(This post was last modified: 11-15-2018, 03:32 AM by Chris-McZehrl.)

I looking each season over the teams and must shake my head because of negative thing about the young players. Especially the newbies who hope to land on a Top-Line very quickly. With that Career Goal we have a problem in my opinion. Why? I show you some important stats about each team.

I will start in the order of the alphabet. So I will add in the next days all other teams and bring up some conclusions. But for now we all know you need one starting Goalie + 6 Defender + 9 Forwards. The rest can be actives but isnt a must. Also bad fort he actives if they must sitting still on the 4th Lines.

S48: 1st BUF, 2nd BUF

Buffalo Stampede Conclusion:
The Stampede has an incredible depth roster. 15 total active member who are updating weekly. With that the team has also some semi-actives with some updates per season. The Team has just 3 inactives what is really incredible. So far the let play 7 defender and 10 forwards who are active or semi-active. They also have 3 active Offense-Prospects and one active Goalie in the pipeline. They also have all their own 1st + 2nd + 3rd Rounder also some 2nd and 3rd rounder of other teams. Let us think about the future ... they have already 22 members who are active in the Discord and the most are still updating the players. With all this picks and normally actives in 1st and 2nd rounds (upcoming Draft Tomen will come back with Alexander Selich - Offense - for the 2nd rounder). Let we say that 3-4 players would retire within the next 4 seasons ... then BUF would have an total actives number of 26 but have just this 9 Forwards + 6 Defender + 1 Goalie as spots open. That will be very hard for newbies also recreates to make the roster.

S44 Benois Minuscule – 252 TPE active and updating (Defense)

Picks
They have all their own 1st and 2nd Picks

Calgary Dragons Conclusion:
What I can say about the Calgary situation? They have just 3 inactives but many hard regression players. In the other hand they have with Cile, Choybuk, Nuck and Pedersen Jr. a lot of young prospects who will help them out if the Grandpas will retire ... like Anrikkanen, Mack and Linna. They have also a young active Goalie in Vilde and this is always a key factor position. The backup Hocolate is old but still great as backup and maybe the best backup in the S44 SHL Season. With all their picks they can handle easily the age and can look forward.

S47: 1st EDM, 2nd EDM + MAN
S48: 1st EDM, 2nd EDM

Edmonton Blizzard Conclusion:
The Edmonton Blizzard is a team what can fight for the Cup in the next 5 seasons so far. They have a lot of players in their prime and they are still young enough for staying over 4 seasons. Alone Scholz (GM who will comeback for no pick in an recreate) is a Grandpa. But they have an future Starter in the pipeline also one Defender and 4 Forwards. I doubt that they all will have a place in the next 5 seasons on this team. Of course Free Agency could change that also retirements and trades. but from now on rookies will have to fight very hard for an roster spot. They have 5 inactives one of them is the backup, two are defender but one is good enough for the 3rd line pairing and then the two forward who play normally not in the line up.

Picks
S45: 1st HAM, 2nd HAM
S46: 1st HAM + WKP, 2nd MIN
S47: 1st HAM, 2nd HAM
S48: 1st HAM, 2nd HAM

Hamilton Steelhawks Conclusion:
The Hamilton Steelhawks will lose Westbrook but having in Tig Murphy the replacement. Langabeer and Abes getting older and older but they have also the replacements in their own team with Andrew Martin and Vaskov. In Defense they are saved with Laroche-Durocher and Gay. They also have five 1st rounder in the next 4 drafts + four 2nd rounder. This should save the activity for the team and also make clear for rookies that could take a long time to be an key-factor for this team.

Picks
S45: 1st LAP
S46: 1st LAP
S47: 1st LAP, 2nd LAP
S48: 1st LAP, 2nd LAP

Los Angeles Panthers Conclusion:
The Los Angeles Panthers have a active team and some must already fight against the regression. They have all the own 1st round picks and from S47 on again 2nd Round Picks. They also have 2 Defense and 3 Offense Prospects where I believe they will takeover the important spots in the far away future (maybe 7-10 seasons). The future is saved and here maybe young talents could get some key factor spots in future. Maybe also interesting for some upcoming Free Agents. All in all the Panthers could easily end up like Buffalo or Hamilton, a place where rookies must wait a long time.

Picks
S45: 1st MAN, 2nd MAN
S46: 1st MAN, 2nd MAN
S47: 1st MAN
S48: 1st MAN, 2nd MAN

Manhattan Rage Conclusion:
The Manhattan Rage is an weak and old team, based on the main roster. But they are totally in a rebuild and you can see that on the activity of the young guns. 6 of the 11 forwards are active + 7 prospects ... they made 13 of 12 spots for the future. On the Defense its a bit better for prospects. On the Main Roster 3 of 7 are active + 3 Defender and that brings it up for the future to ... 6 of 6 needed spots. The Goalie situation is also easy. Right now the Goalies on the Main Roster are inactive but the Rage has also an hot prospect with Crawfling. So that makes the team for the future from now more than full, because of the 13th forward. And they also have their own picks except the S47 2nd rounder. So they still can bring in more prospects. That means made the top lines will be hard for any new prospect.

