S56 GL Division - Roster TPE Analysis
#1

In the last of my divisional analyses, we have a look at one of the harder divisions to predict ... apart from 4th place, that is. I would say 3 of the best 5 teams in the league are in the Great Lakes  and expansion didn't seem to affect them that badly at all.

Now, this look is a bit limited as it doesn't take into account player builds or coaching strategies, but just a look at TPE of the players. I also did not take into account at the moment as to which players are active and still growing, just a snapshot of where they stand as the season is about to begin. Also the look we have assumes that all teams will roll with the best TPE players on the top line, and lowest TPE players on the 3rd line, which is probably not how everyone will build their team. However, with FHM, the strongest teams seem to do the best regardless of how you utilize your players, so I think it still gives a fairly accurate representation of how we can expect the teams to perform.

Without further ado, let's dive right into it:

Stampede  BUFFALO STAMPEDE  Stampede

2092  1899  1870
1754  1477  1000
958    948    800

1893  1794
1477  1269
1100  1023

1270    286

*Analysis: Gods this roster makes me envious. Not a weakness to be found as even their lower TPE players are all young and active and will be making up ground all season. I'm giving them first place because they are the Champs and haven't shown that they have gotten any weaker. We'll see if they can repeat!

syndicate  CHICAGO SYNDICATE  syndicate

1988  1874  1862
1647  1557  1486
985    979    789

2035  1539
1504  1402
1184  1097

1332    465

*Analysis:  I swear these guys were bidding on a 600 TPE defenseman just last week, and now look at them. A couple of trades to shore up that D squad and they are looking real good now. Will this be the season that they finally crack Buffalo and get to the finals? Could be!

Steelhawks  HAMILTON STEELHAWKS  Steelhawks

2014  1935  1910
1906  1578  1245
1233    988    852

1802  1492
1403  1142
1132    929

817    247

*Analysis: I'm worried they may lose some games to injuries from breaking their arms from patting themselves on the back too hard. Super team? In any other division, absolutely, but not in the Great Lakes. Goaltending leaves a lot to be desired competitively, and their defense is not quite as strong as the other 2 teams ahead of them. They do have an outstanding forward group though so they will need to score lots and lots of goals to be able to come out of this group any higher than 3rd. And they might just do that.

Stars  TORONTO NORTH STARS  Stars

1721  1511  1140
1116  1115  1001
989    836    571

1222  1220
928    644
510    295

1912  173

*Analysis: An outstanding goalie, a decent top 6 - in almost every other division Toronto would have a genuine chance to be competitive, but in this group of death they find themselves on the outside looking in. It's a shame they lost some quality players to trades and had to fill in the blanks with less than ideal substitutes. Perhaps a divisional realignment will be in order because these guys will miss when someone like NEW or BAP will make it in, but we'll see how that goes.

-----------

Final Analysis: One of these teams will be in the finals. It's possible that 2 of them may. What fun it would be to see a HAM/BUF final! The league would looooooove that. As I said, I will stick with BUF as my prediction to take the division as they are the defending champs, but I do think CHI has a genuine chance to get it done.

Thank you for reading my medias!

And, as always ...

Good luck to all, and have fun!

After the offseason we had I reserve the right to pat myself on the back as much as I want even if it breaks my arms
