There is quite a lot of exciting news coming out of the SHL. With a 4 team expansion draft looming our mocks are going to be all over the place since we have no idea what those 4 teams are going to come out looking like, or what players may be lost from the existing teams that will need to be replaced. But that isn't going to stop me from having a little fun with it! Let's kick off mock draft season with a first round mock based off the standings when I first started this media post (this took WAY longer then i expected LOL)

1) Minnesota - Rondellus-Ringo Raamat - RD - 280 TPE - St Louis Scarecrows

The Monarchs immediate need on the SHL roster is probably a forward, however they have 3 send downs at 592 TPE or above who should be seeing action in Minnesota soon. So with that in mind they go with one of the top defenders in the class to add to their 3 defenders currently sent down. @Ronniewalker has reached nearly 2100 TPE before with a previous player and Minnesota will be hoping they can reach new highs with this player.

2) Atlanta (via Toronto) - Jordin FourFour III - C - 281 TPE - St Louis Scarecrows

The Inferno are one of the top teams in the league but owning Toronto's 1st round pick lets them nab the top forward on the board with @FourFour's player. Four Four has been around the league since Season 13 and adds a great piece to an already loaded team where the only thing they are truly missing are some minor leaguers for the future.

3) Buffalo - Perry Fields - RD - 280 TPE - Anchorage Armada

The Stampede have two IA's on their defense so even though it is the strength of their team right now I think they look to continue to build on that. @Blues has been around the league since Season 20 so adding another veteran player to the Buffalo locker room can only make them a stronger team in the next few seasons.

4) San Francisco - Yu Nishinoya - RD- 277 TPE - Quebec City Citadelles

The Pride have no defenders in their minor league system right now. In addition they know they will be getting a solid LW with their co GM in the second round. So SF takes the first new create off the board grabbing @Durodo at 4OA.

5) Denver - Olivia Osgood - G - 274 TPE - Anchorage Armada

As an expansion team Denver is a wildcard. So I am going to go with a user in @Ricer13 who had a previous player peak over 2000 TPE. This will give Denver their potential first ever franchise goalie And should be a solid cornerstone pick for the franchise.

6) Cincinnati - Melvin de Pengu Soderberg-Snooks - LD - 274 TPE - Yukon Malamutes

Once again with no knowledge on the team layout I'm going to predict the expansion team from Cincy takes a user who had a previous player peaked high at 1906 TPE. @WithTheMoose

7) Madison - Luka Lilja - C - 273 TPE - Anchorage Armada

Sticking with a theme Madison grabs @retuperkele's latest player. Having reached over 2100 with a previous player This could be the 1st line center that Madison has for a long long time.

8) Nashville - Greed - LW - 273 TPE - Newfoundland Berserkers

Continuing with this theme Nashville grabs @jeffie43 who had a previous player also eclipse 2000 TPE. Greed should be a top flight winger for Nashville for the first 10+ seasons of the franchises history.

9) Seattle (via Baltimore) - Five Hole Goes West - C - 280 TPE - Carolina Kraken

The Argonauts are in a similar position that Atlanta is in where they have a solid team but are picking high due to a previous trade. Since they don't have any pressing needs they will take the top TPE player left available and right now that is my player FHGW.

10) Hamilton - Shio Corin - LW - 277 TPE - St Louis Scarecrows

The Steelhawks have a loaded minor league system so I could see them potentially trading out of this pick for future considerations. But I'm not mocking drafts so in this format they are going to take the top TPE player available in @Flyerfan9988 to add to their minor league arsenal.

11) Manhattan - Lurtz Makoare - G - 270 TPE - Quebec City Citadelles

The Rage could go a few different ways with this pick, but as they do not have any goalies in their minor league systeam @FaraDian is the choice here to give them someone who will learn behind the two goalies on the SHL roster and will potentially help tend the net in a few seasons.

12) Texas - Jumbose Chitters - LD - 271 TPE - Carolina Kraken

After drafting 10 players last season the Renegades continue to build by selecting @Rokkat to add to their defensive unit. With two players from the mid 60 seasons still playing Texas will need to bring up some younger players in the relatively near future to fortify the back end.

