life. That’s why this season’s contract is going towards a jacuzzi on the apartment balcony. Truly no athlete’s home in Tampa is complete without it. When you need to relax your muscles, there is truly nothing better. Living in the penthouse can make this purchase expensive, hence the need for the full contract.
