video of what happened

Neal will get 1-5 games for his knee, he saw Marchand and he knew what he was doing

Thornton will get 5-10, that was a blatant attack on Orpik, which stemmed from a clean hit on Eriksson by Orpik. Orpik laid out Eriksson with a clean hit, Thornton went to fight Orpik, but Orpik denied and kept playing.

I don't understand why now in the NHL that a player has to fight after a big clean hit?

the hit should have been interference imo
which would make it illegal...and resulting in a concussion (most likely)
not saying it was necessarily dirty, but you fight after a hit like that imo

close to intereference, but the puck was there, Orpik had already committed and Eriksson looked like he was going to play the puck

Orpik kept everything down and was a clean hit, you shouldn't have to fight after those

tbh, it looks more like a collision, Orpik looks like he has his eyes on the puck, then it takes that bounce and he sees Eriksson and finishes him basically

its not that much Interference, the puck was in the vicinity of the hit, and Eriksson looked like he was going to make a play with the puck when Orpik committed to the hit

Eriksson looks at the puck as it's in his feet and moves his stick in the direction AS Orpik hits him. . .That isn't interference.

You don't have to fight for clean hits, if Thornton wanted to go after someone it should have been Neal, and it should have been straight up. No tripping from behind and hitting while they're down and can't defend themselves.

I don't think there are degrees of interference. Eriksson didn't touch the puck, therefore it was interference.

Just remember, NHL players don't get to see the replay. Thornton sees a big hit and an injury, on a borderline interference, what do you think he'll do? Obviously he went too far, but still.
