POP!

A satisfying sucking sound emanated from the buccal cavity of the human laying unconscious on the table in front of Narboza.  The Sardangian felt a slight shiver of joy ripple it's way down his spine like a Lampian slither-eel, working its way through his body.  The act of exploring and learning new things in a hands on way was always thrilling and this was no exception.  He placed the item into a small metal canister beside the table and then lowered the tool back down again.

POP!

Another one.  This one of the canine variety and slightly worn down in places.  Holding it tightly in a clamp, Narboza raised it to his eyes and squinted slightly in the bright lights, taking in the shape and make of the item, noting its features with great interest.  Sardangians used a combination of acidic chemicals that were generated by the body in various ways to break down and synthesize their food.  This rudimentary physical way of mastication was just another thing that was incredible too see.  How had these humans survived all of the evolutionary roadblocks placed before them with such rudimentary tools at their disposal?  They were a marvel. A light pinging sound echoed through his ship as he dropped it into the canister along with the others.

POP!

A final specimen, this one took a great deal more effort to remove. The molar was quite embedded into the human's mouth. He was glad to have selected one with such a great collection of teeth to choose from as he had managed to remove several excellent ones with which to perform his research on.  There was quite a bit of bleeding after this particular removal and he used one of his extra arms to grab a few wads of material to shove into the holes in the human's mouth and stem the bleeding. He would deal with the damage after he was done his work.

Placing the last tooth into the canister, Narboza grabbed it and walked over to the materials analyser placed along one wall in his lab.  With the flick of a few buttons it opened up with a light hiss and he placed it inside, closed it again and then tapped away on a few more buttons to begin the process.  The entire thing would take some time so he turned and glanced at the human on his table once more.

This one had been crafty and Narboza had enjoyed the process of trying to capture it without doing too much damage.  His first couple specimens had been captured rather easily and he had started to wonder if perhaps the entire species suffered from some small amount of mental deficiency which allowed them to take on too much trust and place themselves in compromising situations.  This human had given him a bit of a chase and it was refreshing to see that they were capable of more than he had feared - once again astonishing the Sardangian.

Narboza had tried the usual strategies.  Asking the human for some training advice, trying to setup a lunch appointment, and even just saying he would like to meet with him to go over the differences in life in Seattle as compared to Vancouver. The two human habitable zones seemed extremely familiar but since they were both ruled by very different governing parties he wondered what sort of differences there might be between the two.  It was a legitimate question and Narboza would have genuinely enjoyed the discussion, but of course he had other motives.  This particular human seemed to have suspected that something was up and brushed off his inquiries and offers to meet, stating that he was rather busy at the moment with some sort of office duties.

Narboza was undeterred, and in fact a part of him was extremely excited to take things to the next level.

During the offseason he had made plans in between his research and training to take his ship out to Seattle.  The ship's cloaking device had been giving him issues as of late, but a few repairs had it up and running and he managed to find a place to land in Discovery Park.  He made his way into the city proper on foot after that, deciding he needed to continue to work on his fitness.

He had been using a combination of Seattle traffic cameras, webcam access, and location information accessed from the human's phone, to put together a pretty rigorous breakdown of his general behaviour on most days.  After some analysis he discovered that this particular human came home to his apartment and did laundry on a specific night each week.  While he would sometimes encounter other humans in the laundry area, most times he would be alone and it was an excellent opportunity to put into place his plans.

It was laundry night, and Narboza found his way to the human's habitation.  He easily disabled the lock on the front entrance to the apartment and then headed down into the laundry area.  A human was already there, but was finishing up their folding, and the Sardangian stayed out of sight to allow them time to finish and not be startled.  A few minutes later they were gone, hoisting a heavy basket of neatly folded laundry up the stairs to where they lived.  Narboza knew that this particular human was quite prompt and would be along shortly.  With a flick of his eyes he spotted his hiding spot - a darkened area behind the washing machine where he could remain hidden until he needed to reveal himself.  He wandered over and tucked himself in behind, waiting for the human to come along, and shifting his metabolism into a state of quiescence in preparation.

