Eagles 0-1-0

2. Sharks , Cameron Carter II 2 (Xavier Paquette 1, Geoff Moore 1) at 19:51 (PP)

2nd period
3. Eagles , Mike Izzy 1 (Louie Garrett 3, Ludwig Koch Schroder 3) at 2:40 (PP)
4. Sharks , Tokek Takshak 1 (Geoff Moore 2, Rafe Ulrich 2) at 7:57 (PP)
5. Eagles , Isak Odegard 1 (Angelo Odjick 1) at 8:23

3rd period
6. Eagles , Ludwig Koch Schroder 1 (Teddy Cuddles 1, Joe Kurczewski 1) at 4:18 (PP)
7. Eagles , Matthew Auston 1 (Roman Augustus 1, Alexis Metzler 1) at 7:07
8. Eagles , Sami Owens 1 (Terrance Nova 1, Ludwig Koch Schroder 4) at 9:58
9. Eagles , Louie Garrett 1 (Matthew Auston 1, Alexis Metzler 2) at 13:00

Goalie Stats
Evgueni Marmeladov (EAG), 22 saves from 25 shots - (0.880), W, 1-1-0, 60:00 minutes
Kata Vilde (SHR), 25 saves from 31 shots - (0.806), L, 0-2-0, 60:00 minutes

Player of the Game

Ludwig Koch Schroder- 1 goal, 2 assists, 1 PPG, 2 PPP

LKS had an incredible game for the Eagles, helping them claw back from being down 2-0 and then tying the game at 3 a piece. He is on a tear in the past two games and now has 5 pts, leading his team.

Takeaways

Sharks- Blew a couple of leads there to eventually fall in the third. They allowed way too many shots by the Eagles (31) and Vilde had another rough game in net. They were 50% on the powerplay but gave up 2 PP goals as well, not something you like to see if you’re trying to win against a deadly squad like the Eagles. They will have to change things up soon if they aren’t clicking.

Eagles- They maintained pressure since the first period but couldn’t solve Vilde until early in the second period. Then the offense started clicking and they got quite a few to take the lead and then some. They outshot their opponent and while Marmeladov wasn’t the best, he was good enough to secure the win. Their PK wasn’t great but they figured it out after the second and didn’t surrender any goals after that.

Sharks 0-2-0

Eagles 1-1-0

Game 2- Pirates vs Fury

Fury 1-1-0

Pirates 0-0-1

Final Score- Fury (3) - Pirates (2) SO

1st period
1. Fury , Goku Muerto 1 (Jeff Brogen 1, Nicky Pedersen Jr. 1) at 9:47
2. Fury , Tony Pepperoni 1 (Rex Kirkby 1, Alex Winters 1) at 14:20 (PP)

2nd period
3. Pirates , Nickolas Klaus 2 (Maxime Bouchard 1) at 13:30 (PP)
4. Pirates , Shouta Aizawa 1 (Hiro Fujikawa 1) at 19:30 (PP)
3rd period
No Goal

Overtime #1
No Goal

Shootout
Pirates, Ola Wagstrom - Stopped by Aleister Cain
Fury, Hippo Passamus - Goal!
Pirates, Alexander Selich - Stopped by Aleister Cain
Fury, Tony Pepperoni - Shot Misses the Net
Pirates, Maxime Bouchard - Stopped by Aleister Cain

Goalie Stats
Vivian Leblanc (PIR), 25 saves from 27 shots - (0.926), OTL, 0-0-2, 65:00 minutes
Aleister Cain (FUR), 18 saves from 20 shots - (0.900), W, 2-0-0, 65:00 minutes

Player of the Game

Vivian LeBlanc- .926 sv%, 1.85 GAA, 25 saves, 10 saves in 3rd period (no goals surrendered)

Though this is another loss for LeBlanc, the team should be very happy with how they played. After letting two goals on ten shots in the first, LeBlanc turned it around and shut the door on the Fury, not allowing a goal on 17 shots for the remainder of the game. Only surrendering a goal to Passamus in the shootout, LeBlanc should be recognized for their outstanding performance against a tough team to play in the Fury.

Takeaways

Fury- Another tight game for the Fury, it is a little concerning that they blew their 2-0 lead in the second. They also had trouble solving LeBlanc after the first, with Passamus rising to the occasion in the shootout. The Fury also gave up 2 powerplay goals, which happen to be the 2 goals that the Pirates scored in the second. If their PK was better they would have won this in regulation. Still, they are undefeated in this tournament.

Pirates- Another tough shootout loss, these guys just can’t score on the PS. Another game where they had to claw back to bring it to overtime, this is not a good look for a team that should be performing better. Their PP was great tonight which kept them in the game, but they didn’t get enough rubber on Cain, and ultimately Cain blanked them in the shootout dooming them to another SOL.

