Hello SHL!

We are hiring a new sim team head! @_Blitz_ has informed us that he will be stepping down after this season, and we’d like to get some overlap for the transition process so we are opening apps for this now. We want to thank Blitz for shepherding the sim team through some tough times and for the amount of work he has put in over the past year and a half.

When we set out to hire a unified sim team head last time, we had a lot of ideas and not a lot of practical experience to rely on when it came to what that role and procedure would look like. We initially intended to hire only one sim team head, were given the opportunity to hire two individuals for that job, and eventually fell back to one person along the way. We have a much clearer idea of our expectations and hopes for this position now, so our hiring process this time will look slightly different.

The job responsibilities for this role will still include:

Hiring/maintaining a team of simmers to carry out simming for all four leagues
Making sure that simmers follow a set of standards developed in coordination with the head offices, including standards for both presentation and procedure
Coordinating sim scheduling across all four leagues
Working with all head offices to improve the viewing experience for users
Addressing any issues in a timely manner and ensuring good communication between simmers and GMs

However, we now have a few more “must-haves” that we want to be clear about as we go into the hiring process. Here are additional things we will be expecting/looking for in this role.

Hiring a co-head. We have seen that this amount of work is something we do not want to give to one individual alone. We want our sim team head to have backup and assistance every step of the way. You may hire your own sim team co-head (subject to HO final approval) or we can do that hiring process for you, but we want this to be a two-person effort going forward.
Working with HO to codify a clear standard procedure for situations that may or may not require re-sims. Currently, we have only one or two clearly precedented scenarios in which a re-sim is the standard course of action, and we rely heavily on that precedent. However, there are other scenarios in which a re-sim might be necessary, which would currently necessitate an HO vote. This isn’t always possible or convenient since a voting majority of HO can’t be around for every single sim, so we want to lay out clear standards for this, upon which simmers (and lone HO members) can rely in the event that it’s necessary.
Transitioning our sim experience from YouTube to Twitch (with archived videos still living on YouTube for posterity). Working with HO to find new and exciting ways to utilize twitch’s functionality (channel points, merch store integration, etc).
Hiring and scheduling commentators for select streams throughout the season
Working with HO/PT team to coordinate a schedule of live games that corresponds with prediction type PTs (hat trick, primetime)
Hiring an adequate number of simmers to provide reliable backup in the event that the scheduled simmer is unable to sim
Work with Blitz to ensure a smooth transition and instate some new procedures that have been in the works behind the scenes

To be clear, we are not looking for someone to reinvent the wheel here. The priorities here should be reliability and consistency in simming. We (head office) have a clear idea of what we want out of the sim experience, we are looking for someone to make it happen.

We do not have a set application template for this position, and we do not expect an essay of earth-shattering sim changes. What we are looking for is an indication that you are reliable, a good (and respectful) communicator, good at delegating tasks, and any prior experience you have that might help you succeed in this role.

Pay for this position is 14.5M per season, with the possibility of a PT pass in the future depending on the workload and division of labor. Current SHL/SMJHL GMs may not serve in this role (if you are currently a GM and are interested in leaving that role for this one, please mention that in your app).