As expected, the human was quite prompt.  A quiet humming sound burbled it's way from his throat as the door to the laundry facilities swung open, the human using its posterior to push it as its hands were occupied with a massive load of dirty laundry.

Narboza waited.

The human then swung around and the humming increased in intensity.  A popular human song. Something about Butter. He had heard it emanating from many humans as of late, though generally from those of the younger female variety.  It seemed this human was also hooked on the beat.

A few more steps and then the human placed the large basket on the ground in front of the washing machine that Narboza was hiding behind.  He grabbed a few articles of clothing and then turned to place them into the machine, and that was when Narboza rose and greeted the human with a wry grin.

"Laundry day Cassius?"

The human froze for just a moment before he reacted by throwing the laundry into the Sardangian's face before turning and heading for the door.  Narboza reacted as well, swatting the laundry away with one arm even as he used a couple more to grab the edge of the washing machine to hurl his own body over it and towards the fleeing human.  The human was fast, and Narboza knew that he would need to put forth a great effort to catch him before he alerted others and made things far messier than they needed to be.  It reached the doorway and had just started to pull it open when Narboza leaped forward and slammed into him, causing both of them to go careening into the door and slamming it shut.

The human reached up with both his his hands and attempted to grab Narboza by the head but the advantage of having multiple arms was too great to overcome. Even while two of his arms grabbed the human's arms, another two were beginning to grab the human's legs, while two others were helping Narboza get himself off the ground. It all happened quickly and Cassius was soon enveloped in Narboza's much larger body, his thrashing slowing as the Sardangian squeezed tightly to slow the flow of oxygen to his brain.

It took some time for Narboza to clean up the area and remove any traces of the fight.  In the end the human had soiled itself as it struggled to try and escape, and it was an unpleasant experience to deal with.  It was essential that any trace of what had occurred was removed so that other humans who would do laundry that evening would not suspect anything.  He even had to deal with the laundry basket, and since there was no easy place to store it he decided to take it with him to his ship.

It was an exciting encounter and Narboza was hopeful that more humans would resist in the future and use other tactics so that he might learn more about how they thought and how they approached combat.

Several hours later and his time with the human known as Cassius Darrow was over.  He had been selected for his excellent selection of teeth and it was a wonderful decision, as the samples he had were in impeccable condition. He had already begun the process of recreating false teeth for the human, and the technology required to surgically implant them back in without the human knowing was fairly straightforward by Sardangian standards.  The human may feel some slight discomfort for a day or two in the area where the neurosutures were located, but would suspect it was perhaps just some old popcorn kernals stuck in place and would resolve itself in short order.  Of course the memories of the encounter were routine to replace at this point as well, and it was not long before Narboza was finished with everything he needed to and was preparing to return the human back to his habitat.

Cassius Darrow would return to his role as captain none the wiser, but with several teeth in his mouth that he would never know were not of human origin.  Even the human dentists would not be able to tell the difference except that they would likely degrade at a slightly higher rate than the rest of his teeth - an unfortunate side effect since he had not fully been able to recreate the enamel without further analysis on the samples.  In the future this too would be possible.

As he placed the human male back into his bed, he also placed a basket of freshly cleaned laundry on the floor beside him.  He figured that taking care of this small act was the least he could do for the human, as he would not have had time to take care of it due to taking part in his research.  It would be a pleasant surprise for the man and Narboza decided not to place a false memory for this particular act in his brain.  At times he liked to leave some dead spaces there to allow for the humans to remain curious about why they could not remember certain things.

Three seasons and three specimens.  This was to be an extremely long process, but with every season that went by, and every piece of new research added to his collection, he was getting closer to being able to create the perfect SHL player.  It would be the most glorious of long term projects and the Sardangian was excited to keep on doing the work.
