Returning as coGMs both @Dextaria and myself are extremely excited to lead this united nation of players to another run at some World Junior Championship success! While we've been called Team Japan/Norway and Friends in the past, this is one of the most diverse group of players we've had the pleasure of including. Without further ado...

Forwards

Jmac NCheese Falcons (@JMacNCheese) Donning the Team World jersey for the first and possibly only time, this recent transfer from USA to Norway has opened him the same yet different opportunity of being an offensive leader on our team. He scored only 10G-12A-22P with the Falcons but we expect him to be every bit a key contributor.

Dwight Knight Kraken (@hockeyiscool) Returning for a second season with Team World, we are excited to have Knight continue to grow into a leadership position on this team. He's already shown that to be the case in Carolina where he scored 19G-20A-39P on the highest scoring offensive team in the SMJHL.

Niccolo Livius Berserkers (@bbp) Livius is somebody whom I have the pleasure of dealing with. While his stat line of 6G-11A-17P isn't the standout, his ability to stand up for the rookies on his line plus being a physical force and constant energy guy is something that every team wants and hates to play against.

Stein Nilsen Kraken (@bordon23) Nilsen also returns for a second season in his WJC career with other fellow Kraken teammates. In a depth role he was able still put up a respectable 5G-14A-19P season and we hope for him to be able to bring that same kind of contribution for us.

Lucas Hellquist Timber (@NightRobin) Hellquist has made some major steps forward this season and is likely expected to carry the number one C duties on our young team despite his natural position being winger. His 16G-16A-32P season shows his flexibility in being an offensive danger in multiple ways.

Linus Grimstad Kraken (@Turd Ferguson) Finally the last of the Kraken trio we are bringing back, Grimstad will called on to provide the same kind of flexible top 9 production as he experienced in Carolina, frequently finding new linemates throughout this season. That ability to step in with new faces will be key in a short tournament like this and the ability to score 13G-19A-32P like he has won't hurt either.

Grapefruit Lizard Scarecrows (@Frostbite) Another Junior sophomore coming back with another season of experience under his belt, the Lizard is ready to show a more complete game this time around, being the one to produce 18G-17A-35P with the Scarecrows in a big surprise season.

Mack Daddy Raptors (@Mack) One of our two rookies joining our team for the first time ever, Mack Daddy will have the opportunity to gain some valuable international experience and be part of our bright future in future tournaments. If he can bring anything like his 5G-15A-20P rookie campaign season, he'll do just fine with us here.

Ryuuji Minamino Berserkers (@Nhamlet) The league leading scorer is hoping to make his stamp on international ice in the same way he exploded this season with a 25G-28A-53P performance. As one of the offensive leaders, he'll be especially relied on for heavy minutes and converting on the man advantage. He'll be donning the A once more this season for us.

Thorbjorn Gunnarson Armada (@DaftRaincloud) Gunnarson improved on his rookie season with a 10G-19A-29P season just recently and with his second stint with us in the WJC we hope to see the same kind of jump in performance as well.

Hiroshi Ohira Raptors (@Finetales) A return of the Japanese 3rd overall pick in the SMJHL, Hiroshi missed out last season but has shown some renewed life and we're happy to be able to include this him this season as part of our team. We believe that the 8G-12A-20P is only just a start of what he can achieve with his abilities renewed and to be tested again.

Ryu Jones Outlaws (@SFresh3) The 2nd and last of the rookies we have suiting up for Team World for the first time in their careers, Jones is yet another new Japanese winger on the scene looking to make a name for himself. His breakout rookie season of 6G-22A-28P means that he has a lot to show and is more than ready for this level. He is the lone Outlaw representative for us

Defense

Adam Scianna Knights (@RedCapeDiver) Scianna is now one of the few senior statesmen we have on the team and will be expected to set a model example for all the other members of our team. With the Laurifer trophy winning Knights, Scianna was a significant factor offensively and defensively, scoring 15G-15A-30P and we hope that he'll be able to bring that same kind of two-way play for us as well. For his last season with us, we're proud to have him be our Captain one last time.

Jack Klompus Berserkers (@Toast) The Klompmeister makes another appearance. He was relied on heavily last season in our tournament run and surprise, surprise, will be asked of to do the same again. With the Berserkers this season, Klompus scored 10G-17A-27P playing on the second pair.

Mikkel Asmus Sondergard Timber (@Rabidsponge21) A surprise addition to our team this time! The formerly unassigned IIHF player had transferred to Czechia last season but missed out on their selection round this time. However, their loss is our gain and we're more than excited to have the 2G-12A-14P defensive presence patrolling our blueline giving us a exciting group of rearguards.

Axel Meszaros Scarecrows (@ml002) Honestly, were it not for my coGM, I'm not sure that Meszaros would have made it onto the team. I still have flashbacks about how difficult it was to watch him play for us last season and wonder how the Scarecrows management manages to get through it on a regular basis. His meager 1G-14A-15P contribution will hopefully reflect with us without the other downsides.

Ryosuke Sato Whalers (@Dextaria) The young Japanese defenseman from the Vancouver Whalers was given heavy minutes as one of, if not the best defenseman on his team. While he'll be well insulated from needing to do all the heavy lifting on his own, the 4G-10A-14P performance along with regular appearances on both the PP and PK will be a great addition to our team once again.

Mattias Birdstrom Berserkers (@BlackLabelBird) Our last player of the Berserkers selection group (no bias here) Birdstrom had been showing an especially impressive performance with his defensive performance so much that we hoped that he'll be able to replicate the same thing if not better, as a defenseman for us. He scored 5G-18A-23P in a third line role with the Berserkers and will likely get more time with us on the back end.

Goalies

Cillian Kavangh Knights (@takethehorizon) Just like Jmac, this was another transfer brought in by Norway making him eligible to participate with Team World for his last run in the WJC. Being one of the best goaltenders in the SMJHL this season and seasons past, we feel very comfortable having a starting goalie with a 2.14GAA, 0.915SV% and 6 shutout stat line to rely on in the medal rounds.

Name Redacted Whalers (@Skeleton Party) Making an appearance for a second straight tournament, the mysterious Redacted will be one of the brightest pieces in our team. Mostly because his energy in the locker room no matter who is in net makes for a teammate presence that we felt that we needed to have. As well, his performance this season of 3.32GAA, 0.912SV% and 4 shutouts put him in elite category despite the tough season, leading us to believe we have one of, if not the most talented goalstopping tandem.
