With the S62 SHL draft approaching, the big question on everyones mind is, what the hell do we do with the mocks. There is always that one pick that sets things on a downward spiral, causing everyones mocks to go to shit. You copy a mock expert, post it in and think great, that's at least 6 TPE, everything is a lock. Then boom, 3rd Overall is a dark horse and picks 4-20 feel like it went into a randomizer. So, that's exactly what I did. I took the top 41 prospects, removing JY as he is auto-drafted in the 2nd round and randomized the list, took the top 20 as first rounders and here we have it, the perfect mock , completely GM proof

![]() Manhattan may have some solid defensive prospects coming up, but JayWhy must have seen some extra flare in the young prospect. Already holding a player updater role in the league and sitting #22 on the draft class TPE board, @Vaxlare has made some strides in their young career, and now the Rage do not need to look at another defenseman for at least 6 drafts. 2nd Overall - Borje Samuelsson - ![]() Borje heading to Winnipeg makes sense. A veteran user with a new shot of life into the league getting a chance to prove his worth in a Franchise with a long history, the Jets Aurora need defenseman they can count on, and Samuelsson can deliver everything they need in one package. Solid defensive stats paired with a howitzer from the blueline, Borje will be leading defensive point production for a long time coming. 3rd Overall - Akashi SixNine Jr. ![]() Another storied vet, this time heading to Seattle to offer his completely balanced services. A true jack of all trades, master of none, his biggest weakness is his willingness to sacrifice his body defensively, but that's an easy fix for a player so young in his career. Seattle needs this out of their players if they plan on improving in the standings. Akashi will lead their younger core into the future and bring the Argonauts into cup contention 4th Overall - Ignaz Pleyel - ![]() Winnipeg got their star defenseman, now they needed someone who can be the face of their forwards corps and Pleyel fits the bill to a T. A well rounded forward with tons of potential in their game is exactly what Ace needs. Not only does Ignaz bring physicality around the entire ice, his ability to be a threat offensively from anywhere in the opponents end is a massive asset to any organization, add in his defensive arsenal positioning, stickwork and shotblocking and you have a complete player, ready for any role and task given. 5th Overall - Dirty Boots - ![]() Heading to San Fransisco is the hardest working player in the SMJHL, at least his boots look like he is. One of the top puck movers in the draft class, this 6'1 defenseman focuses on shutting down the opposing offense and then shovelling the puck to his own forwards to start a breakout. Holding the best +/- for defenseman on the Falcons this season is evidence of that Dirty Boots hates seeing the puck in his own zone 6th Overall - Lonley Stagan - ![]() Who the hell is Lonley Stagan? This is exactly what they wanted you to think and you fell right into their trap. While his Stat line isn't that impressive coming off his first season with Nevada, they are in fact still active and improving. Buffalo saw the promise in the young skater and under the mentorship of the veteran players of the Stampede they will look to get him firing on all cylinders. Will he be ready to jump into the SHL when called upon in a couple seasons? 7th Overall - Paul Koivu - ![]() One of the darkest of horses this draft, people suspected Koivu could drop anywhere from 1-20. Montreal decided they didn't want to gamble on Koivu being available later in the draft and snagged them early. Unknown to most rookies, Koivu was actually near the top of his class in earning, as well as being a great LR presence brings him into the light for GMs. A recreate that has already dealt with developing a player in the FHM era is an asset as the learning curve is gone and they can just do what they do best, earn, develop, and perform. 8th Overall - Alexander Mackenzie - ![]() LAP Going with Mackenzie here is no surprise to anyone. Sitting back in a respectable 32nd in earning which is basically tied for first after he makes it as a 2k TPE player. He hasn't has much time to show what he can do on the ice with Newfoundland, but in the 2 seasons he is going to break away and be one of the powerhouses of the J. With a cool $16 million in the bank, his potential is growing and LA wants to capitalize early. 