The Streak Is Over

The Streak Is Over

When David Winter entered the league in Season 7 as a rookie for the Minnesota Chiefs, his team narrowly missed out on making the playoffs. For the Chiefs it was a tough break as Minnesota had just gone all the way to game seven of the Challenge Cup finals a year earlier, but the team recovered quickly and was back in the playoffs the season after. It marked the beginning of what some call the first and only Chiefs dynasty to date, it's high point being two Challenge Cups in Season 10 and Season 12. For David Winter however, it marked the beginning of a magnificient streak. From Season 8 on, he never once missed the playoffs, sixteen consecutive seasons Winter made the postseason, playing for Minnesota, Manhattan, Hamilton and Seattle.

And now this streak is over.

Today the Seattle Riot got mathematically eliminated from the playoff race and for the first time since his rookie season, there will be no David Winter in the postseason. For Winter personally Season 24 will likely end up being the second worst individual season he had in almost a decade, with him currently sitting at 35 points this should only give more ammo to those people that claim that he is way past his prime and simply not good enough to lead a team on the ice anymore. Winter has refused any comment on his future so far, but is expected to adress these questions at the end of season press conference tomorrow.

This just made me realize Schenn made the playoffs every single season of his career. Counting this season, it will be 15, which may not have been enough to beat you Winter, but close. Tongue

Anyways, congrats on the great run, and I`m sure you"ll be right back at it next season.
