No shit. It was decided years ago that recruitment drive starts during the 2nd round of the playoffs. But it's also an issue that the league doesn't even think about starting the draft scheduling until after the Cup Finals.

GMs know the draft is coming up. They can make arrangements. The GMs should not be setting the date. The league should and the GM should make sure their team is represented at the draft.