New England Wolfpack Conclusion:
The New England Wolfpack had a rough offseason and now they try to come together. With Dash and Deriskara they got 2 blueship prospect. Egger and Leiter are also Hot Prospects. Leitner will have a saved Goalie spot and will replace Landvik or Orlov one day. Dash and Deriskara will easily replace Mäkinen and the already retired Dominique. For the future 4 next drafts they have 8 picks. So for now all new rookies could have it not easy for making a spot on the roster very quickly.

San Francisco Pride Conclusion:
It looks like that the GM of the San Francisco Pride did want to clear off the problems in the offense at first with the Goalie Situation. The Pride has in future Partridge and Vrana for the net. They have also incredible 7 active and 3 semi-active Offense Prospects. Two of them already play for the team in King and Muerto. But they still have Reid and Gill that make more actives then existing Offense spots (12). In the Defense they have Jack Tanner as Superstar and with Schieck, Bork and Stevenson Jr. three Defense top prospects. the rest is inactive. So here i can see just 2 spots for the defense. The Pride has two 1st and two 2nd rounder. They better take with them Defender and make sure that they are also there ready for the future. But after that the team is full and it will be hard for any positions as rookie.

Picks

S46: 1st SEA
S47: 1st SEA, 2nd SEA + TEX
S48: 1st SEA, 2nd SEA + TEX

Seattle Riot Conclusion:
The Seattle Riot is in my eyes the most interesting team for prospects. The Goalie position should be saved for Benjamin Blue but the rest the Roster has some inactives and older players. In the Defense the Riot has an 155 TPE inactive so he should be replaced easily. McElroy has over 500 TPE (571 TPE) so here the GM can stay with this inactive for longer. In the Offense they have 5 inactives and just Twain is over 500 TPE (636 TPE). So the Seattle Riot have also som potential prospects in Pivonka (is now inactive :( ), Hudson (didnt update since first week October), Nowes and Toivanen. The last two are one Forward and one Defender. The Riot have also two 1st Round Picks so they should take one Forward and one Defender. Overall they have nine 1st + 2nd Rounder in the next 4 drafts.

S47: 1st TEX
S48: 1st TEX

Texas Renegades Conclusion:
The Texas Renegades have a good and young defense core. 2 of the 7 roster defender are inactive one of them is useable (552 TPE). They also have 2 active Defense Prospects. In the Offense we can see an different picture. Durden, Owen and the best forward Horvat (1210 TPE) are regressing players but for them they have Kazarian, Konstantin and Fantobens. 3 of the 11 roster Forwards are inactive. So they also have an young active goalie with Hobbs. In the end the pick situation, they have for each future season the 1st round pick also the 2nd round pick of Seattle in the upcoming draft. with this two Picks they better should draft Forwards. But then they are totally full in the spots and then each rookie not important which position will having a hard time.

Toronto North Stars Conclusion:
The North Stars have 2 inactive goalies so that is surely the most needed position. They have the own 1st and 2nd Round Pick in the upcoming draft with one of them they can land an active goalie. In Offense they have 4 actives that makes one open saved spot for one of the two Offense Prospects in Boija or Mr. Faceoffs. The one who must wait longer can replace an future retirement. The rest of the picks are easy to tell about. They have all the own 1st and 2nd rounder also the 2nd S46 of EDM. They can with the picks bring back each season 2 actives.

Picks
S45: 2nd TEX
S46: 2nd WKP
S47: 1st WKP, 2nd WKP
S48: 1st WKP, 2nd WKP

West Kendall Platoon Conclusion:
The West Kendall Platoon have just a 2nd for the next two drafts after that they have again the own picks. If an older player will retire soon in the Offense they can bring in Denisovich. They also have a 2nd offense prospect in Aizawa. For the Goalie position they also have an active as prospect and with Biscuit an star goalie who has a lot of seasons in his tank. Problem position is the defense for the next season. They have one inactive and one retiring player. They have one defense prospect but he is inactive. So that should be that target for the Management of the Platoon. Getting a new Defender via Draft or Free Agency.

S44 Jerry Larry – 262 TPE active and updating (Offense)
S44 Ola Wagstrom – 395 TPE active and updating (Offense)

Picks
They have all their own 1st and 2nd Picks

Winnipeg Jets Conclusion:
The Jets have a good Defense and an over 1000 TPE inactive in the roster. the inactive one isnt playing. In the Offense the 9 Forward spots are be taken the 2 inactive arent playing. Arrivabene retired after this season but they have a hard fight for his replacement. Three offense prospects are sitting in the SMJHL but Williams is the most competive player for this spot. for the other two there will be a open spot in the future of one of the S31 forwards will retire (Volkova, Evans, Bearss and/or Visser). So this team looks like very full. They also have all their own picks for the next four drafts.

