Deep Dive #2 - YUM S82 Entry Draft

About half way into the season the Yukon Malamutes find themselves 8th in the league, and 5th in the Northern Conference. To some this may be less than ideal, but for a seemingly rebuilding team, or at least one that struggled enough last season to find themselves in possession of the first overall pick this year, you really can't ask for much more.
Building in the Draft With their first overall pick this season they drafted Melvin de Pengu Soderberg-Snooks, a left defence person (render is an animal so can't really discern gender) according to the portal, but a right winger according to the index (take your pick on what's correct I guess) with a bank of almost $100 million, and banked TPE of 257. This amount of TPE places them tied for 2nd in terms of total earned so far, only ONE singular TPE off from being tied for first, clearly a strong first overall pick. Their second pick was 20th overall, Mikko Rashford II, a centre with a more modest $17 million bank, but with banked TPE of 253, enough to make them tied for 34th overall this season for TPE earned. Despite the lower earnings (only 20 TPE off from first place), Rashford II is tied for first place on the team in points, tied with seasoned veterans like Hamilton Steelhawk. Rashford II has 12 goals with a shooting percentage of 19.4% which some may consider to be on the higher end, however, the bulk of their production comes from the 23 assists, which is third highest across the team. The third pick, Chase Huntington, was drafted 36th overall. A left winger with 234 TPE, they find themselves earning only 4 TPE less than Rashford II, tied for 6th on the team in points, with a pretty healthy split between goals and assists. Huntington has an average shooting percentage of 17.8%, which again may typically be considered high, but amongst the forwards on Yukon, it's actually the fourth lowest. Lastly, Huntington only has a bank balance of $400,000 which may be of concern regarding purchasing training in the weeks to come, but as it stands, still provides valuable production. Four picks in, and we're just now reaching the half way mark of Yukon's deep draft. At 52nd overall, Jack Aubrey, a centre from Brighton, USA was selected. Aubrey has the 39th highest TPE in the class, creating positive value for YUM, and also is an assist machine with 20 of their 23 points coming from assists. Aubrey is quite unlucky, at least compared to YUM forwards, having a shooting percentage of only 7.9%. 68th overall in the fifth round, Rain Sage 'Spyy' was selected and quite quickly went IA, resulting in their release from the team. The penultimate pick, in the sixth round was Nathan Martial, another released IA (released in order to sign me, I believe) Finally, if you have made it all this way, the very last pick drafted by the Yukon Malamutes, at 100 overall, was Giovanni Montini. Montini, a right winger with a $5 million bank, has earned the 97th most TPE in the draft class, providing positive value to YUM. Additionally, they have shown up on the scoresheet with 5 goals and 9 assists and find themselves with more production than me. ![]() ![]() SHL GM SHL GM
Seems like overall a good value draft for Yukon. Though the IA user has an interesting uh "history" with it. But this is not an appropriate place to discuss.
