Due to inaccuracies in determining eligible players before the Season 67 ballot, ALL players who started their eligibility in Season 66 or before (The last season played must be between S57 - S64) will receive one extra season of eligibility.

This means the S66 1st Season Eligible players will be eligible through S73 instead of S72, and all those who started their eligibility before S67 will be eligible for one extra season, assuming they were still eligible at that time.
The players with an extra season of eligibility have been marked with an asterisk ( * ).

Players with eligibility starting in S67 and after will retain their original 7 seasons of eligibility.

The eligibility years listed will not change aside from allowing 8 seasons of eligibility for the classes before S67.
After the Ceremony for S73, the maximum number of eligible seasons will return to 7.

Good evening, and welcome to the Season 72 SHL Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony!

To start tonight, I would like to remind everyone of the voting rules, and some changes that we've made to help accommodate for some mistakes and errors that were made in the past with regards to eligibility and who was on the ballots.

Each member of the committee (10 people in all) nominates 5 retired athletes from the list of eligible players and ranks them 1 through 5, which in turn gives these players points according to their rank (10 points for 1st, 7 for 2nd, 5 for 3rd, 3 for 4th and 1 point for 5th).
Each committee member must also provide a short written piece to back up their choices.
These points are then totaled and all players who receive 35 points or more are selected to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

For GMs, committee members are allowed to place 2 votes, with 1st being 10 points and 2nd being 5, and a GM must receive at least 65 points to be inducted into the Hall of Fame

Additionally, due to inaccuracies in determining eligible players before the Season 67 ballot, ALL players who STARTED their eligibility between Season 59 and Season 66 (The last season played must be between S57 - S64) will receive one (1) extra season of eligibility.

This means the S66 1st Season Eligible players will be eligible through S73 instead of S72, and all those who started their eligibility before S67 will be eligible for one extra season, assuming they were still eligible at that time.
The players with an extra season of eligibility have been marked with an asterisk ( * ) in the eligibility list.

Players with eligibility starting in S67 and after will retain the original seven (7) seasons of eligibility.

The eligibility years listed will not change aside from allowing eight (8) seasons of eligibility for the classes before S67.
After the Ceremony for S73, the maximum number of eligible seasons will return to seven (7).

Before we get to celebrate those who made it, let’s take a chance to recognize those who graced our ballots for the final time this season.
Twenty players were on the ballot for the final time during Season 72 who unfortunately did not garner enough votes to be inducted into the SHL Hall of Fame.

Our first inductee tonight had a lengthy career, playing for his first team for 9 seasons and 8 seasons with his second, playing a defensive defenseman role in both locations. While his awards success came with his second team, winning 2 Bojo Biscuits and being nominated for another, his cup success came with his first squad, winning 3 cups in those 9 seasons. With 3 All-SHL appearances as well, it's not hard to see why this player was at the top of several committee members' ballots. Please join me in welcoming our first inductee for Season 72 . . .

Committee Quotes:

"Darrow is one of the most well-rounded defensive D to ever play (so far). His averages remained very comparable to his already inducted peers after a lengthy career, and his two Bojo wins reflect that. He was a constant presence on both the PP and PK, and has a massive SB total that eclipses literally every D currently in the Hall."

"The prototypical two-way defender, Darrow was good, but never great offensively so he tends to get overlooked. That being said he was nothing short of brilliant over his 17-year career being named to the All-SHL team 3 times and being nominated for the Bojo 3 times as well, winning it twice. Add 3 Challenge Cups to the resume and he's a lock."

"Elite two-way defender who won his two Bojo Biscuit awards after moving to a basement-dwelling expansion team, spending the heart of his award-contending years in a spot that likely held him back from additional individual success. He had the offensive numbers to back him up as someone who was more than a shutdown defender."

Our second inductee this evening played all but two seasons of his lengthy career in the Windy City, playing more than 1000 games for the Syndicate. He retired as the 2nd all-time leader in scoring, which is an incredible feat. While he has been surpassed since in a higher-scoring era for the SHL, this shows how exemplary his career was during the era he played in. He was recognized with 4 All-SHL nods, a nomination for the Mexico, and was a major contributor to two Challenge Cups. Please join me in welcoming our second inductee . . .

