Brain Slugs Bad - The End of Melvin

Melvin retired recently, and he went to explore the woods around his final teams resting place before returning to his home state of Michigan. As he wandered through the woods in Winnipeg, after his final season, he found that climate change had warmed his natural habit slightly more than it should have. This led to Melvin having encountered a horrid parasite, one that has interacted with many deer, but seems to have a particular issue for the moose itself.
After burrowing into his brain, Melvin walked around in a zombie-like state for awhile, no longer eating, struggling to maintain his body temperature. It was agony for awhile, until he slowly starved to death. Despite a long career and even longer life, it was finally time for the moose to feel at rest, back to the wild from which he first met his dear friend, Daria Guava-Fresca. - After a little over 3 years in the SHL, and another year on top of that in the ISFL, Melvin has finally decided to kick the bucket. It will be a little bit weird, to no longer be known as moose, though, honestly, I imagine there are many people who will always refer to me in some way like that. I had a lot of fun having the ice skating monstrosity, thinking of how to apply PTs to him and the like. I’m going to miss him terribly. This is probably the longest I’ve stuck with anything like this before, and to have Melvin finally be gone is a little bit sad. That said, I’ll be recreating at the trade deadline, and I’m excited about my newfound journey. I want to thank every team that I was a part of, through both my J career and my SHL career. Melvin definitely got around, and was on 6 teams between both leagues before he retired. It’s time to let him rest, and no longer make him feel as though he has to drag his old bones out onto the ice anymore. I appreciate every GM that I’ve had here in my time in the SHL, it’s been an adventure to DFA with St. Louis, drafted by Nevada where I’d spend the eternity of my SMJHL Career. Then to be with Manhattan for several seasons, a brief stint with New Orleans after that, before settling into Chicago for a wild few seasons and then my final resting place of Winnipeg. Every single friend, every single human, every interaction, and all of my jobs and careers, it feels so weird to feel it somewhat ending with the retirement of Melvin, but at the same time, I’m still here, still sticking around, and I truly cannot wait until it’s time to recreate and begin blasting out new media and a new storyline with my beautiful young player. All my love to all those who GM’d Melvin, played with him, etc. It’s a much longer list than I realized, and I definitely will miss someone if I try and write them all down. Instead, I’m so thankful for the opportunity to have played in as many places as possible, as it allowed to me to make and meet so many new friends. See you in the next career. ![]() ![]() ![]() Registered Spins and Hugs ![]() Commissioner Turtle Lord ![]() IIHF Head Office Fantasy Flame Out
