![]() St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is a hospital and research facility that is fully dedicated to treating cancer in children. This amazing institution does not charge a cent to the families of those with someone suffering from childhood cancer, whether it’s for their lodging, transportation, or any other unforeseen needs. The hospital costs 2.4 million dollars to run daily, and most of the funding is contributed from donations. Conor McGregor has tremendous appreciation for the amazing work and research conducted here, and has therefore lobbied the SMJHL to run an exhibition game between SMJHL send-downs and rookies, in hopes of raising funds for the hospital. Without further delay, I present you with the starting lineups for each of the aforementioned teams, respectively. The teams will be divided into the colors of red and gray, which are the two primary colors that St. Jude uses for their logo and hospital. Team Rookies – (Red) Center – Conor McGregor: Dammit, this cause means a great deal to me, and I want to be able to represent that on the ice. Thought I am placing myself in the actual game, I am still having one of the better rookie seasons among centers, especially given the fact that the Raiders are a rebuilding team. Moreover, I feel as if my play is starting to catch on fire a bit with every update being added into my player. I’m going to go out there and have the time of my life trying to win and raise a great deal of money for such an awesome and important cause. Winger - Iam Essellemm iamslm22: There is no way I am going to leave off my Raiders and Irish teammate from the game. He’s become one of my closer teammates through the duration of the season, and he is also building a really good player long-term, in my respective opinion. In fact, Essellemm is tied for the rookie lead in scoring, with twenty three points earned on the season thus far. Essellemm and I have really be killing it on the ice recently as line mates, and I see no reason to not translate such success into this game. Winger - Manuel Gotze Mavfatha: For the other wing slot, I’m going to select Gotze, who has had a really good season for the Mammoths thus far, irrespective of being surrounded by a multitude of talented players. Gotze is third in the rookie scoring lead with twenty-two points, and ironically has an even split of eleven goals and assists registered on his behalf. I earnestly believe having more of a sniper in Essellemm on one wing and more of an overall offensive player on the other wing, would allow us to form a pretty potent line for the rookies. Defense – Ensio Kalju jRuutu: Kalju is my body and a really solid member of the Raiders locker-room, so there is no way I am going to leave him behind and not have him on this team. As a defenseman, Kalju is having a really solid offensive season, as he has registered thirteen points on the season thus far. He’s also second on the Raiders in hits with fifty-three, and he has blocked a solid amount of shots as well. Kalju will provide a good combination of offensive and defensive play, making him a great addition to the team. Defense – Viktor Valentine Unicorn: Valentine is having a fantastic season from a statistics standpoint for the Militia, from both an offensive and defensive standpoint. On offense, Valentine is fourth in the league in rookie scoring, registering nineteen points on the season so far. Defensively, however, Valentine has arguably been even better on the ice, as he leads the entire SMJHL in shots blocked, being credited with fifty-seven blocked shots on the season. It’s impossible to ignore Valentine’s impressive play this season and to omit him on this team, so I believe it’s only fair that he teams up with Kalju, to establish our defensive pairing. Goalie – Grim Wastlund Wasty: Wastlund hasn’t gotten a great deal of ice-time on the season, but he is unquestionably the most notorious goaltender among the SMJHL rookies, and has a bright future as a SHL goalie. In the eight games that he has managed to earn a start in, Wastlund has a 3.13 GAA, which isn’t terrible given he is quite early in his development. This is more so a selection representing the future, as I have no doubts that Wastlund will be a top goaltender for the Los Angeles Panthers, when time comes to take the reins for their full-time goalie position. Team Send Downs – (Gray) Center – Paddy Kane-Rielly GreyGooseVodka: There were many good selections to be made for the center on this team, but I ultimately selected my fellow Irish teammate, who has been absolutely killing it for the Firebirds this season. Rielly is tied for the most points in the entire league, registering an incredibly impressive fifty points thus far in the SMJHL regular season. Of those fifty points, nineteen are goal, showing that he possesses both great goal scoring and playmaking abilities on the ice. Kane-Rielly is an excellent player to help lead this line, and is a great addition overall to this charity game. Winger – Kyler Gill ThisSeemsFishy: I would be remiss to not select the other point leader in the league and teammate of Kane-Rielly, who is completely tearing the SMJHL a new asshole. Gill is more of a goal scorer compared to Kane-Rielly, as he has registered a league leading twenty-three goals on the season thus far, which is almost half of his fifty points earned in the season as a whole. This seems like almost too perfect of a selection to make, but I’m going to opt for it regardless, as it’s about putting on a show for those helping us to raise money to kick cancer’s ass. Winger – Logan Jensen Loganjj21: I want to try and get some more SMJHL teams represented in the game, and Jensen has had a marvelous season for the Scarecrows thus far. Jensen is currently third in the SMJHL in scoring, as he has earned forty-nine points on the season thus far. In fact, he has the exact same stat line as Kane-Rielly, minus a goal, which shows that he is a very balanced offensive winger, as opposed to Gill, who is more so a great sniper. I believe this combination on the wing will only aid Kane-Rielly’s endeavors to lead the line, and create one offensively potent force for this team. Defense – The Dude Dude: I’m going to abide by The Dude, and put him on the team, due to his offensive and defensive play this season. Offensively, Dude is third in the entire league among defensemen in scoring, with thirty-five points registered upon his behalf. Defensively, The Dude has been quite impressive as well, being tied for third in the league in blocked shots, with fifty-four. The Dude is also just a mellow and awesome person to be around, so combining all of these factors, I’m adding him to the team. Defense – Bob Bergen Nobody: I wasn’t to get even more representation on here among the SMJHL team, and Bergen provides an excellent choice of offense and defensive skills, not to mention that I know him to be an awesome member of the league. Offensively, Bergen is tied for ninth in the league in points among defensemen, earning twenty-six points on the season thus far. Defensively, Bergen has been just as impressive, as he is currently ranked sixth in the league in shots blocked with fifty-two. For all of these reasons, Bergen is certainly not a nobody ![]() Goalie – Cedric Moreau treant: Moreau has been one of the most impressive goaltenders in the entire league this season for the Militia. Not only is he first in the entire league in save percentage, at 0.898%, but he is also fourth in the league in GAA, with a 2.64 average. There were several good selections to be made, but Moreau just seemed like a really safe and good selection role with. In the end, the SMJHL was able to raise over three million dollars for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, which is worth more than an entire day’s worth of fully running the entire hospital and research center. I want to personally thank all of those who played, volunteered, donated, or simply promoted the event in general. #FuckCancer Code: Word count: 1401 ![]() Registered Mango

Welcome ladies and gentlemen to the first inaugural Rookie vs. Senddowns SMJHL Challenge, brought to you by the good people of America's tobacco industry. Remember, nothing says I love you to a child more than sharing a smoke with them. Show a child how much you care today. Buy them their first pack of cigarettes.