13) Philadelphia - Matteo St. Ark - RW - 274 TPE - Colorado Raptors

The Forge have focused on addressing their youth on defense the last couple drafts so this draft they grab @Arkz to add to their minor league forward squad.

14) Texas (via Winnipeg) - Darnell Mohamed Johnson Herrera - 261 TPE - Maine Timber

The Renegades continue to build their defensive depth here and grab @frithjofr securing a user who had a successful previous player over 1300 TPE (edited as I mistakenly drafted the same player twice here so top defender left on my board).

15) Manhattan (via Chicago) - Joe Schmoe - C - 275 TPE - Nevada Battlleborn

The Rage grab new user @matt here at 15 adding a center from a user who is new to the sim world but has been active in both the ISFL and SHL locker rooms. This could be a steal at 15 OA.

16) Seattle (via New Orleans) - Zara Wolf - LW - 272 TPE - Thunder Bay Walleye

After going new user with their first pick Seattle decides on a recreate presence here with @BANACKOCK whose previous player reached over 1700 TPE

17) Montreal - Haddie Minch - G - 247 TPE - Ottawa Highlanders

With their current backup goalie IA the Patriotes need a goalie and so they grab the top one left on draft boards with @Mooty99 to be their backup goalie until ready to takeover the job down the line.

18) Edmonton - Roi DuPain - C - 267 TPE - Detroit Falcons

The Blizzard go with a new create @Zag here. Zag is a mainstay in discord and will add an active user to the Edmonton depth which currently has exactly 0 send downs.

19) Los Angeles - Helmfried Kunkel - C - 271 TPE - Carolina Kraken

@bfan8475 is the pick for the Panthers here at 19. LA is getting a solid new create forward who has been extremely active in the Carolina LR. LA like Edmonton has 0 send downs currently and with 3 forwards nearing 20 seasons Kunkel should be a shot of youth at a position of need within a few seasons.

20) New England - Emiliano L. Hefe - LW - 270 TPE - San Diego Tidal

With 4 send down defenseman to only 3 forwards the Wolfpack grab the top new create forward left on the board @Moreorless89 Hoping to add another forward for the future to grow with the current send down core.

21) Hamilton (via Seattle) - Iam Essellemm Jr. - 271 TPE - San Diego Tidal

Two Tidal players go back to back as the Steelhawks grab @iamslm22 here. Hamilton went with a forward earlier in the round so grabbing a new create defenseman here they hope to balance their send down depth and have more good users to add to their locker room moving forward.

22) Tampa Bay - Roy Deez Rivers - RD - 266 TPE - Nevada Battleborn

The Barracuda have 5 forward send downs already in their system so they go with the best new create defenseman left on the board @RoyRivers. Roy is an active user from other sim leagues and should be a great addition to the club moving forward.

23) Manhattan (via Atlanta) - Melon Lord - LD - 266 TPE - Maine Timber

The Rage went forward earlier so here they go with another new create defenseman who is a sim league vet from other leagues with @TubaDeus. Adding another player who could be a steal here at the end of round 1.

24) Calgary - Lord Marshall Lorenzo Alstott - 267 TPE - Ottawa Highlanders

The Dragons wrap up round one of this mock by taking @Teslas player. Tesla is a recreate who reached almost 1900 TPE with their previous player allowing the current league leaders to add a very solid player to wrap up this mock.

I had a lot of fun doing this and I am sure that most if not all of this is going to be wrong, but hey that's what makes this experiment fun! I hope you all enjoyed the read and if I can I will try to get a little more insight and do another one closer to the draft after the expansion draft is completed.

Oh this is a fun article! Small history lesson though as you hit on Adelie's peak TPE! He actually peaked at around 2100, but he peaked before we had the portal! He'd already started regressing and was an old penguin when the portal came into existence, so portal peak wasn't his true peak and was actually two seasons into his regression. It's a funny portal fact that you'd have likely never run into if I hadn't regressed Adelie into the ground haha!
