PT 4 - Setting Goals

Predictions for the S37 Season:

Hits: 90

With 20 games in the books, Bodnar has a respectable 38 hits to his name. However for the first 5 games of the season, he only had 3 hits. With Bodnar getting used to the play in the SMJHL, it is not unreasonable that he will reach the 90 hit plateau.

Goals: 1
Shots: 20

Bodnar is not one to brag about his scoring ability. With 0 goals in 20 games some might assume that he is just too scared to shoot the puck with only 5 shots. However, the thought of not scoring a single goal in an entire season may sway the young rookie to take more chances and to finally put on in the back of the net.

Shots Blocked: 50

As of right now Bodnar has 14 shots blocked. However he would like to see rise to 50 before the season ends, as a block per game would really show how much he has improved.

Assists:
Current: 12
End of Season: 30

I should be more than capable of getting 30 assists in my rookie season for the Kelowna Knights. I have recently been promoted to the first defensive pair with Christian Petersen, who excels at scoring. I am excellent at passing the puck so I see many assists in my future with him as my pair mate.

Shot Blocks:
Current: 25
End of Season: 63

Another category I excel at is my defensive positioning. Defense is one of my strongest areas and I feel with more practice in the defensive zone, I will get a lot of chances to block shots.

Average Minutes Per Game:
Current: 21.32
End of Season: ~30

Due to a trade, I was promoted to the first defensive pair which comes with playing 60% of most games so I see a lot of ice time the rest of the season for me.

Goals:
Current: 1
End of Season: 3

Scoring goals is definitely not one of my areas of expertise so I doubt I score many goals. I am more of a playmaker and set my teammates up for scoring chances leading to me being weak at scoring goals, but I more than make up for it in the number of assists I get.

Your Overlord's goals:

Goals: 3
Current Total: 1

Overlord is a two way defenseman and is putting lots of points into scoring lately. That should help out his goal scoring production, as he only has one goal throughout twenty games. Of course, Overlord wants to improve there.

Assists: 8
Current Total: 3

This may seem like a stretch for the Saskatoon native, but it is not out of reach for Overlord. So far, he has recorded 3 assists, with fairly low passing ratings. He plans for passing to be at around 55 by the end of the season, so this is not a whim, but rather a realistic goal.

+/-: 5
Current Total: 2

This is one of the most important ratings to Overlord personally. He believes that any good defenseman should be allowing little goals while on the ice, and that he should be contributing to his team. He wants to improve this as the season goes on, and this should be possible for the DFA as he sees an increase in minutes.

PIM: Less than 6
Current Total: 2

Staying out of the penalty box is one of the biggest ways Overlord can assist his team. He's only logged two penalty minutes so far, and should be able to maintain this clean play throughout the regular season. It could change though, as one hot headed game could blow this goal away.

Hits: 20
Current Total: 9

A rather underwhelming goal at first glance, but hitting is one of Overlord's weaknesses (other than with rival Quick Mafs' girlfriend, of course). He doesn't want to put in points to this, as it will take 2x as much TPE to develop.

Goals: 100
Assists: 50
Points: 150
SHT %: 90

You might take a look at these goals and think what the fuck's this guy doing? This dude after 20 games has got 1 goal,3 assists, 4 points and a 8.33 shot percentage. Why is he setting these goals? He'd have to score atleast 3.3 goals a game for the remainder of the season to even hit his most realistic goal. There's no chance right?

This dude is the worst shooter in the whole SMJHL, his first and only goal came when a poor clearance ricocheted off his kneepad and into the net. His three assists all came from misplaced shots which happened to A) hit a wingers pads or sticks and in or c) Lavelle accidentally tripping on the ice and pushing the puck into a scorable area.

Why do I know I can get these stats? Because I'm the greatest fucking SMJHL,SHL and IIHF player to ever grace the fucking ice. If you've got a problem with that then I recommend you practice some more for another 10 years or so, by then you'll only be 50 years behind me in terms of development. I don't even call these goals, these are my accomplishments for this year because baby they're not a projection or a prediction, they're a certainty.

Projected Stats:
G: 7
A: 28
PTS: 35
+/-: +3

As a rookie in the SMJHL, you aren’t really expected to be an outstanding player, I saw my player as being a core player who was here to help the team, but early he has proved to like to pass the puck, and get some points, that’s why I’ve gone with 35 points. Right now, he is a .5 point per game player, but I feel that with updates throughout the season, and other team players getting better and better, that 35 points should be very acceptable number for him. He doesn’t seem to be much of a shooter, that’s why I’m only expecting 7 goals, and that might even be a little ambitus seeing as his shooting percentage is 2.22% with 45 shots taken. I also expect all my players to be in the plus column. Everybody likes a team player, and mine should be no different, right now he sits at a terrible -7 through 22 games, so he has some big work to do to turn it around, but as I said earlier, once the team starts improving as a whole, all players should see a great return in terms of +/-.

