- All 14 teams in the SHL have cycled through GMs in their past. Out of all of the SHL's former GMs, whom would you have wanted to play for the most? In your opinion, what made them a good GM?
I would have loved to play for Jedi while he was GMing the Blizzard. He was great with lines and trades, but he was also a great guy to have in the LR.

- Let's go back to your SHL draft. In hindsight, do you think you would have/should have been drafted in the position that you were, knowing what you know now? Give yourself a redraft position!
At the time, I did think that I deserved to go above 13th overall, especially since I came into the draft with the 2nd highest TPE. However, S20 was the most active draft class ever, and with so many actives, it's understandable how I dropped to the 2nd round. In hindsight, I'd probably end up in the 5/6 range, behind players like Russell, Sarantez, Bojo and Tanner, and on the same tier as Pedersen and Lloren.

Think back to one draft pick that you regret letting slip through your fingers. Who was it, and what do you think they would have added to your team?

Alex Light. I wanted him everyone else wanted Latta cause he seems promising at the time. He later would bust due to unseeable personal issues. <_<

What's the best draft class this site has seen so far, and why?

Pretty sure, S20 was the best known class, but for classes I know a bit better, I'd have to say S31. I would love to say that S36 is the best, but S31 really eclipses our draft class. Seems that more people have either got lazy or been too busy with real life. S31 is loaded though.

At the time(S25), I thought I should have been a low 1st round pick. I ended up going 18th, which isn't bad, but I think it was low. I didn't have a big forum presence, but I was around 15th in TPE, and I thought my rate of progression was enough to make me a 1st round pick. Now, late in my career, I think I've clearly proven I should have been a 1st round pick, probably in the top half of the first round. I've been the 2nd highest TPE forward in the league for the past two seasons. I have 4 finals appearances, and 2 cups. Individual numbers aren't amazing, but I think I've done enough to show I should have gone a fair bit higher.

I'd have to say if there is a past general manager I would have liked to have played for the most it would have had to have been Dangles13 though him and I have had minimal conversations through discord he's given me some of the best advice I've ever received about being a general manager in this league.

Whether it be lines or how to attract a free agent to your team Dangles has taught me a lot in our minimal conversations and made me feel like he truly cared about how I did as a player.

His caring demeanour is what makes me wish as though I had played for him in some point in my career, hopefully one day we can at least share a locker room.[/b]
<!--QuoteBegin-DrunkenTeddy@Oct 13 2017, 11:40 AM

For a short time in gomhl I was Dangles' co-gm. He actually taught me a lot about GM'ing as well and is a great guy. I was losing interest in that league for a bit and stepped down from the position, but he gave me my first real GM gig and I appreciate him for giving me the opportunity and for showing me the ropes. I would definitely be interested in seeing him GM again one day.

Thank you both for the kind words. :-x

If I could play for any former GM, I would play for myself again. I was clearly the best GM in LA Panthers history. I took a last place team to 2nd in the West in one season. If I didn't step down I would have clearly won 2 challenge cups in the second season. I was also able to trade Chris McZehl when no one wanted him, not too shabby hey! I also was able to draft Brian Morley in the 2nd round.

I was drafted 21st Overall in the S33 draft.

With over 1k tpe, a Rayn Jesster trophy, a Challenge Cup and two gold medals... Probably should have been drafted higher, maybe top 3... 2nd right behind Chris York.

Cmon, I do stuff.

<!--QuoteBegin-DrunkenTeddy@Oct 13 2017, 09:48 AM

I think a lot would have changed in the S35 draft, but the top 3 would have stayed the same. After that I expect there would have been some changes if EDM and Izzy had maybe talked more before the draft. I think Edmonton would have selected Garrett instead, Seattle would have taken Bennett with Garrett off the board and Calgary wouldn't have traded down and instead taken Izzy, the guy I believe they were originally targeting at 6.
[/quote]
Knowing what I know now, I'd still take Izzy at #4. 1 through 6 will all be fantastic SHL players, but Edmonton desperately needed more presence on the site. We were targeting the player behind the player and Izzy fit that description the best. Things didn't go exactly as planned, but fortunately it was only a slight detour and we're back on track.

Oh and S25 best draft class obviously.

Thanks for the sig ragnar!

I would say Leafs4ever when he was the GM of the Winnipeg Jets. He was an original on SHL and had been on the site for a long time and still is. He was the GM for a very long period. He was highly respected as a GM and I would have liked to play for him. I never really went to free agency so it was not really ever a option but I would have liked to. The fact he was the Winnipeg Jets for as long as he was, is impressive. He is one person I would have liked to have interacted with on the forums by being on his team since I do not think I ever talked to him before. He is probably one of the greats on SHL.

I think Starkonov should have been drafted higher than 3rd round for sure. Even back then his projections were up near the top but because he was a dark horse no one wanted to take the risk. He should have gone late in the 1st round or early in the 2nd, somewhere between 10 and 20th OA.
