Jonny Tsunami Surf Rankings (2x Draft Media)

Jonny Tsunami is a premier surfer from Hawaii. Tsunami could very well be the greatest surfer in the history of the Simulation Hockey League. Throughout his time in the Pro Baseball Experience, Jonny Tsunami has been known to hit up surf spots before and after home/away games. There is no doubt Tsunami would also do the same while in the SMJHL. Jonny Tsunami was drafted 30th overall by the Maine Timber. Jonny Tsunami did some extensive research on all the cities in the SMJHL to see which teams had the best surf situation.
1. ![]() This was the easiest to rank. Anaheim is in Orange County, and Orange County has some of the top surf in all of America. Jonny Tsunami won the US Open in Huntington Beach (Surf City USA) twice in a row. There are also countless surf spots from Newport Beach, The Wedge, the aforementioned Hunting Pier, San Clemente (Trestles and San Onofre), and Laguna Beach. Anaheim is also a 2+ hour drive from either San Diego or Malibu for even more waves. With plenty of options, either looking for bigger swell or more subdued waves, Anaheim was the top choice for Jonny Tsunami. Jonny will look forward to playing the Anaheim Outlaws the most this season. 2. ![]() Carolina is home to the Outer Banks, where there are powerful beach breaks in the fall. This is one of the premier East Coast surfing spots. There are also plenty of options such as Cape Hatteras, Nags Head and S-Curves. Jonny Tsunami has never surfed here, so he is looking forward to fall Hockey in Carolina. A big con here is that there are sharks, and Jonny Tsunami does not mess with sharks. As long as Jonny Tsunami doesn't get eaten by a shark, or tangles with a Kraken, he will look forward to playing against Carolina. 3. ![]() Vancouver is in British Columbia (I think?) and is home to the city of Toffino, on the northwest side of the Vancouver Island, and Chesterman Beach and Cox Bay Beach, two popular breaks in Canada. Cox Bay Beach may be one of the more crowded beaches Jonny Tsunami has been to, but that is probably because he was there during an international competition, where he came in 2nd (rare loss for Jonny Tsunami, must have been the Canadian bias or something). Jonny Tsunami does not particularly enjoy the cold surf, but may enjoy it more now that he is playing hockey. 4. ![]() According to google, there are a few specific beaches that Jonny Tsunami should check out in Maine. These are Higgins Beach, Old Orchard Beach and Fortunes Rock. Luckily, there's surf in the fall/winter so Jonny Tsunami will be spending a majority of his time surfing in one of these three spots during non-games. Jonny will definitely become a regular to the beachgoers. 5. ![]() It's getting harder to figure out if there's surf in these areas since I don't know where these cities actually are on a map, but Habitat 67 is located in Montreal, Quebec and is Canada's most popular river wave. Jonny Tsunami has never rode a river wave so he excited to try that out when he visits Quebec City. 6. ![]() Jonny Tsunami didn't even know Newfoundland was a city (is it?), but according to surf heads, there are World Class waves waiting in Portugal Cove South, New Melbourne, and Grates Cove. The biggest battle is the icy cold waters. Jonny Tsunami will need to find some local surfers out there to show him the way to these surf spots. 7. ![]() No idea where Anchorage is in comparison to rest of Alaska, but Alaska is home to the Aleutian Islands, Kodiak Island, Sitka Sound and Yakutat. According to the Alaska locals, The Aleutians are the frozen Hawaii. If that's the case, count Jonny Tsunami in. He will figure out how to get there and ride those waves. 8. ![]() From some deep google searching, it looks like Kelowna is known for their wakesurfing. The two pioneers of the sport are from this lovely area. Jonny Tsunami is a fan of all types of surfing, so he would like to visit and try this out. 9. ![]() There are pictures of surfing on the Great Lakes, that look alright, and any surf at this point is good surf. Detroit lands 9th due to having some waves, even if they aren't that big. 10. ![]() Sure, Nevada may be land locked, but Jonny Tsunami will not hesitate to go Las Vegas and hit one of The Strips Wave Pools to catch some fake waves. 11. ![]() Apparently there is a growing community of wave surfing along the Colorado River, but if Jonny Tsunami is in Colorado, he would probably prefer to snowboard with his urchin friends. 12. ![]() Jonny Tsunami found absolutely no surfing in the land locked state of Missouri. This will be one of the most depressing trips of the season. It will be interesting to see if there is a correlation between Jonny's surf spot rankings and Jonny Tsunami's level of play. Hoping to teach some teammates how to surf during the season, and hopefully it helps out with team bonding, or at the very least their balance on the ice. Please do not surf the Colorado river. That could be very dangerous Mr. Tsunami, do this instead https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGL_41pjCE0