8 goals
So far, Risolo has three goals. I figure, since that is through 22 games, which is a little under half the season, I could score 8 goals this season. Especially since I will keep training and get better in my attributes. I would like to score more than 8, but luckily my team has it covered.

8 assists
Risolo also has 8 assists so far through 22 games, so I think he can do about the same as goals. Maybe a little more, since passing is, I guess...easier.

+/-: something positive
It's very hard to predict what the plus minus ratio will be for Risolo, since it is at a pretty neutral number right now. Currently sitting at a +2, Risolo hopes to increase that as he works to make more contributions on the ice. With better attributes, a better stat should come, but who knows, especially with the sim engine that the league uses and it's known variability.

Hits: 25
Look, I'm at 11 right now, but I'm trying to get my defense up, and trying to get my strength up. With any luck, hits should follow as it keep putting in work in the weight room.

Current stats:
GP: 23
Goals: 6
Assists: 5
+/-: -4
PIM: 4

Goals: 15
Assists: 20
+/-: 2
PIM: 10 or under

My goals for this season in terms of goals and assists may seem a little high compared to what I have done so far, these goals are well within reach. My ice time has increased and I am constantly getting better. I am built to be a playmaker, but so far, goals have come easier. I expect these two stats to do a complete 180 and I can get the final 15 assists and 9 goals to reach my goals. Next is my +/- rating of 2. It is currently a -4, but I am hoping that I can help the team more than worsen the team with my increased ice time. Also, with Vancouver being relatively young, we are all improving and are hoping to turn it around soon. Lastly, I'm hoping for my penalty minutes to stay low and be 10 or under. I cannot help the team if I'm not on the ice, so I must stay disciplined.

Points - 30

I feel like 30 points is a reasonable goal to reach. With the knights re-tooling and Jones getting more ice time i feel like this number will improve. Obviously id like it higher but ill take what i can get.

SHT% - 6.35%

Jones' shooting percentage is sitting pretty high right now at 9.76%. While i belive it is possible he can maintain that pace i also feel as a rookie he will dip a bit.

Goals - 15

Scoring is Jones' bread and butter. Although his assists currently outweigh his goals i don’t see this trend continuing. His shot is top level and though the season he will get more opportunity to show that

(+/-) – (-15)
Jones has not had a good start to the year in this category and that will probably continue as the Knights have gone full re-tool mode to prepare for next season.

Predictions for Season 37:

Despite being one of only 3 centers on the team, Shawn Gretzky is having a somewhat disappointing season. However, there is still time to turn it around but it will take some time, Here are the predictions I have for him this season:

GOALS: 5

So far this season, Gretzky only has 1 goal in 25 games, however, I think he will pick it up near the end of the season and score at least 5 more goals. I hope so because 1 goal is pretty bad, especially if you have a name like Gretzky.

ASSISTS: 10

Again, this season, Gretzky only has 2 assists on the season. I expect him to pick it up in the final stretch and get at least 8 more assists to reach double digits on the season. That would be a respectable rookie season in the SMJHL IMO.

POINTS: 15

On the season, Gretzky only has 3 points. It might be stretch to think he can pick it up and get 12 in his remaining games, especially if he is getting only 16 minutes of ice time a night with no PP time. So hopefully that starts to change as he practices more.

FO%: 52%

Right now Gretzky is under 50% on the draw with only 49% won on the season. I think he can pick it up and get over the .500 mark and even go further than that with 52% won on the season.

I think these are all obtainable goals for the rest of the season. Hopefully Shawn Gretzky and the Whalers can pick it up for the rest of the season and make the playoffs.

Maurice Ricard SMJHL Rookie Season goals

P/20: 0.45 or better
A little over halfway through the season, I'm averaging roughly one point per hour of time on the ice. That's not bad, all things considered, but I won't achieve any goals by being "not bad". I need to push, I need to stand out at least a little. Among rookie defensemen, it isn't common to see anyone scoring more than half a point every twenty minutes. So that would be my target, ideally. However, realistic goals are the route to long-term success. Given that I play on the third line, and my strengths lie more in passing than shooting, I should perhaps adjust expectation downward slightly. A target of 0.45 P/20 is ambitious without being unattainable, and for a third line defenseman, it's quite impressive, looking at SMJHL stats this year at least.

Shots Blocked: 60 or more
Blocking an average of one shot per game would be a nice start, and that's what I'm on target for at the moment. But this isn't pushing me. This isn't distinguishing myself. Last season, Barbashev and Nylander were rookie defensemen here in Prince George. Both averaged one or more shots blocked per game, and were the leaders among rookies in that stat. I like to think I'm as good as both of them at a comparable time in their careers, if not better defensively. This draft class seems to be a bit stronger defensively, in fact. As a result, I'm aiming a bit higher.

Star of the Game: Once or more
It's difficult to stand out as a defenseman when you're not scoring goals, I feel. I've been named among the three stars for a game precisely once since I started playing in this league. And I was the second. That's not enough. I want to be number one. I arrived in this league an unknown quantity, I sure as hell won't be leaving it as one. Just one single standout game is all it will take, to make sure there are plenty of people who know who I am.

