S40 Los Angeles Panthers Team Captains With the Panthers deep run into the post-season, it became clear to management that a new group of players had stepped forward and established themselves as the leaders of the team. All three of the teams captains were integral player's during the Panthers post-season run and will undoubtedly be among the teams leaders again this season. There are a number of players beyond the group who will officially wear the letters who are excellent in the locker room and could easily have been among the players selected. Alternate Captain: Sophia Bennett Entering her 4th season with the team, Sophia Bennett has established herself as one of the Panthers leading voices in the teams locker room. Sophia is always willing to help out when people have questions and is very helpful keeping everybody up to date with what's going on around the team. Bennett recently won the re-named Ruutu Award for leadership and media presence. Bennett is among the brightest young players in the entire SHL and the Panthers hope that she stays here for years to come. Alternate Captain: Maximilian Wachter Entering his 3rd season with the team, Maximilian Wachter is somebody that young players can look up to and they'll see that hard-work pays off. Wachter has long been considered past the prime-aged years of his career, however, don't tell him that as he continues to be a dominant power forward season after season. Wachter is one of the Panthers leaders on the ice. He recently won the Potoczny Award as the teams leading scorer & the Donini Award as the teams best two-way forward. The Panthers will look for Wachter to once again help lead the team to the post-season. A power-forward such as Wachter certainly helps the Panthers chances. Captain: Matthew Leetch Matthew Leetch will remain the Panthers captain for now and hopefully for many seasons to come. Leetch is entering what I believe at be the best season of his career. He'll see a lot of ice-time and is entering the time in his career when most players are at their peak. Leetch was huge for the Panthers during their run to the Challenge Cup Final last season. Leetch put up 14 points in 16 games and filled the stat sheet in pretty much everyway possible. Leetch runs the teams twitter account and is one of the nicest people you'll come across on the site. The Panthers know that the Captaincy is in great hands as long as Leetch remains with the team.
