TheDraftAnalyst:

"A small, energetic centerman with a knack for spotting openings when capitalizing on shot opportunities. A great two-way player that can contribute in the opponent's zone, lining up shots and scoring when his team needs it the most. Is able to use his quick feet to get into the best position, which is necessary due to his small stature. Actively tries to get into shooting and passing lanes, and isn't afraid to dish the puck to his wingers or his defenders, but he'd much rather take the shot. Is great at creating space to let off his strong snapshot. Isn't incredibly physical, but still backchecks with aggression. Would be a solid pickup to any team needing an eventual 1st line winger in the SMJHL."

Mudaliar's:
"Salvatici truly is an enigma. Hailing from the not-so hockey hotbed of Milan, Italy, its a miracle in its own right that he isn't playing soccer. After producing at a point per game pace in the Italian Serie A hockey league throughout the majority of his junior years, he finds himself ranked relatively high this draft, with potential destinations such as Anchorage eyeing the small centerman. Salvatici is definitely a player that can see the ice, more than a lot of his current SMJHL draft peers. He's been quoted to "be one of the stars" of the SMJHL, but there are some doubts about the physical doubts to Pablo, such as his smaller height, and his slowness in the first few strides of his skating. Once Salvatici bangs these few kinks out, I have full faith in him to be a true difference-maker.

SlobberProspects:
"Salavatici is a mesmerizing player with a full toolbox of skills, both in the technical and mental aspects of the game. He has a great eye for goal, but is still able to make the smart passing plays, and is able to immediately move into advantageous positions upon moving the puck. Salvatici is simply never caught standing still. I can definitely see Salvatici becoming one of the better players of the draft if he keeps developing the way he is right now. I also think that Salvatici can be truly brought to the next level if he gets drafted to the right team with a good developmental system. Playing Salvatici in the middle six with a two way forward, or a playmaker can net sure-fire results, at most a 0.8 points per game level. A really underrated aspect of Pablo is his quick hands with the puck. At times hes able to string together deke after deke, and admittedly he occasionally loses the puck when he does so, I think with a season in the SMJHL he can improve greatly in this aspect of the game, and increase the general skill level of his repertoire. "

SHLNews:
"Pablo Salvatici is a wonderful player with a two-way game. He's certainly able to make defenders silly at times, and he's definitely able to get open with deceptive skating ability. At one point defenders think he's adequately covered, and at the next, the pucks already in the net and the sirens already sounding. He's next level on the powerplay, with their being less and less coverage on him. Either he represents a defensive challenge, and draws more players to him, allowing for his linemates to have an easier time gaining high danger scoring opportunities, or he has more space to work with. He's able to handle tough passes a lot better than most of his draft peers. A couple of faults that can be seen are his lack of a physical game, and his inability to beat players on first-step quickness, dissuading him from pivoting past defenders on a break out pass. This is usually remedied by his general speed, allowing him to eventually gain separation. He can shoot, he can dangle, he can defend, and he has a great mental hold on how the game works at its core. A truly complete player. "

Our take:

Pablo Salvatici is an extraordinary player. But while he has plenty of talents, like every player, he also has a couple of weak areas. As mentioned in the scouting reports above, he doesn't have a knack for the physical game. He can absorb hits, sure, but salvatici is not a player that you'd see finishing checks very often. Being a centerman, he isn't able to be a net-front presence with a poor ability to screen, but this shouldn't be a problem as long as he has a power forward or a two way forward capable of screening the goaltender. Whoever it is will have a great time raking in the points with tip-ins from Salvatici. When on the PK, Salvatici will definitely not block shots, which can occasionally lead to goals that wouldn't happen if he put the body on the line. Needless to say, he lacks the strength and physicality attributed to many pros at the SMJHL level.

But, plenty of players are able to make it into the big leagues despite a lack of physicality, right? Plenty of players are able to work around being undersized. The question is whether or not Pablo Salvatici is able to work around is deficiencies. The reports above definitely provide a case that is obvious once you see him play. His ability to excel in many areas of play, whether it be passing or shooting, or deking and defending, he understands that the game moves fast, and is able to move fast, with and without the puck.

With statistics and the eye test pointing towards Salvatici being a great player, you're going to want to pay attention to the young star. Nearly every scouting report indicates that he's capable of making an immediate impact on any team that picks him up. Whichever team drafts the young Italian will have at best a first-line centerman for years to come.
