Did you miss the draft but don't want to scroll through dozens of posts to find the info you're looking for? You've come to the right (?) place. This is an attempt to look at each team's draft in a shortened form. Whether this works or not is up to you but I'm trying anyways.
Without further ado:
Buffalo Stampede
4th Overall - Monkey D. Luffy,
18th Overall - Kalevi Karhunen,
19th Overall - Bobby Sharp,
28th Overall - Kristoffer Svensson,
34th Overall - Raino Kyllonen,
35th Overall - Johnny Sins,
51st Overall - Eric Vanderberg,
62nd Overall - Yuri Ushakov,
Buffalo's draft was busy but effective. Getting Monkey D. Luffy (my bestie) at 4th should help bolster the offense once he's called up. Add in Kalevi Karhunen and Bobby Sharp and their early draft was a huge success. They also drafted Raino Kyllonen later on, who was a great mid-round pick. Overall, an incredibly solid draft for Buffalo.
Calgary Dragons
16th Overall - Brendan Kennedy Jr.,
22nd Overall - Barry Batsbak,
23rd Overall - Chico Smeb,
39th Overall - Bernik Vrzala,
60th Overall - Oliver Klozoff,
69th Overall - Olin O'Dowd,
The Dragons needed to address Defense this draft, and they did that well: they drafted Brendan Kennedy Jr. and Bernik Vrzala. Both should help out the bottom end of the defensive holes (Kennedy will start the season in Calgary). Otherwise, their draft was pretty standard.
Chicago Syndicate
21st Overall - Kit Smeb,
26th Overall - Eva Lykke Aparjode,
30th Overall - Daniel Smeb,
36th Overall - Parker Smeb,
44th Overall - Tibuk Soonika,
59th Overall - Liam Hutchinson,
67th Overall - Dylan Karlsson,
68th Overall - Jules Watt,
76th - Big Fudge,
78th - Jaco Petermen,
79th Overall - Backdoor Barnacle,
85th Overall - Steve Craig Smeb,
100th Overall - Billy Sorokin,
Chicago's gameplan was simple: get as many prospects as possible. They then proceded to take the best available pick on the board as they saw fit. The two big names to come out of their draft were Kit Smeb and Eva Lykke Aparjode, who will no doubt be two pieces going forward. For now, at least, Chicago is going with the slow-cook method: most of their roster is young, and will probably not be in contention for a while. Despite the waiting game, an overall solid job by Chicago on drafting.
Edmonton Blizzard
50th Overall - Taisei-Tiikeri Wawazat,
54th Overall - James Truong,
64th Overall - Cant Eykhll,
80th Overall - Hans Zucker,
96th Overall - Touncy Bitties,
112th Overall - Karlstaβe Scholz,
Karlstaβe Sholz was pretty much the only highlight from the Bizzard's draft, other than taking a player that scored 0 goals and 0 assists at 54th overall... with plenty of other options. Anyway, Scholz should be a great addition to Edmonton no matter where he plays in the lineup when he comes up.
Hamilton Steelhawks
1st Overall - Nikolai Evans,
2nd Overall - Anastasia O'Koivu,
9th Overall - Kalvins Zvejnieks,
38th Overall - Brock Emmerton,
41st Overall - Fork Spoon,
61st Overall - Aleksi O'Koivu-Volkova,
70th Overall - Jakub Hasek,
86th Overall - Gabster TheMagnificent,
Hamilton got to work this draft, as they managed to obtain 3 first rounders, all within the top 10. How well did they do? Fairly well. Even though they did pass up on Cannellini, they got great prospects in Nikolai Evans, Anastasia O'Koivu, and Kalvins Zvejnieks, who are projected to be incredibly valuable to te Steelhawks going forward. Afterward, it was business as usual, taking two goalies in the later rounds.
Los Angeles Panthers
10th Overall - Borromini Cannellini,
42nd Overall - Eddy Ask Jr.,
57th Overall - Egor Kucherov,
74th Overall - Max Rockatansky,
LA got a steal at 10 with Cannellini, who unexpectedly dropped 4 positions from where he was projected to go preceding the draft. Cannellini should provide LA with another forward to their ever-growing arsenal. Add in Egor Kucherov (who I might add was also a steal) and Eddy Ask Jr., and you have a trio that should make some noise.
