With a surprise playoff run behind them and a rookie class of historic proportions rising up to carry the next generation of Citadelles, all eyes are on Quebec City and their vacant captaincy. While rumors buzzed throughout the city, the players themselves were hard at work at training camp to take on the preseason, where a natural set of leaders emerged. Comprised of veterans and rookies alike, here are your newest QCC captains:

Primary Alternate: Ryland Murphy - @TonyW19

Wearing the "A" on his sweater after a strong rookie season, Ryland's understated presence is felt across the QCC locker room day in and day out. He's the first to the facility every practice, and the last one to leave. Leading a small rookie class in a rebuild season last year, Murphy quickly got to work, building up his fellow rookies while diving headfirst into whatever the team needed, from scoring on the ice to working with the scouting and management team in the offseason. His work ethic and dedication stood out to SHL scouts as well, leading to a first round selection by the Calgary Dragons.

Home Alternate: Frøya Solberg - @NaomiMannequeen

One of two rookies to split captain duties this season, Frøya was a top draft target for Quebec and several other teams. The 7th overall selection in the S73 draft didn't disappoint, bringing energy, leadership, and a strong scoring presence on the ice from day one. A first round selection comes with first round pressure, but "Frøyø" has embraced that challenge wholeheartedly, and her locker room presence will carry her and the rest of the team far. Frøya will wear the "A" for this season's home games.

Away Alternate: Céleste Desjardins - @skyrrhawk

Remember the number 46, because that's how many times SMJHL teams missed out on a superstar talent in the S73 draft. Making their way to QCC at pick 47, few realized at the time that "Célly" was the complete package. Desjardins made an instant impact to the locker room on draft day, and that influence has only grown since notching two points in their preseason debut. Céleste brings a much needed fire to the team, and will look to strike fear in the opposition while wearing the "A" in this season's road games.

Captain: Net Man - @Hordle

What else is there to say about Net Man? The heart and soul of the locker room, the Citadelles' veteran netminder has gathered a cult following over the last few seasons, quietly stepping in to help the rookies while adamantly denying any leadership qualities of his own. Despite his own protests, the voice of the team was heard when the votes were cast, and their landslide selection couldn't be better. Net Man has been a shining example of QCC's best values, bringing his positive spirit, mentorship, and on-ice presence to bear for his fourth and final season in the J. The Manhattan Rage prospect has a bright career ahead of him, but has already established a lasting legacy in the ranks of Quebec's best captains.