Fury 2-0-0

Pirates 0-0-2

Game 3- Young Guns vs Demons

Demons 1-0-0

Young Guns 0-1-0

Final Score- Demons (4) - Young Guns (3)

1st period
1. Demons , Borromini Cannellini 1 (Michael Scarn 2, Nick Brain 2) at 2:54
2. Young Guns , John Forfeit 1 (Stracimir Petrovic 1) at 14:09 (PP)
3. Demons , Daniel Smeb 1 (Gordie Boomhover 1, Guy Zheng 1) at 15:32

2nd period
4. Demons , Borromini Cannellini 2 (Collin Gibbles 2, Jimmy Slothface 2) at 6:07
5. Young Guns , Alexander Wachter 1 (Kaarlo Kekkonen 1, Julien Villeneuve 1) at 15:04

3rd period
6. Demons , Daniel Smeb 2 (Monkey D. Luffy 1, Guy Zheng 2) at 4:22
7. Young Guns , Kaarlo Kekkonen 1 (Stracimir Petrovic 2, Abel Skinner 2) at 7:52 (PP)

Goalie Stats
Luca Del Vecchio (YNG), 30 saves from 34 shots - (0.882), L, 0-1-0, 60:00 minutes
Peter Larson (DEM), 8 saves from 11 shots - (0.727), W, 2-0-0, 60:00 minutes

Player of the Game

Daniel Smeb- 2 goals, +2, 6 shots, GWG

Smeb had a great game, scoring the second Demons goal to make it 2-1 and then the Game Winning Goal to make it 4-2 before the Young Guns would try and fail to tie it. Smeb found some great chemistry with Zheng and the two terrorized the Young Guns defense and poor Del Vecchio, who tried his hardest to keep his team in this one. Smeb now has 3 pts in 2 games and is looking to expand on this streak.

Takeaways

Demons- The offense had a great night once again, and Zheng is an absolute monster out there. Larson had a real bad night letting in 3 on 11 shots but the good news is the Young Guns were only limited to 11 shots in 60 minutes. Their PP was bad, with no goals on 7 attempts, and their PK was also bad, going 0 for 2 and allowing the Young Guns to stay in this game. If the special teams get fixed this team’s offense will explode even more than it already has.

Young Guns- Well, it was closer at least. They still are being dominated in possession and not getting anything on net, a low point being 2 measly shots in the second (they still scored on one of them). Their special teams were great tonight, going 2 for 2 on the PP and 7/7 on the PK, but the fact they took 7 penalties is alarming. They are in for a tough tournament but they need to face the challenge head on and fight for their first win as a team.

Demons 2-0-0

Young Guns 0-2-0

Game 4- Mustangs vs Astros

Astros 1-1-0

Mustangs 1-0-0

Final Score- Mustangs (4) - Astros (1)

1st period
1. Mustangs , Jack Tanner 1 (Lyndis Vakarian 2, Artemi Berezin 1) at 2:21 (PP)
2. Mustangs , Tor Tuck 2 (Kevin Hamilton 2, Gabriel Wong 2) at 6:40 (PP)

2nd period
3. Astros , Atlas Rush 1 (Nick Connolly 2, Oliver Cleary 4) at 0:25
4. Mustangs , Jack Tanner 2 (Hercules Rockefeller 1, The Dude 2) at 9:21

3rd period
5. Mustangs , Hercules Rockefeller 1 (Dermot Lavelle 1, Tor Tuck 1) at 0:44

Goalie Stats
Beaujeaux Biscuit (MUS), 16 saves from 17 shots - (0.941), W, 2-0-0, 60:00 minutes
Emiko Spector (AST), 29 saves from 33 shots - (0.879), L, 1-2-0, 60:00 minutes

Player of the Game

Jack Tanner- 2 goals, 1 PPG, +1, 7 shots

Tanner was flying out there tonight and had an amazing performance, potting the opening goal on the powerplay and then the insurance marker after the Astros made it 2-1. It’s always special when a defenseman scores a goal, but getting 2 means you are doing something right. Finding open lanes and using the Astros players to screen Spector, Tanner was getting shots on net and 2 of them lit the lamp.

Takeaways

Astros- Another brutal game against the Mustangs, they just have no answer for the stacked defense and Biscuit. Only amounting 17 shots, this somehow feels like a worse showing than last game though they lost by the same amount of goals. Being limited to 3 shots in the second is never a good sign, and they allowed the Mustangs to get 17 SOG in the 1st period. Their special teams were bad as well, and this is just a game you shake your head at and hope things improve in the next one.

Mustangs- Another stellar performance for the red hot team. Everything is clicking for them, the powerplay, the penalty kill, 5on5, goaltending, it’s all fantastic as this team picks up their second win in 2 games. I’m interested to see how they dispatch a tougher team than the Astros but they are looking like an early favorite to win it all.

Astros 0-2-1

Mustangs 2-0-0

Thanks for tuning in to the first sim! Hopefully reading this will give you some hype for the next set of games. These will likely become less verbose as I run out of steam but who knows, I have a lot of hours at work over the coming days.

The index will be updated when I get home, for now this will be all the info provided about the sim.

Stay tuned for Day 4 preview!
