Greetings from the Great White North! You know, up above the states? I know this was Noka’s line but now it’s mine, I don’t care. So, blah blah blah roster announcement, here we go. This year’s management group consisted of @Briedaqueduc as Head GM & @gurbs as Co-GM. We are really excited to present to you the S51 TEAM CANADA WJC roster. We’re hoping for a successful year and the road to the GOLD medal starts now.

Forwards

Jean-Paul Boivin ( C ) WhalersBlizzard @Nokazoa :  Boivin is one of our grizzled veteran players. He’s maybe not the most productive player offensively speaking, with 30 points last season, but he makes sure that his presence is felt physically, with 141 hits. As the captain of this team, his presence will be very important on the ice.

Conor Tanner BerserkersBlizzard @Keygan: Tanner will be a big part of our offense. He will be creating great plays in the offense, while still helping out the defense. Tanner will also be dominant in the faceoff circle, another of his strengths.

Bo Kane (A) Raptorspride @NONAME: This is probably Kane’s last appearance in WJC, getting called up by the San Francisco Pride next season. He’s is one of the best upcoming prospects, and he will have plenty of opportunities to display his talents in this tournament. His outstanding offensive senses awarded him the alternate role.

Ryan Shepard (A) Knightssyndicate @Naosu : Shepard had a pretty productive season with the Knights. His experience and both his offensive and faceoff skills will be a big part of Canada’s success. He is also named alternate for his experience in the WJC.

First-Name Last-Name RaptorsBlizzard @gurbs: Last-Name is getting a promotion, moving up from 3rd line to 2nd line. He has vastly improved his offensive & defensive play since the last tournament, and his skills will be much needed for Canada. This being his 3rd year on the team, expect him to be scoring a bunch of impressive goals in this tournament.

Thicc Cheezy raidersChiefs @sailingdrumstick: As a returning player this year, Thiccccccc boy is looking to have a bigger role on the team. With a projected top 6 role this year, expect a bump in production as Canada looks for that gold medal.

Morgan Forestier KnightsPanthers @ligma: Morgan is going to be a rookie to Team Canada this year, but is in a great position to contribute and solidify the bottom 6. Look for his playmaking ability to help up his linemates and provide for depth scoring for the club.

Nicholas Corrigan WhalersWolfpack @scottisheyebrow: Corrigan is a returning player to the team, last year Corrigan was used in a very sparingly role, expect a little increased role on the team this year. With more minutes, expect Corrigan to dish the puck to teammates, and just like Forestier, rack up them apples.

Jonathan Blair Shl @sad_isnt_it: Blair is an undrafted S53 prospect. He’s a playmaker, who stands out from the others with his precise passing, his nice dekes and his speed on the ice. He hopes to prove to the SMJHL GM’s that they missed out on him in the draft.

Jonathan Hunt Kraken @CanadiaYall: Jonathan Hunt is another prospect that was drafted 86th overall in the S52 SMJHL Draft. He’s looking forward to impress in his first appearance in the WJC by displaying his ability to play on both ends of the ice.

Lucas Leclerc Whalers @noah3calhoun: Leclerc was recently drafted by Vancouver at 45th overall. He’s another player that will be playing in the WJC, and he will be looking to display his playmaking skills during the tournament.

Shane Rinne Outlaws @Srinne: Drafted in the 8th in the latest SMJHL Draft, Rinne is the last of our rookies making the roster this season. He will sadly not be playing a major role, as he’s only adding a little depth to the roster. He will still get to play alongside great veterans and gain some experience. You can definitely expect him to have a bigger role in the future.

Defensemen

Delver Fudgeson BerserkersWolfpack @Massive Coiler: A returning top pair d-man; look for Fudgeson to play a big role in solidifying the back end for Team Canada. Being an experienced d-man expect Fudgeson to have a massive tournament and don’t be surprised if we see is TOI being 20+ minutes each game.

Augustus Wang ArmadaStampede @Ferda: Another returning big-bodied d-man who was on the team last year. Just like the rest of the top 4 d-men, we are expecting big things from our backend and Wang just helps that case. A solid two-way defenseman, Wang is going to be a very valuable piece for our team this year.

Adam Barron raidersJets @charlieconway: Barron is another big part of our defense. He will have a pretty big role in this tournament, probably playing 2nd pairing consistently. As one of the veterans on the ice, he will play a big role in the defending zone, making sure to stop the other teams from making plays. He will also be helping out offensively, him being a two-way defenseman.

Haley Knight raidersRenegades @satf: Knight is one of the oldest on the team. She will bring a lot of experience on the roster. She also has a big role in the offensive zone, accumulating 45 points with the Raiders this season.

Luciano Vessot KnightsStampede @NJBadApple: Vessot is also a big piece of Canada’s team. He has a big role mainly in the offense of the team, as he’s a player who excels in creating plays. After winning silver last season, he will most likely want to get to the gold medal this season, which will motivate him to perform in this tournament.

Sabo Tage WhalersPlatoon @Glyc: This is Tage’s first appearance in the WJC, after having his rookie season with the Whalers. His presence in this tournament is highly anticipated, as he is one of the best prospects out of his draft class. His strengths are mostly in his offensive play, but he’s also pretty solid in the defensive zone.

Simon Moreau raidersRage@treant: Moreau is another returning member of last year’s silver medal team. In the tourney last year, Simon played a very limited role on the 4th pair playing under 10 minutes a night. This year we are trying Moreau in a different role in hopes of getting him more ice-time and a bigger opportunity on the team. In regards to what his new role will be, well you’ll just have to wait and see.

Goalies

Ian Venables Armadapride @"toirekari": No surprise here, Venables should be the backbone for Team Canada throughout the tournament. Look for Venables to be his regular self and provide great stability in net for Team Canada. Having a 425 goalie never hurts, so look out for Venables to have a huge tourney.

Elle Rush FalconsSteelhawks @SlothFaceThrilla: Rush will be backing up Venables again for Team Canada. Very excited to have our goalie tandem coming back for another year and expecting big things out of both our goalies. Rush should provide great depth at the goalie position for us.