Committee Quotes:

"Franchise forward with MVP consideration and other accolades"

"Despite winning no major awards, Smeb retired as the 2nd all-time leader in scoring. While he has been surpassed since in a higher-scoring era for the SHL, this goes to show how exemplary his career was during the era he played in. He was recognized with 4 All-SHL nods and a nomination for the Mexico, along with being a major contributor to two Challenge Cups."

"Super long career where he snagged two cups, a Rox Mexico nomination, and 4 All-SHL nods. While the Mexico nom helps to indicate this, Smeb, unfortunately, seems to have spent the vast majority of his career flying under the radar. He finished his lengthy tenure with an impressive .844 PPG, all while being a mainstay on the PP, PK, and the boards whereupon he repeatedly smashed his opponents."

"Smeb has 4 All-SHL team noms which is the most out of any eligible forward, scored over 1,000 points in a long 22-season career, has the most points out of any eligible HoFer, won a couple of cups, and has a Mexico nomination."

Our third inductee for the Class of Season 72 had a much shorter career than our previous two, only playing just over 700 games for Buffalo. But don't let his shorter career make you think he doesn't deserve this honor. He was nominated for the Stevens 3 times, winning it once, and was named to the All-SHL team 4 times. Add in 2 Challenge Cups and a playoff MVP nomination and most of our committee was able to see that this player was well deserving of his nomination to the Hall. Please join me in welcoming our next inductee . . .

2x 1st Team All-SHL
1x Aidan Richan Nominee
1x Anton Razov Nominee
2x Scott Stevens Nominee
1x Scott Stevens Winner
2x Challenge Cup Champion (S55, S60)

[Image: 6090.png][Image: 5017.png]

Committee Quotes:

"While it would have been nice to see him add a few more seasons to the end of his career Wang was brilliant over his 12 seasons in the league. He was nominated for the Stevens 3 times, winning it once, and was named to the All-SHL team 4 times. Add in 2 cups and a playoff MVP nomination and I think it's a no-brainer."

"With all the knocks he has been getting for having a "short" career, Wang still had 4 All-SHL showings. That number took others significantly more seasons to accomplish if they even got that many to begin with. He had 4 nominations over three separate awards and won the Stevens once. His PPG is comparable to the D Hall average, and his "useless stat" +/- is positively obscene at 391 and tops everyone else already inducted."

"Wang had a shorter career but still managed to accomplish quite a few things, one of the more outstanding ones is getting a Razov nom as a defender, that nom is usually going to forwards or goalies. Also has 4 All SHL noms, 1 Stevens wins and 2 noms. A high P/GP average."

Last, but certainly not least, our fourth and final inductee this evening is another with more than 1000 games played, and all for the same team. The Dragons were more than happy to keep him around for his entire career, as he had, over a 20-season career, 3 Stevens nominations times, was nominated for the Bojo 2 times, and was named to the All-SHL team 5 times. He was also able to help them win the Challenge Cup in Season 50. Please join me in welcoming our last inductee of the class of Season 72 . . .

Brennan Kennedy Jr.

@bk1689

Dragons : S46 - S65

Career Regular Season Stats:
GP
: 1144 | G: 176 | A: 465 | P: 641 | +/-: 219 | Hits: 1674 | SB: 1732

Career Playoff Stats:
GP: 164 | G: 19 | A: 70 | P: 89 | +/-: 18 | Hits: 306 | SB: 266

Awards:
1x Rookie All-SHL
3x 2nd Team All-SHL
1x 1st Team All-SHL
2x Bojo Biscuit Nominee
3x Scott Stevens Nominee
1x Challenge Cup Champion (S50)

Committee Quotes:
"BKJ takes my top spot in this ballot due to him having a high amount of all SHL noms at 5 together with 2 Best Defender noms, and 3 Stevens noms + a high longevity with a physical edge compared to the usual suspect for the HoF."

"5 All-SHL selections (second most among any eligible players for the HoF), a couple of Stevens and Bojo nominations with 5 total award nominations (tied for second-most amongst eligible defensemen), one of the strongest two-way defensemen on the ballot playing a big role on the PK and PP over his consistently good 20 season career. A solid 0.56 career point per game average with 641 career points, and over 1,500 hits and 1,500 shots blocked."

"While Kennedy Jr. was never fortunate enough to win an award he was always in the mix and gave voters a [very] long look. Over a 20-season career, he was nominated for the Stevens 3 times, nominated for the Bojo 2 times, and was named to the All-SHL team 5 times. I guess he'll have to take solace in his Challenge Cup win."
