ErMRegistered S45 Challenge Cup Champion 1 - LW - Season 35 Mike Izzy - 2109 TPE
- Calgary Dragons  --> Mike Izzy is the highest TPE player to ever hit free agency, how is that possible you say? Mike Izzy is also one of the highest TPE earners in league history. On top of being a grinder Mike Izzy has many other qualities that are going to make him attractive to literally every team in the league. Mike Izzy’s impact around the league is well known from his role in various positions in the IIHF and the player progression team. From a locker room perspective Izzy is the kind of guy that you can build a new franchise around or revitalize an old one with. Throughout the league Izzy is known for his contagious enthusiasm in every aspect of the league and all of the things he does. There is some extra value to a player that cares not only about his personal accolades and success but also his teammates and even opponents on the ice. Mike Izzy has had an illustrious career thus far after a long stint in Calgary following a trade from Edmonton. As the seasons have stacked up it has become clear that at least some of that success can be attributed to Mike Izzy. This is the guy you want on your team. Mike Izzy is a franchise changing player. 2 - C - Season 31 Jason Visser - 1921 TPE - Winnipeg Jets  --> We just spoke about the superior grinding of Mike Izzy and his impressive TPE numbers in the moment, but Jason Visser is the former TPE champ and the fact that he is so high on this list shows he still has it. Not only has Visser once been the highest TPE player in the league, he is the highest earning TPE player in league history. Despite regression he is still pushing 2000 TPE and is going to be a force for many seasons to come. Visser has held down the Winnipeg Jets center position for years and with him there they have found success. Any team would be happy to have him. 3 - RW - Season 31 Joe Kurczewski - 1915 TPE - Calgary Dragons --> Another top TPE earner (recently passed by fellow Dragon Mike Izzy) Joe K is another franchise changing type player and the second from Calgary on the list. Joe K has tested the market for many years now and nobody has ever been able to lure him way from Calgary. There must be something in the water over there. 4 - RW - Season 35 Sophia Bennett - 1870 TPE - Los Angeles Panthers  --> Sophia Bennett is another forward on the list that is still in her prime. She is one of the top players on the Panthers and would slot in on any first line in the league. 5 - C - Season 36 Tigole Bitties - 1830 TPE - New England Wolfpack  --> Tigole Bitties is the youngest player on the list and is still approaching the prime of his career. He was once considered the future center piece of the Edmonton Blizzard but was moved in a blockbuster deal to the floundering New England Wolfpack. The Pack surely hopes to build something around Tigole Bitties that is able to put them back into the conversation of competitors. I do not think we have a shot of seeing him go anywhere else in free agency. 6 - D - Season 33 Zander Rhys - 1797 TPE - Toronto North Stars  --> Finally some defense! Zander is the first defender on the list and another top tier player. A few seasons ago Zander hit the open market and Toronto was able to win him over and lock down his services for a couple seasons. There was thought that adding him to the defense would be enough to put them over the edge, but over the past few seasons they have not been able to utilize his abilities to get them a championship despite regular season success. 7 - RW - Season 36 Roman Augustus - 1664 TPE - Calgary Dragons --> Roman Augustus is another Calgary player that makes the cut and he would be the second defensive player in the top 10, but after a recent change to right wing it is all forwards on the market this season. Augustus is another player that has not yet reached his prime but is still grinding away. In many years he would be one of the top free agents but with so many talented forwards available he slid down to 7th. Augustus has been a great player for Calgary over the course of his career, but has never been able to emerge as the franchise guy due to how many talented players surround him, however, if he sticks it out he will get there soon enough. 8 - LW - Season 32 Luke Atmey - 1600 TPE - Buffalo Stampede  --> Luke Atmey is one of the Buffalo Stampedes most talented forwards. Buffalo has been a roller coaster of a team that we never can quite guess where they will end up. However, Atmey is a key piece of they want to break the slump they had this season and get back into the conversations of teams on the rise with bright futures. Other teams would be happy to shatter those dreams and steal him away. 9 - RW - Season 31 Zach Evans - 1513 TPE - Winnipeg Jets --> Zach Evans is another top tier locker room guy that has been a part of Winnipeg's success over the years. While his best years may be behind him Zach Evans has a lot of experience in the regular season and the playoffs but still has a lot of good hockey left to play in front of him. This is the kind of guy you love to bring onto the team. 10 - LW - Season 31 Pietra Volkova - 1490 TPE - Winnipeg Jets --> Volkova is the third Jets players on the list, tying them with Calgary for the most players in the top ten. It should be no surprise that two of the teams with the most modern success have the best players and best free agents. Volkova's best days are also behind her, but she is no slouch today and has plenty of highlights in her future.