9th Overall - Vasily Arkhangelsky - ![]() Here comes the V-12 in at a surprising #9. While a very similar in terms of earning, their bank is 10 times small than that of Mackenzie's. Atlanta may have taken a small risk with this one but if it works out, then it really looks great on them. They love to shoot the puck, but have trouble hitting the net, but the defensive prowess is undeniable. There is no hesitation getting in front of the puck or running into the opposition with V-12. Keeping that style will do wonders for the Inferno organization in the long run. 10th Overall - Aksel Fiske - ![]() Fiske was touted to be one of the top prospects in the S62 draft, but he dropped to 10th overall to Edmonton. While this likely isn't the steal of the draft, it's still a huge win for Edmonton as they pick up a player who can't really hit the net but his passes are tape to tape consistently. The Blizzard went heavy on defense last draft, it makes sense for them to try and replenish on forwards here. 11th Overall - Ka Chow - ![]() Another Defenseman off the board, this time to Toronto. They didn't really need another one, but defense wins championships so may as well go for it! Ka Chow put up better offensive numbers in their rookie season than they did defensively, but it was evident that it didn't hurt their game too badly finishing with a +5. This could pan out well for Toronto 12th Overall - Spack Jarrow - ![]() Jarrow goes exactly where everyone expected here. With a bank of 59 million and growing as a first gen player, that is a major feat. Its not like the top few picks in the S21 SHL draft class but still a very respectable amount. Winnipeg have a steal here and it's going to pay off bigtime in the standings and locker room. They kind of needed everything so it works 13th Overall - Jay O'Neil - ![]() O'Neil is ok. They were able to rack up a +41 while only putting up 21 points with an impressive 1.3% shooting average. Calgary is known for developing incredible players, so there is still hope yet for the budding all-star. The Dragons sure to have their work cut out for them with the 4th in TPE ranked prospect. 14th Overall - Merlin Metzler - ![]() Reaching down the draft board on this one is Winnipeg with a Metzler pick. They opted for wisdom over youth on this one, possibly hoping to bring in the veteran presence as a good role model for the young rookies. At 14th overall this isn't a terrible pick, they've been around the league a long time, so you can put more faith in their update consistency 15th Overall - Brick Wall - ![]() Goalie #1 is off the board here with Wall heading to Manhattan. They are in need of a goalie in the system so this works incredibly well for them. Wall has a ton of potential and it may not be too long before they are able to start getting more of a workload behind a goaltender nearing regression 16th Overall - Jaeger Jones - ![]() Jones is a force to be reckoned with on the ice and Seattle loves that grit. At 16th that isn't a risky pick as the offensive tools Jaeger Jones brings to the table are well worth the investment here. They have a couple centers coming up but having this extra piece opens up opportunities for trades to bring in assets that can put them in a position to contend 17th Overall - Connor O'Byrne - ![]() Tampa Bay walks out of the first round with one of the dark horses of the draft. O'Byrne is a major voice in the Anaheim locker room, and is looking toward a very productive sophomore season in the Juniors. At 17 the reward was worth way more than the risk with this pick. They have a couple faceoff specialists already, but O'Byrne might be the catalyst the Barracuda need to enter the top echelon of the SHL. 18th Overall - Vin Bangsa-Wamy - ![]() Bangsa-Whamy didn't see much icetime this season with Colorado, but most players who show signs of life throughout the season get drafted. Montreal is putting a lot of faith in bringing them back to activity, but the opportunity to get back on track is still very much alive here. 19th Overall - Velký Muž - ![]() At first glance, you think Texas suffered the same fate as Montreal in the previous pick, but Velký Muž is very much alive and kicking around the league. Despite being thought as a late draft pick by most parties, They were able to sneak into the first round and possibly become the Cinderella story of the draft 20th Overall - Rebecca Montagne - ![]() The second goalie and the official 'Over' in the Mock draft has been hit, congratulations to those who would have won TPE. Montagne has a big opportunity here to become the starter for the defending Challenge Cup Champions who need a young goalie coming up through the system Congratulations to the draftees and I hope you all enjoy your new homes on Sunday. This is a really enjoyable draft class to hang out with, I appreciate you all putting up with Ben Jammin in the rookie discord. I know it can be tough sometimes, but when we took him in from the pound, he could barely even post an activity check. Now look, he's not even in the first round but he's got some TPE and is getting drafted at some point. Go Ben Go! Have fun with the league, enjoy it, and I hope I get the opportunity to play with some of you in the future! ![]() ![]() Moderators Cozy Connoisseur Quote:Congratulations to the draftees and I hope you all enjoy your new homes on Sunday.