Now I present you some numbers and calculations! That is the reason why I did that and I know some are tired about the topic but I must open the eyes of you all. Because in my opinion we have a lot of past active members they gone inactive because of no room on SMJHL Teams in result of too many send downs. With that I must say that we also had some members they left the site because the waiting time is way too long to come in a Top Line as Semi-Active or also as full active member. I dont want to bring up the name but one member told me that he did wait for around 6 seasons after being a full member of an SHL Team to make the Top Line. That all can have effect on the activity. We would also have in my opinion more room for the Cap Situation, right now it looks like that its very close season by season.

Total actives: 274
Offense actives: 116
Defense actives: 66
Goalie actives: 12
Prospects (send downs) actives: 79
Rookies (without 155 TPE players and Rush): 39
Rookie Offense (without 155 TPE players): 22
Rookie Defense (without 155 TPE players): 14
Rookie Goalies (without 155 TPE players): 3
useable Inactives (over 500 TPE): 24

What need each Team:
1 Goalie
6 Defender
9 Forwards
= 16 Players

Total actives average: 19,57
Offense actives average: 8,29
Defense actives average: 4,71
Goalies actives average: 0,86
Prospects (send downs) actives average: 5,64
Rookies average: 2,79
useables Inactives (over 500 TPE) average: 1,71

All average: 24,07 Player per Team
Retired Players: 9 – average: 0,64
All without retired players: 23,43 player per team

the numbers with 16 teams:
Total actives average: 17,13
Offense actives average: 7,25
Defense actives average: 4,13
Goalies actives average: 0,75
Prospects (send downs) actives average: 4,94
Rookies average: 2,44
useables Inactives (over 500 TPE) average: 1,5

All average: 21,07 Player per Team
Retired Players: 9 – average: 0,56
All without retired players: 20,51 player per team

We have in Moment around 16 players with an active status or inactive over 500 TPE per team. But we also have an incredible number of 5,64 send downs per team. With 16 Teams (2 Expansion Teams) we would have around 14 players they are active or over 500 TPE. We would still have nearly 5 send downs per team (4,94). With the new situation the SMJHL would be so full and the newbies would get better spots in the two top lines. All in all I believe I was be able to show all in the SHL why I preach for an expansion. With the new rookies … the number goes up to 16 players + 8 send downs per team (if next season all send downs would stay as send downs). This would be with still 14 Teams. With 16 Teams it would be still 14 players + 7 send downs per team. Small remember that we need just 16 active or useable players on the roster and the other 4 player can be 155 TPE inactives. In that case I dont know what I should show the league forward in comparison to this hard work over the last days.

In the End I would love to show you some Expansion rules what should show you that no team will have an disadvantage at all. and this rules are based on the activity now in comparison to the former expansions!
- at first the two expansion teams would get from any team just one player and that makes 2 per team.
- each team can save a total number of 8 Players in their choice. (5 forwards + 2 Defender + 1 Goalie OR 4 Forwards + 4 Defender OR 3 Forwards + 4 Defender + 1 Goalie OR 8 Prospects AND SO ON)
- each Expansion Team can also do a trade with any team for not taking a player for one ore more picks!!!
- the existing Teams also can do those offers to the two Expansion Teams!
- for the Expansion-Draft we will have one winner the rest of the draft will be in the Snake Drafting Style
- the new Expansion Teams can talk to all not saved players to make sure to not picking an player who never wanted to go to an new expansion team.
- the player who should be locked by each existing Team must be decided one week before the Expansion Draft starts
- one week the new Expansion GMs can talk to the not locked (saved) players to make sure who would like to enter the new Expansion Team and who not.
- If the HO see that the existing SHL Teams try to cheat ... like we save the players with unsure thinking about Expansion Draft or stay on the current team and them they wont leave the team for 100% will not be saved ... they will get punishments.
- with the last term you must make sure that no one who want to stay will be available ... that means players they would like to leave or being in the pickable pool must be unsaved
- if all would like to be in that Expansion Players Pool then you can save who you want as GM.
- The GM players are auto-saved so that means if the Team has an GM and Co-GM then they are already count 2 of 8.
- if the Expansion Draft will be before the Free Agency start ... the Expansion Team can talk about extension before they must take an pending Free Agent
- if they come to terms about a deal then they will be locked after picked by an Expansion Team (if both want the pending FA)
- if just one team want this pending FA then this player will be auto-selected to the team
- all pending FAs who would like to go to an Expansion team, also will extend ... the talks must be forwarded to the HO to make sure if both Expansion Team want this pending FA or just one of them.
- if the Expansion Draft will be before the Rookie Draft then the picks for the expansion teams will be between playoff teams and non playoff teams that means 7th and 8th OVA (the winner of the 1st OVA Expanion Draft Pick will have the later Rookie Draft Pick)

This can be a very nice resource for a player, specifically a young player. Interesting read as well. Nice work so far!. +1

Looks awesome.

One thing that could make it even easier to read, is to replace "active" or "semiactive" or "updating" with some kind of colour scheme. And you just highlight the players name in that colour. Easier to skim and see what team has a lot of actives or inactives and where.

But looks great.