Center - Logan Jensen, As he is so obviously league MVP and the best current player in the SMJHL, he could hardly be left off of this squad Left Wing - DeMaricus Smyth, He's a Scarecrow and that is pretty much good enough for me Right Wing - Gabriel Wong, Even though he is a member of the hated Vancouver Whalers he seems like a good person and I did admire his previous goalie Defense - Brady Mcintyre, As the highest scoring defenseman on the best SMJHL squad he was always going to be on this team Defense - The Dude, No one abides like this guy. Put a White Russian in his hand, sit back and let the good times roll Goalie - Friedrich Schmidt, The best goalie on the best team and a hell of a good guy to boot. Center- Florence Clijsters, What can I say about this girl? Nothing can properly encapsulate her awesomeness or the warm feeling I get when I think of her Left Wing - Jack Daniels, What's a party without Jack Daniels? A boring occasion, that's what. Right Wing - Ashley J. Caboose, Mostly just because I really love the name Defense - Otis B. Driftwood, This hulking defenseman will be there to crush people's bodies and their dreams and most importantly to make sure no one hurts his girl Florence. Defense - Papa Huligans, This is an awesome name and deserves inclusion regardless of what his player is actually like Goalie - Grim Wastlund, Yet another awesome name. This guy also has an outstanding pedigree and I am sure he will rise up the ranks of the league's goalies to the highest echelon ![]() ![]() ![]() Registered S8, S9, S27, S29, S32, S42 Challenge Cup Champion
Rookie:
C- Florence Clijsters- A natural center that has played wing this season for Colorado. He has been incredible in faceoffs, winning over 64%. He has also been efficient, putting up 13 points as a two-way player. W- Iam Essellemm- One of the few bright spots for Halifax this season. Iam has found his scoring touch, putting in 13 goals and adding 11 assists for 24 points. The rookie's 5 goals and 8 points on the powerplay lead the team as well. W- Daddy Mack- He's not just here for his name, but rather his stellar play for the Knights. He has provided great depth scoring with his 9 goals and 16 points and has been a mainstay on a solid Knights powerplay, mustering up 7 total points while creating room for the veteran scorers. D- Viktor Valentine- This rookie d-man has played like a seasoned pro. The smooth skating defenseman is second in points on the Militia with 20 (5 goals), and is only five back of the rookie lead. Impressively, Viktor is tied for first in the league with 64 shot blocks, showing that he can get it done on both sides of the ice. D- Eri Arai- The Whalers rookie d-man has found a comfortable place on the powerplay, scoring 4 goals and adding 8 assists. However, Eri has also used his great vision to create offense 5-on-5, putting up 5 goals and 7 assists even strength for a total of 9 goals and 24 points. G- Grim Wastlund- The Colorado backup has played the most out of the rookies, appearing in 12 games. He has a very solid 6-2 record and his .896 save percentage puts him among the best in the league. He has also posted a shutout, which is a very challenging task for a first year netminder in the SMJHL. Send down: C- Paddy Kane-Rielly- Arguably the MVP of the league, the Firebird center is leading the league with 24 goals and 57 points. He has been reliable on the draw, winning 52% of them, and has come through in the clutch with 4 GWG. W- Geoff Higgins- The Raiders best skater this year. He has scored a team-leading 14 goals and 25 points, on a Raiders team that has struggled to score all year. Additionally, Geoff has been a wrecking ball with a league-leading 138 hits, helping the team get the puck, as well as dislodge it from the opposition. W- Logan Jensen- The Scarecrow winger is enjoying an offensive season, as he is third in the league with 55 points, and has also reached the 20 goal plateau. He is one of the most heavily guarded players in the league, but he still manages to find ways to get it done, and his 35 assists as a winger is beautiful proof of that. D- Karsten Kadinger- The Mammoth defender has easily been one of the most exciting players to watch this season. His 22 goals are third best in the league, and his 38 points are a team-best. He has 4 GWG and 2 GTG, and runs both of the special teams for Colorado; an all-around star. D- Danny Mete- Vancouver's d-man is a bit more typical, but he has been terrific as well. He has 10 goals and 33 points, with over half of them coming from the powerplay. He is also an effective penalty killer. Danny is also not scared to throw his body around, executing 124 solid hits. G- Sebastien Primeau- The Falcons have relied on Primeau's steady goaltending this season, and he has delivered. His .891 save percentage is 4th in the league, and his 2.47 GAA is second in the league. He has also posted a respectable 3 shutouts on a team that is seen as a darkhorse to win the Cup. The Falcons will only go as far as Primeau allows them too, but that seems to be a good thing so far. ![]() Registered Member
