Through 20 games, Makela has 3 goals. He's on track for ~8 goals as long as his shot attempts don't fall off a cliff. The young defenseman has spent this season working on his offensive game but it's expected that his shooting ability will take some time to improve. He seems to be spending most of his time focusing on his defensive abilities and positioning.

Assists: 19

Makela has 7 assists thus far, putting him on pace for 17-18 helpers. Makela is likely to trend upwards in scoring as he and his teammates develop. Additional scoring help acquired before the trade deadline could also contribute to a spike in assists for the young Finn.

Hits: 55

With 20 hits in 20 games, Tatu Makela is a hit-per-game guy. He's not a hugely physical player, but he's learning to throw his weight around as his game matures and he gains strength. Down the stretch we'll see a more mature, experienced Makela pushing hard for the playoffs.

Shots Blocked: 84

Makela has been an absolute force in regards to shot suppression this season with 29 blocked shots in 20 games, the best mark in the league. He's become an elite player in his own zone and seemingly the sky is the limit for his defensive prowess. The Falcons already don't allow many shots to get through to their goaltender, but being the most penalized team in the league means the Falcons are going to be spending a lot of time on the penalty kill. If the Falcons are to continue this trend, Makela is going to rack up tons of blocked shots in the process.
