SMJHL SPACE JAM

As the SMJHL draft is today all the draftees have gathered together for an orientation prior to the big event. There's some time for all of the players to mingle and get to know each other a bit. A few players start getting into a pretty loud and animated conversation and a crowd forms around them. A player named Mack Daddy is claiming that there was another player that was supposed to be drafted today, his roommate named Philip Stein. The crazy part is that that Mack claims Stein was messing around with advanced technology and was able to open a portal to another reality. Stein and Mack entered the portal a week ago but only Mack came home.

Mack's story is too crazy to believe, he is going on about how they found a chest while cave exploring in the off season. They finally got around to opening it months later and claim that they found some sort of Alien advanced technology.

Mack Daddy: I know this sounds fucked guys but in this other reality they also play hockey. Over there it's called the NHL instead of the SHL. I can't even begin to explain how magical it is...they players are beautiful angels out of something from only your wildest dreams. We are only colored dots on a white digital ice background...they are full figured flowing creatures in a more multidimensional reality. I can't explain it...I am not a scientist I just play hockey. I just feel like we are stuck in some sort of simulation...the SHL/SMJHL aren't all there is too this universe...we are capable of so much more.

Other players were asking how did Stein get trapped in this alternate reality?

Mack: "We had a few different pieces of Alien tech that we found and one of them was a rod that allowed us to point it at any "Human" in this other reality and absorb their entire consciousnesses in a way. We would learn everything they knew in complete detail, including all of their physical skills. Stein was obsessed with trying to feel what it would be like to play a game in the NHL at this heavenly level of competition in a whole new reality. I won't lie I was caught up in it myself as I am telling you guys...it has to be seen to be believed. Stein was able to absorb the powers of a very powerful NHL star but he was having a lot of trouble getting into the NHL as no team would even watch him practice. He was very impatient and ended up breaking a bunch of laws...he was thrown in jail and I have no idea what happened to him after that. I am home now but I would love for all of you to go back there with me and check it out.

Well it didn't take much convincing, the whole draft class of 115 people agreed within a few minutes and Mack Daddy was leading them back to the portal room. While simply gazing into the portal they can see the other reality and all it's glory. They all agreed that they all didn't really care what happened to Stein and they were going to focus on stealing the powers of NHL stars and making it the NHL themselves. They needed to live this dream and it was all that mattered to them now, as if they were hypnotized.

One by one each SMJHL draftee entered the portal and entered into this new "Human reality". The new NHL season was fast approaching and they knew they needed to get to work fast if the plan they hastily threw together was going to work. They scattered the globe seeking out the NHL talent they wanted to steal and using this alien technology they stole the powers of the NHL players. The NHL players were left in a baby like state once this power was used on them effectively leaving them useless when it comes to the NHL. After all 115 draftees stole powers from an NHLer they NHL and human world were scrambling as they had no idea about these alien attackers from the SMJHL dimension. All they knew was over 100 NHL stars went from peak condition athletes to babbling like babies and no doctor had an answer. The season was drawing close and the NHL commissioner was under all sorts of pressure. With this many stars gone the league would be in danger of folding if they filled all those spots with current junior players. He needed a plan to get some more top talent to the NHL fast. Commissioner Bettman announced that the NHL would hold its first ever open tryouts... Anyone from around the world could come try out. Also due to the amazing circumstances and some teams being hit harder than others, he also announced the league would be holding a draft. All NHL players left and any new players who made the league would be thrown into a pool and one giant draft would take place. It was effectively a reset to the NHL and a restart into a whole new world due to the crisis they were facing he had no other choice.

Now our alien friends the 115 SMJHL draftees were all ready to tryout for the NHL with their new powers. The tryouts went great and before you know it we were heading to draft day! Let's take a quick look at the draft. It was 33 rounds of 31 picks each round so it's too deep to really get into in depth. The Los Angeles Kings won the draft and they went with Daniil Nikiforov 1st overall! The young center who is actually an Alien from the SMJHL reality was lucky enough to absorb the power of Connor McDavid and his new talent was off the charts good. He was the best player at tryouts and the Kings couldn't believe this kid was a hidden gem not playing in the NHL already...where the fuck was he hiding they asked themselves...again they didn't know he was an inter-dimensional alien.

As we can see here in this NHL redraft the entire first round was aliens from the SMJHL reality. The earth humans around the NHL were starting to ask a lot of questions...like where the hell did all of us amazing hockey players come from? Was it a coincidence that just as 100 + NHL players lost all touch with reality...that 100+ superstar hockey players are just randomly show up and start dominating the game? Well anyone who questioned things too much was just labeled a conspiracy theorist and then ignored. Many people were right to suspect something but in the end the entire season and playoffs were played out before anyone had a clue what was going on.

Theo Kondos (PS Theo Fleury was my favorite player growing up as a kid I cried when he was traded to Colorado, great name!) played in all 82 games for the Dallas Stars and was one of the best players in the league. He finished 4th in goals this season with 62!

This was just for fun and please note that your players names were used but as they were using the stats of NHL players this is not an accurate representation of how they will perform.

The way I picked who got what player was I ranked all the draftees based on when they were last online. I then went into FHM 6 and ranked players of the same position by Potential and gave the highest potential players to the draftees most recently online. There was some extra rules I won't get into but generally the idea was if you haven't logged on for a long time before last night, you are going to get a worse NHL player.
