Good evening everyone…… I am Pietari Salo Co-GM of the Kelowna Knights. As another season is upon us we come to you tonight to unveil the group of players that will lead the team into S40 and hopefully to another four star championship for this prestigious franchise! Along with the new captains we will also be unveiling last season’s team awards winners. Without further ado let us begin!

We will begin with last season’s team awards:

First up the Jackson Rogers-Tanaka Award: Awarded the the player who displays outstanding dedication to the team.

And the winner is……Richard Physt! <a href='index.php?showuser=2888' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-3'>CptSquall</a>

Physt has been a huge presence both on the site and in the locker room. He showed tremendous dedication to the knights last season.

Next is the Erik Chisling Award: Awarded to the best defenseman.

And the winner is…… Sigurd Hansen! <a href='index.php?showuser=2775' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-3'>killer_doggie</a>

Hansen led the team from the back end last season, with 34 points in 50 games and a +1. He is an irreplaceable part of our team and we are glad to have him back for S40.

Now we have the Elias Armia Award: Awarded to the regular season MVP.

And the winner is…… Jacob Dorty! <a href='index.php?showuser=2897' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-3'>AssPancakes</a>

Dorty was lights out this season posting 39 points in 50 games and a +3 to boot. He will be heavily relied on this year to help lead the knights to a four star.

Now the Jackson Turska Award: Awarded to the player who writes the most media articles during the season.

And the winner is……Brock Becker! <a href='index.php?showuser=2937' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-3'>brockbecker3</a>

Becker tore it up last season with the articles and we hope he can bring that again this coming season.

Here we have the Miikka Granlund Award: Awarded to the player who displays the best leadership

And the winner is……Hunter Jones!

Jones has been a well-established leader in Kelowna for his 3 seasons. His leadership will be missed this season but we wish him the best in his rookie season for the Dragons.

And now the Maxim Horvat Award: Awarded to the top rookie.

And the winner is…Daddy Mack! <a href='index.php?showuser=2289' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-3'>Mack</a>

Mack led the team’s rookies last season with 16 points in 50 games. He showed flashes of that skill that Nour and I saw that made us want him to come to Kelowna, and a 334 TPE he is prepped for a big year.

Here is the Saku Perhonen Award: Awarded to the most exciting player.

And the winner is…… Michael O’Dowd! <a href='index.php?showuser=2967' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-3'>Sour_Chin_Music</a>

O’Dowd is a young player we are really excited about! With 10 points in his rookie season and his TPE earning rate we can’t wait to see what he brings to the table this season.

Now we have the John McBride Award: Awarded to the playoff MVP.

And the winner is Romualds Loks! <a href='index.php?showuser=891' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-3'>rieksts</a>

An acquisition at the trade deadline, Loks came in and did all he can to get this team through the first round. With 5 points in 4 games he led the team in scoring and proved himself as a clutch performer.

And here we have the Riko Muerto Award: Awarded to most under-rated player.

And the winner is…..Lyndis Vakarian! <a href='index.php?showuser=1833' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-3'>Cynthia</a>

Lyndis had 36 points in 50 games and a team leading +6. She was solid at both ends of the ice and we are excited to have her back for a final season!

And finally the Jonathan Lundberg Award: Awarded to the player who most embodies what it means to be a Knight.

And the winner is……Richard Physt! <a href='index.php?showuser=2888' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-3'>CptSquall</a>

Physt is a very important part of this team he is a leader on and off the ice and sets the gold standard of what it means to be a knight.

We will now announce the S40 captains for the Kelowna Knights!

First up wearing the alternate captaincy at home is…. Jacob Dorty! <a href='index.php?showuser=2897' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-3'>AssPancakes</a>
Dorty will have an A again this season and continue to lead the new generation of Knights!

Next wearing the alternate captaincy for away games is……Michael O’Dowd! <a href='index.php?showuser=2967' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-3'>Sour_Chin_Music</a>
O’Dowd has proven himself a leader since day 1 and we are very happy to give him this honor!

Next up wearing the alternate captaincy full time next season……Richard Physt! <a href='index.php?showuser=2888' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-3'>CptSquall</a>
Physt wears the A once again. He has proven himself a very important member of the leadership team and we are proud to have him back!

Finally wearing the captaincy this season……Sigurd Hansen! <a href='index.php?showuser=2775' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-3'>killer_doggie</a>
Hansen is currently the longest serving member of the Knights and has shown he can lead this team all season long. We can’t wait to see where he can lead the team this season.