Goals Target: 15
Current: 4
This is the stat for Howie Dewitt. It’s been a frustrating start to life for the young sniper, mired by bad luck with shots and being shifted between not just lines but teams. He remains confident, however, that he will comfortably break double figures before the end of the season. It simply would not be Howie Dewitt if he didn’t.

Assists Target: 15
Current: 4
Assists are considerably less important but Howie Dewitt sees them as a by-product of his shooting. He dislikes failing to score but will accept an assist if the goalie, somehow, does the unthinkable and makes the stop but a teammate taps it in.

SHT % Target: 15%
Current: 10%
If Howie Dewitt is to prove he’s the best goalscorer around, he must start to convert more of his shots. He also loves the number 15 apparently.

PP Goals Target: 5
Current: 0
There’s no greater opportunity to score than when the opposition are missing a player or two. This time should be when he shows the true way of Howie Dewitt by taking advantage.

GOALS

Prediction: 7

Noah is not known as a player who scores a lot of goals so this is quite a low number, however he is still able to do light the lamp on occasion so I have chosen 7 to be my prediction. There's been a slow start so far with only 3 goals scored but I think as the season goes on and Noah keeps on getting better it will improve and 7 goals will be scored over the season.

ASSISTS

Prediction: 25

While he is not much of a goalscorer Noah's strong skating and passing skills make him a effective playmaking defender, and so I think his assists total will be much stronger. He is on course to make 20 assists this season but I think his play will continue to improve and this total will increase and he'll hit the 25 assist mark by the end of the season.

HITS

Prediction: 45

Noah is not known as a physical player but so far this season there has been a bit of a tougher edge to his game that could continue. Assuming Noah's physicality keeps going I predict he will pound the body 45 times this season, a good amount for an undersized offensive defensemen.

+/-

Prediction: -10

The Kelowna Knights are by a straight up bad team this season and despite Noah's best efforts this isn't likely to change any time soon. This team reflective stat will be a tough one to take this season, and could be a lot worse than -10.

Hits - 30

As a power forward, one of my main goals is go to out there on the forecheck and instill some doubt in the opponents line. The easiest way to do this is to deliver some hits. I'm currently sitting at 21 hits, and can easily see hitting my goal of 30 for the season.

Shots - 40

Look, let's be honest with ourselves for a minute - scoring is my weakness.

This is my outlook on scoring. I'm not out there to score, I'm not going to dangle around the D and score that game-winning breakaway goal in game 7 of the playoffs. Would I like to? Hell yeah! So what do I do? I live by Michael Scott's quote. If I can end the sesaon with 40 shots on goal, I would be happy.

+/- - 0

I'm not exactly proud of this one, but it's a goal. Like I've said, I'm out there to hit and hopefully fire some pucks on the net. My defensive side of the game is decent, and only getting better. I'm not going to get a lot of points, and being on the third line I'm not looking for my teammates to carry my + rating. If I'm not a liability for my rookie season, I feel like I belong here and not in a lower league. Next season, I have a feeling we'll see a nice number here!

Games played: Less than 50
Goals: 4
Assists: 10
+/-: +5

Oliver Hunter is the newest member of the Colorado Mammoths and has already found himself on the team's third line.

Currently, Hunter has only put up an assist on the team's score sheet this season but the young winger is optimistic that he will be able to add on to his offense as he learns to play the game.

Oliver is a key part of the bottom six for Colorado and will be one of the team's go to player's for the future. It's expected that he will be selected in the upcoming SHL Entry Draft and then will continue to play for Colorado as a send down player.

Unfortunately for Hunter, he will have less experience than that of the other draft prospects. The work to turn himself into one of the league's top prospects will certainly be a task, but the winger from Newcastle seems up to the challenge.

To become one of the top prospects, Hunter will have to focus on his contributions for Colorado. Right now, he has not been much of a star on the ice, but if Hunter can work on his goals, assists, and +/- rating then he will be be well on his way to one of the league's up-and-coming stars.

Goals: 8
Assists: 12
+/- 0
Hits: 50

So my predictions are pretty low because simply put, I had a really bad start with my player, chemistry is a little lacking early and I don't believe changing lines will fix anything, Vakarian will just need to get better overall with tpe and learn to take more shots. I think at the latter 10 games of the season, I think Vakarian will start to pick it up but I think there's quite a few problems that I will need to fix in training.

So going into it: Goals. Vakarian only has 1 so far which is pretty horrendous. She hasn't been taking much shots so I'm hoping once I get my other stats closer to scoring, she will take more shots and that will hopefully result in more goals.

Assists, I think 12 assists is very doable, have to get lucky with a few of them but as the team gets better, assists will come.

+/- Vakarian was a strangely high +/- player for the majority of the season before KEL traded away some of our players. I think that Vakarian will still somehow keep a even +/- despite it trending downward

Hits: Vakarian is about hit per game so I'm gonna assume that will continue and end around 50.
