Moving right along to the Joe McKeil Award for the best coach. Our nominees are:

Texas Renegades Renegades - The Renes rebounded from a disappointing S55 to surprise many and take second place in the Western Conference. Texas surprised many by usurping New Orleans as the best of the SouthWest, and turned in a stellar improvement and S56.

Calgary Dragons Dragons - Calgary is in a similar situation to Texas, where they had a huge improvement in S56. Most of Calgary’s players turned in career years – including starting netminder Kata Vilde. Calgary allowed a league best 85 goals against, leading to them winning the Western Conference by an impressive 12 point margin.

Hamilton Steelhawks Steelhawks - As mentioned in their nomination for the Lance Uppercut award, Hamilton ran the table on the league this season. They were the only team to reach 40 wins, and finished with the best GF-GA differential in the entire league.

Without further ado… the winner is….

Thanks Wasty, Carpy, JSS, TurdFerguson, Geekusoid and Awesomecakes for the sigs!

Now on to the individual awards! First, we have the Anton Razov Award for the Playoff MVP! Nominees are:

Theo Morgan Steelhawks - The best player in S56 is looking to add another trophy to his case. Morgan was the top scorer in the playoffs for the Champion Hamilton Steelhawks. Morgan was tied as the top goalscorer in the ploofs, with 14 goals. Morgan scored 23 points in only 18 games.

Monkey D. Luffy Stampede - Luffy turned in a brilliant post season, leading all players in points in the post season. Luffy scored 30 points on an insane 23 assists in his 23 games. He was clearly the MVP of Buffalo – who fell to Hamilton in the Challenge Cup finals.

Dick Clapper Steelhawks - Clapper was the other top scorer for Hamilton, turning in 21 points in his 18 games. Clapper had a more even output, with 10 goals and 11 assists.

Moving on to the Aidan Richan Award – for the player who Most Improved on the season.

I would like to note this was an extremely tough award for the committee to decide, as we had 7 players receive nominations, and 4 went to a runoff to decide the final 3 finalists! Your finalists are:

Barrett Blackwood Blizzard - Blackwood had a 30 point improvement over last season, powering the blizzard to a 2nd place finish in the North West division. Blackwood picked up the slack from where Bo Kane and Theo Morgan left the Blizzard in the offseason.

Josef Kubinec Renegades - The first of two renegades on this list, Kubinec turned in a breakout season, and was one of the main drivers for Texas taking the step forward to 2nd in the conference. Kubinec scored 62 points – good for 7th in the league – a 27 point improvement from the season prior.

Alexander Wachter Renegades - Kubinec’s teammate, Wachter had a 23 point improvement in S56, going from 31 points to 54 in a breakout season. Wachter boosted his playing time and his importance to Texas, and was a huge part of their improvement.

Thanks Wasty, Carpy, JSS, TurdFerguson, Geekusoid and Awesomecakes for the sigs!

On to the Ryan Jesster Award for Rookie of the Year! This was a tightly contested race, with many rookies standing out this season. Our nominees are:

Ryuuji Minamino syndicate - The former star of the Newfoundland Beserkers, Minamino excelled with the Syndicate in his first season in the league. Minamino had 34 points – one off the rookie league, and that included 24 assists. He played about 18 mins a game, and registered these numbers with 0 mins on the Power Play.

Steve Harrington Stampede - Steve Harrington debuted for the Stampede as the first ever 1000 TPE rookie in the SHL. He excelled playing next to Monkey D. Luffy, and racked up 35 points – tied for the lead among rookies.

Edward Williams Renegades - Williams was another reason the Renegades excelled in S56. Leading an all-rookie line with Eric Hudson and Burlock Sulfergold, Williams tied Harrington for most points by a rookie, with 35. He also added 16 goals – most among rookie of the year finalists.

The winner is….

Now for the Jeff Dar award for the best Two Way forward in the league. This is notoriously one of the hardest awards to determine for the committee, and it was a tight race, with the winner besting the runner up by only 2 points! Our nominees are:

Nick Brain Jets - Brain led the Jets to third in their division, scoring 56 points – good for top 20 in the league. Brain also had an impressive 118 hits and 16 takeaways, all while playing 2:27 on the Power Play and almost 2 minutes per game shorthanded.

Andreas Kvalheim Renegades - In the FHM era, Kvalheim has won the award the last two seasons, and is certainly one of the best ever two way forwards. S56 was no exception, as Kvalheim posted 53 points to go along with 121 hits, 68 shot blocks, 2:30 of PK time, and an insane 40-23 TK-GA differential.

Esa Parmborg Dragons - The top scorer on this list, Parmborg had 61 points. He did not collect as many hits or SB as the other two nominees, with 62 and 48 respectivley. Parmborg did have a pristine 31-21 TK-GA differential, and 2:15 of PK time.

Thanks Wasty, Carpy, JSS, TurdFerguson, Geekusoid and Awesomecakes for the sigs!

Moving on to the Bojo Biscuit Award for the best Defensive Defensemen in the league! Our nominees are:

Alexander Selich Stampede - Selich had an impressive season in S56, with 54 hits, 53 SB, and a 36-25 GA-TK differential! Selich also played 1:14 of PK time, meaning he did a lot of heavy lifting for the Stampede on the back end.

Tig Murphy Argonauts - Murphy was the leader of the Argonauts in their inaugural season in the SHL. He had a +9 rating on a team that was not strong defensively. He played 2 mins per game of PK time, had 122 hits, 96 SB, and an INCREDIBLE 34-8 TK-GA ratio. A well deserved nomination.

FR Finn-Rhys Blizzard - Finn-Rhys was the defensive cog on the backend for the Blizzard. He had 108 hits, 98 SB, and a 30-27 TK-GA ratio. Certainly a quality candidate for the defensive defensemen of the year!!!

Thanks Wasty, Carpy, JSS, TurdFerguson, Geekusoid and Awesomecakes for the sigs!
