S49 Top Defender Profiles (829 Words, 2X Draft Media, Research, etc)

A little late again this draft, but here are the top 3 defenders by TPE this year. Work was busy today couldn’t get this out in time but I hope you enjoy the quick read. A fairly deep draft for defenseman with some unique builds in the mix.

Defense:

1. Noah Brusky - Scarecrows - 285 TPE

Leading this year's pack of defensemen is Noah Brusky. A right handed shot from the USA, Brusky played for the St Louis Scarecrows on the 3rd pairing. Brusky averaged close to 17 minutes a game with minimal special teams. Brusky had a great season with 19 points and 4 goals which places him 9th on the rookie scoring list. Brusky prides himself more with his defensive game and it showed with 51 blocked shots in the season. Brusky isn’t afraid to be physical or take a hit to make a play with 48 hits, and 55 hits taken which led the Scarecrow defensemen. Like many rookies Brusky’s only downside is his poor +/- of -11. During the Scarecrows disappointing playoff, Brusky played great, with 3 assists in their 5 game series loss to the surprise Raiders. Brusky averaged the same ice time but Brusky went positive in the playoffs and led the Scarecrows in hits with 10 while also blocking 4 shots.
Brusky is a 6 foot 1, 192 pound defensive defenseman with strengths in Defense, (oh fuck ya) CHECKING, and passing. Leading the way with a unique weakness, Brusky is weak at scoring. @BrewskyBoy is a new user from June coming over from r/EA_NHL but has been very active with more posts than me LOL and lots of media already. It’s nice to see a first gen player be at the top and very well could be taken top 3.

2. Derek Bohne Jr. - Raptors - 277 TPE

Following Brusky is another USA defenseman in Derek Bohne Jr. A left handed shot Bohne Jr. played for the Colorado Raptors and had 2nd defensive pairing responsibility. Bohne Jr. played on the first penalty kill as well and in the end average almost 18.5 minutes a game. Bohne Jr. had a decent season with 12 points and 2 goals. Another tough defenseman Bohne Jr. had 82 hits over the season which led the Raptors and 50 PIM. Bohne Jr. hits hard and often. Similar to Brusky, Bohne Jr. plays for his team with 52 blocked shots which was 2nd on the Raptors. During the Raptors one playoff series Bohne Jr. did not register a point but that shouldn’t discredit his contributions; going +1 with 6 hits and 4 blocked shots under the same ice time.
Bohne Jr. is a 6 foot 4, 225 pound two-way defender with strengths in; Passing, Defense, and CHECKING (WOW). In fact Bohne Jr.’s build strength/weakness build is the same as Brusky’s as Bohn Jr. is weak at scoring too. @wumaduce is a user from back in 2017. Wumadances last player was Wuma Duce a LW back in S38 then made a short lived center in S44. But as they say third time's the charm. I can see Bohne Jr. falling because of that but if wuma commits; Bohne Jr will be a great player for any team.

3. Delver Fudgeson - Lions - 266 TPE

Rounding out my short defensemen list, and with one of the funnier names is Delver Fudgeson. Fudgeson a canadian represented the Lethbridge Lions and played top pairing with 22 minutes a game which included regular special teams. Fudgeson had an outstanding season for a defenseman with 26 points and 8 goals! This places Fudgeson 5th on the rookie scoring list. I have a soft spot for defenseman so I wouldn't be surprised if Fudgeson is nominated for the rookie of the year. Further to his great season Fudgeson blocked 62 shots over the season good for 2nd on the Lions and 8th league wide. In fact Fudgeson was the 5th leading scorer on the Lions and led all Lion defensemen. One of the few defenseman who like to shoot with 62 shots and with a shooting percentage of almost 13. Fudgeson is not as physical as the Bohn Jr or Brusky. During the Lions playoff run, Fudgeson kept up his regular season pace with 5 points and 3 goals in the 12 playoff games the Lions played. Fudgeson played almost 23 minutes a game and kept going with 14 blocked shots as well. Definition of reliable defenseman.
Fudgeson is a 6 foot 3, 200 pound two-way defender with strengths in; Scoring, Defense, and Puck Handling. Back to the SHL meta Fudgeson is weak at checking. @Massive Coiler is a veteren user from 2014. Massic Coiler first player was the left winger Tony Flow back in S25 who reached close to 800 TPE. Massive Coiler then made Tony Snow who was short lived. Another third times the charm story here but we all know life can be more important than the SHL.