Manhattan Rage
8th Overall - Andrej Doskocil,
32nd Overall - Peter Larson,
56th Overall - David Vent,
72nd Overall - Zach Laliberte,
The main piece to look at here is Peter Larson. He was a solid goaltender for Anchorage and is one of the better goalie prospects of the draft. Otherwise, nothing to write home about.
Minnesota Chiefs
5th Overall - Mathias Seger,
13th Overall - Jerry "The Snake" Mander,
29th Overall - Collin Gibbles,
45th Overall - Casmir Stevens,
Like Manhattan, the main focus here was the goalie, Casmir Stevens. Stevens was very much considered one of, if not, the best goalie prospect coming into the draft. Unlike Manhattan, however, their return on the other picks were worthwhile, with Jerry Mander being their best pick in terms of forward production.
New England Wolfpack
7th Overall - Perry Morgan,
12th Overall - Gordie Boomhover,
15th Overall - Guy Zheng,
37th Overall - Dick Clapper,
New England, while having only a handful of picks, made use of each pick. All three first-round picks were solid selections, as well as Dick Clapper at 37. Overall, nothing to complain about here.
New Orleans Specters
6th Overall - Jimmy Slothface,
20th Overall - Michael Fox,
47th Overall - Mike Hunt,
48th Overall - Osbert Whacker,
52nd Overall - Basil Magnicotta,
Unlike their expansion brethren, New Orleans opted for a "compete now" mentality, as shown by their Free Agent signings. That doesn't mean that their draft was uneventful, however: All 5 picks were incredibly solid, with all of them having similar production last season. It seems New Orleans is trying and succeeding to build the best team possible before the beginning of the season.
San Francisco Pride
17th Overall - Knute Knurtsson,
33rd Overall - Nathan Explosion,
49th Overall - Patrice Nadeau,
65th Overall - Yoshimitsu McCloud,
77th Overall - Lee Marshall,
81st Overall - Ricardo Cotalay,
San Francisco focus on this draft seemed to overtake all, as they took two goalies and 4 unimpressive forwards. For now, the Pride have an up-and-coming goalie tandem to take care of, as well as training their other picks to get them to playoff caliber.
Tampa Bay Barracuda
3rd Overall - Oliver Cloutier,
14th Overall - Matt Kholin,
24th Overall - Jøln DuBølk,
66th Overall - Lunga Gumba,
Tampa had few picks this draft but did justice with the ones they had: great forward prospects in Cloutier and Kholin, a solid defenseman in DuBølk, and living meme Lunga Gumba. Their main focus is on the next draft, where they have 3 first round picks to work with. For now, this draft was a success.
Texas Renegades
46th Overall - Tyler Tougard,
As you can see, the Renegades had a very busy draft.
Jokes aside, the Renegades got a steal at 46 with Tougard. Being a championship caliber team, they didn't need a whole lot to fill on the roster, but Tougard will be a solid option to put on the roster eventually.
Toronto North Stars
25th Overall - Troy Reynolds,
40th Overall - Mike McKorsy,
43rd Overall - Valeri Tikhonov,
58th Overall - Donny McMasters,
Toronto definitely made heads turn at the draft by taking Troy Reynolds, a player with an undeniably brash personality. While their 2nd and 3rd picks were par for the course, Toronto made a good move to get Donny McMasters at 58th, a major steal considering his SMJHL season stats.
West Kendall Platoon
31st Overall - Gaspard Boone,
55th Overall - Petr Mikulak,
63rd Overall - Aleksander Scherbak,
95th - Ethan Ross,
Overall, nothing impressive from West Kendall. More than likely some bottom 6/bottom pairing guys to fill the roster.
Winnipeg Jets
11th Overall - Nick Brain,
27th Overall - Michael Scarn,
53rd Overall - Commander Shepard,
75th Overall - Dickens Makeout King,
Nothing to really get excited about here. The Jets shockingly took Nick Brain 11th, when he wasn't projected to go near that pick. While Makeout-King was a great pick at 75, there wasn't too much for Jets fans to get excited about.
...and there we have it: every team's draft in a shortened form. This was my first attempt at something like this, and I hope I can get better in the future and continue to do something like this.
