Wolfpack

The New England Wolfpack have surprised a lot of folks this season with their ongoing performance. Most analysts picked them to finish outside the playoff picture with rookies such as Carter O’Callahan and Chuck Winnfield logging big, important minutes for the team. Most teams would encounter a hiccup with this, but apparently not the New England Wolfpack. The Wolfpack have surrounded their youth with some serious skill. Players like Logan Valentine and Zach Cuff were good stop-gaps for this season, but they were short term solutions. After this season, Zach Cuff will be retiring and Logan will likely hit the road towards free agency. There may be additional moves to supplement the team once the offseason rolls around that will warrant additional Free Agent attention as well.

Let’s start with why New England should be an attractive market for a free agent. New England is, in every shape and form, a hockey market. If you don’t like watching the big leagues (SHL, NHL, etc) you have a multitude of other leagues to choose from. New England boasts an incredible 7 AHL teams throughout Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Connecticut. Don’t want AHL? Hockey East NCAA has got what you need. 9 teams throughout New England represent Hockey East. Still not interested? Local High Schools might be what you're looking for. New England is a hockey hotbed, and Boston is sitting right in the middle of all of it.

The Wolfpack are an up and coming team, and that’s hard to say with an Eastern Conference Final team. We are on a serious youth movement with our top guys being drafted in S12 or later (Nike Kickz, Ace Faulkner, Alexey Kovalenko). Chuck Winnfield is ready for more minutes, Carter O’Callahan is going to step up and be a strong #2 centerman, and Gabriel DuJardin is going to be graduating from the Prince George Firebirds. The Wolfpack have many respectable members such as Fever, Martucci, Ask, Kyle, Sherrif. Edwin Ask is in the midst of a goaltenders duel with one of the best, if not the best goalies in the league in Josef Heiss and he is doing just as good right now. Our locker room has broken 200 pages through the season thus far, and we’re still cooking. While the Wolfpack will not be willing to overpay for a player, we do have some significant money available for free agents.

The Wolfpack have some definite needs this offseason. Rumors have it that GM Erik Chisling is going to be targeting two top 6 forwards
and a couple of defensemen this offseason. There are significant minutes available on this team, and significant cup potential as well. Chisling encourages potential free agents to keep the young New England franchise in mind this offseason when deciding their new homes.
