Blizzard Blizzard Blizzard Blizzard Blizzard vs. Forge Forge Forge Forge Forge
Here are this season's tasks for CW. The maximum is 8 TPE. Mix and match whatever tasks you desire, but the maximum TPE to be earned from this is 8.
The deadline is THURSDAY NOVEMBER 16th at 11:59pm PST.
Please copy/paste the prompts (including the # of TPE) into your post; it makes it much easier to grade and track.
This PT is for SHL players and send-downs only. If your player is S74 or S75, that's not you.
One (1) affiliate claim from either PBE,  WSBL, SSL, or the ISFL will be accepted for 3 TPE! *if you’re claiming this and have a different username on the affiliate's site then you need to state that in your post to get credit.*
Please feel free to PM with any questions or concerns.

SHL/SMJHL Finals

Code:
1. CW TRIVIA, 3 TPE max - 1.5 TPE for participation, 0.5 TPE for each correct answer. This is completed through a Google form linked below. Make sure to spell your answers correctly or you will not get credit. Post your verification word in your CW post.

Code:
2. Written, up to 4 TPE - Grab Bag: Pick up to 4 Challenge Cup related topics to write about! Each topic is worth 1 TPE. Each answer must be 50+ words.
a. Two new finalists mark the end of a dynasty in the west and the return of an old heavyweight in the east. Pick either of our finalists, and tell me what about them impresses you the most!
b. The Forge have won a cup with this core, while the Blizzard are sniffing this air for the first time in a while. Who would you rather be - the veteran team that's been here and won it before, or the hungry youngsters taking their first shot at glory?
c. The Blizzard upended a long-time nemesis in the Aurora to get here, while the Forge avenged several previous losses to the Wolfpack as well. Who had the more impressive victory to punch their ticket to the cup final, and why?
d. If it ain't broke don't fix it: Who you got? Who wins? Why?

Code:
3. Written, 3 TPE, Forged in Fire (150 words min.)
The Forge and the Patriotes both won cups in recent memory, but while the Patriotes called it a window and tore everything down to the boards, their expansion brothers in Philadelphia have found a way to get back to the dance. How did they do it? Can they keep it up? What should teams like Winnipeg and New England learn from them?

Code:
4. Written, 3 TPE, Winter is Coming (150 words min.)
Unlike their rivals, who have literally never been bad, the Blizzard were deep in the doldrums not too many seasons ago. Now that they've reached the mountaintop, how did they pull off such a strong rebuild? What can other teams currently facing hard times learn from their success?

Code:
Code:
5. Written, 3 TPE, No Time for Caution (150 words min)
Pick the finalist you think is going to win, and describe what that team needs to do to overcome their opponent and take home the cup. The Forge had the stronger offense in the playoffs, while the Blizzard had the stronger defense. Will those trends hold? Will Justin Time carry Edmtonton to victory?

Graphics and Podcasts

Code:
6. Graphic, 3 TPE, The Climax
Draw the final battle! You can show me the players going head-to-head, you can draw the mascots duking it out, or you can make any kind of hype poster of your choosing. It's the Forge vs the Blizzard, I want to see Fire and Ice! Go!

Code:
7. Graphic, 3 TPE, Wack Attack
Draw a player on one of the cup finalists being sent to the penalty box, believing the call against them was unfair. Any depiction of opposing players should use the other cup finalist.

Code:
8. Graphic, 3 TPE, Upon Further Review
Draw how your team's season went! As long as I can tell which team you play for and it conveys some kind of sentiment about your team's season, you'll get credit.

Code:
9. Podcast, 3 or 4 TPE
Record a mini-podcast on any of the below topics!
-The S72 Challenge Cup series
-The S72 Four Star Cup series
-An S72 IIHF preview
1 person Mini-Pod: 3 TPE for 8 minutes or 4 TPE for 10 Minutes
2 person Mini-Pod: 3 TPE for 10 Minutes or 4 TPE for 15 Minutes
Post the direct link to your podcast.

IIHF

Code:
10. Written, 3 TPE, IIHF Analysis (150 words min.)
How do you think the IIHF federation you play for will do this season? Will you be better than last seasons? Why or why not?

Code:
11. Written, 3 TPE, Teammates is Teammates (150 words min.)
Do you have any IIHF teammates that play your own SHL team? Do you feel your chemsitry from the SHL carries over to the IIHF? Does your GM play you together, or not? Should they?

Procrastinators

Code:
12. Written, 2 TPE - The Procrastinator Special! (100 words min.)
Looks like [TEAM] won Season 73! Who won and why? What could the other team have done differently to change the result? What was your favorite part of the series?

Code:
13. Graphic, 3 TPE - The Procrastinator Special!
Congratulations, graphics-master procrastinator! Much like the written-word-loving procrastinator, you too have a special task! Create a post-series splash screen detailing the outcome of the series, or highlighting the player that you think should be playoff MVP. Include at least 3 stats!

Once again this is due THURSDAY NOVEMBER 16th at 11:59pm PST.

TRIVIA

Excelsior

A:

I am leaning towards Edmonton with this, they are a roster built for wins now and to continue down a successful path in the future.  They have the makings of a dynasty with an amazing goalie, Justin Time, to build from the crease out with.  A franchise forward Evan Winter, with an amazing support crew around him.  And a fantastic defense core ready to compete.  The roster top to bottom is dangerous for a long, long time.

B:
Taking nothing away from a veteran roster, they know how to get it done, how to prepare and how to win it all.  I am going to lean towards the newbies, and calling them newbies is not exactly fair.  They have paid their playoff dues and worked their way up for a few seasons now getting deeper and deeper runs.  This team knows how to win and Edmonton’s “newbies” are the team that will win the cup.

C:
I am going to say the Forge had the more impressive win, and this is nothing against Winnipeg, New England, or Edmonton.  The Forge, a great team, doesn’t have the same talent as the others listed above.  It took some amazing coaching, and players playing just slightly above their average levels to win a hard fought battle against New England.  Edmonton and Winnipeg are close to par in talent, so give credit where credit is due with a big win for the Forge.

1 TPE

D:
Edmonton wins it all.  They have in my opinion the best roster in the SHL right now.  They have the best goalie in the SHL right now.  They have paid their “playoff dues” and lost against some of the best teams learned from their mistakes, and this core has done everything to get to the very top and win it all.

5.
My clear choice is Edmonton.  This is a team built to be a modern SHL dynasty and this is the year that starts it all off.  They have a relatively young core with years left of top level performance and a young support crew that is just starting to reach their prime.  This team’s excellence and strategy to win will be to lean on the stars of the team.  They will be led by none other than Evan Winters, as an opponent you can game plan on how to stop Winters all you want, but it will be for naught as you can not contain a player like that.  He has all world talent surrounding him making that job of holding Winters down even more difficult whether it is Luke Laraque, or Benjamin Surki.  If you do manage to slow down Winters even a bit, then the second line attacks with the talented Jack St.Clair and his linemates.  Their defense is second to none with the amazing Lousie St.Martin leading the pack but not to be outdone by Emil Egli.  Finally, they have the best goalie in the league stopping the puck making scoring goals a true premium for the Forge.  This is a roster that is too strong and too well built to lose in a 7 game series.  Will they lose one or two games, probably, but they will not lose 4, congrats to Edmonton our new Champions.
