Jonathan Lundberg
@Rich

A journeyman forward, one of the best hitters in the league. His rights traded 3 times, and then traded actually 6 different times. Drafted all the way back in S25, Lundberg was drafted in the 2nd round, 18th OA to the Calgary Dragons. However he did not play a single game with them.

Right before he was suppose to be called up, Lundberg was traded[ to the West Kendall Platoon for a conditional 1st round pick.. With the GM of Calgary saying
“Special thanks to Johnathan Lundberg (Rich) for his time here in Calgary. He spent 4 seasons with us in the locker room and was always a positive helpful member who was very well liked. A great guy who was always open and honest with me about his intentions, much respect. His player is more than ready to break into the SHL and I'm happy to give him that opportunity in West Kendall. Thanks for everything Rich and best of luck!”
S28 saw Lundberg play with the Platoon, scoring 7 goals, 11 assists for 18 points. Nothing spectacular, only playing 16 minutes a game. That too, would be Lundbergs only time in West Kendall. Lundberg was then subsequently traded to the Manhattan rage for a 1st and a conditional 2nd. With the GM of Manhattan Mook saying
“Really excited to bring Rich to the Rage organization! We really are turning a new leaf in Manhattan and this is another big step in the right direction for us. With our top 6 shaping up nicely, a strong developing goaltender and a good defensive core, we are well on our way to be a big threat in the east.”

S29 begins, and Lundberg plays 37 games for Manhattan. Scoring 8 goals, 23 assists for 31 points. Things were looking great for Lundberg points wise, his 2nd season, getting closer to being a PPG player. But after those 37 games, Lundberg was traded for a 3rd time to Winnipeg. After Lundberg expressed not wanting to re-sign in Manhattan and heading to FA. The final 11 games only saw lundberg score 1 goal, 4 assists for 5 points. Bringing that season total to 50GP, 9 goals, 27 assist for 36 points. Pretty good for it only being his sophomore season.

In the S29 offseason, Lundbergs rights were traded to the Toronto North Stars who tried to pitch an early free agency bid. But it was not the North Stars who signed him. Lundberg would sign a 2 seasons deal with the New England Wolfpack for S30 and S31.

S30 Lundberg would score 9 goals, 20 assists for 29 points. He would also win his 1st Challenge Cup with the Wolfpack. If you know anything about the Wolfpack history, in S31 Lundberg would win his 2nd Challenge Cup of his career as well. S31 also saw him score 11 goals, 22 assists for 33 points. A good cog in the New England Wheel. He would even re-sign for a season with the Wolfpack. S32 saw career high in goals, with Lundberg scoring 13 goals, 22 assists for 35 points. Yet, Lundberg wanted a free agency experience, and decided to pursue free agency.

New England traded his rights to the Stampede, but Lundberg did not sign there. However, he signed a monster deal with the Portland Admirals(now San Francisco Pride). Signing a 3 seasons, 10 mil, 13 mil, 10 mil contract.

S33 saw the first breakout of what Lundberg would eventually be known for. Scoring 19 goals, 25 assists for 44 points. This is the first time Lundberg had 150+ hits in his career. First time hitting 40+ points in his career too. For that, Lundberg was nominated for the Jeff Dar Award for best two-way forward for the first time.

S34 saw Lundberg crack 20+ goals for the only time of his career too. Scoring 21 goals, 27 assists for a career high 48 points. He also had a career high 179 hits too. Securing him his 2nd Jeff Dar nomination in a row. S35 saw another amazing season. 17 goals, 26 assists for 43 points and 176 hits. Having stability in staying on one team, and exploding into a two-way forward. This was Lundberg’s bread and butter.
Signing a 3 seasons extension in Portland, he would soon find out that he wouldn't be staying there for long. With Portland blowing up in S36, Lundberg would find himself on the move again. S36 saw him play in portland for 36 games before getting traded to the Seattle Riot in a monster deal. Finishing the season with 14 points in 15 games. Finishing hte season with 35 points, and 163 hits.

S37 brought along Lundberg’s career high in points. With 17 goals, 34 assists for 51 points. With a career high in hits with 195. Lundberg had his only All Star Team for his career, getting on the 3rd All Star Team. S38 Lundberg managed to hit even more. Scoring 14 goals, 28 assists for 42 points. Lundberg managed to crack 200+ hits for the first time in his career. Getting 229 hits for that season. Earning him his 3rd Jeff Dar Nomination.

S38 offseason would see Lundberg on the move once again though. traded to the Minnesota Chiefs, and then Minnesota signed him as well.. Seattle was looking to rebuild, and Minnesota was looking to win a cup. S39 Minnesota and Lundberg did just that. Winning his 3rd Challenge Cup of his career. He also had a great season. 14 goals, 25 assists for 39 points. 201 hits too. Now his 7th consecutive season with above 150+ hits in a season.

S40 Lundberg had another productive season. 16 goals, 28 assists for 44 points. 193 hits. extending in Minnesota for another 3 seasons. Lundberg enjoyed having that consistency. And it showed in his play. S41 saw 40 points and 207 hits. S42 saw 30 points and 185 hits. And then in S43 saw Lundberg get 29 points and 155 hits.

Now 11 straight seasons of 150+ hits. 2,452 hits in his career. Lundberg is now chasing to become the 3rd player to reach 3,000 hits. Points are secondary, hits are first.

Signing in Toronto for S44, Lundberg had 23 points, and 189 hits. Only 359 hits to go until 3000.
Signing back in San Francisco for S45. Lundberg scored 28 goals, but most importantly 180 hits. Extending Lundberg for S46. Playing 38 games with San Francisco, racking up 157 hits(2978 career hits). Lundberg was traded for the final time to Edmonton. In the final 12 games, Lundberg racked up 40 hits.

S46 saw Lundberg crack 3000 hits. The 3rd player ever to do it, only behind Taylor McDavid and Willie Weber. With that, S47 would be his last. Returning to Minnesota for the final time. Lundberg scored 27 points and 155 hits for his final season.

For his career, Lundberg played 999 games. Had 262 goals, 441 assists for 703 points. Good for 27th all time in points when he retired. He was also 23rd in games played. Most importantly though, he was the 3rd player to ever hit 3000 hits. And the 2nd forward to do so. Finishing his career with 3173 hits, good for 2nd all time. Even today, he is 4th all time in hits. With only Mike Izzy and Andreas Kvalheim ever to pass him. (Slip McScruff has 3129 hits and is still active). That's Lundbergs legacy. That was his bread and butter of his game.
