Ferdy Pergher's End of Season Presser
#1

I need money! :D

I'll most likely do a shout-out sort of thing, but also a Q&A. I don't promise I'll respond all questions considering I'm a whiny kid and I'd prefer avoiding very offensive comments, but anyway.

Sign up and/or ask away. Smile

PS: It's also a 3001 posts presser.

The Shout-Out Thing

easymoneysniper
Hey, Hamza. I've first come to know youin the Vancouver locker room, in your 18637647th season over there because of the Renegades' lack of interest in you. Turns out you've left but we keep bumping into each other (in a virtual manner, of course). I remember being very surprised at how efficient you were as a simmer in the SSF... I mean, I know this sounds harsh - and I apologise for it - but I was actually expecting you to shit the bed. Don't take it as an offense, though, I just didn't wanna get my hopes up and then get angry at things not working (so I do the reverse, which is expecting the worst and being happy with whatever comes up, something particularly easy when what comes up is actually good, like your commitment to the league and the job. So thanks!Wink. The league has folded, obviously, but it turns out you're around AGAIN... this time in the SMJHL committee. I'm really enjoying it there so far, so yet another good job. Let's hope it continues this way. :D

Bojo
Possibly the third person in this site that I really liked a lot (after Nuck and Steelhead because I already previously knew the former and the latter helped me with my build on my very first day in the league). Not only you do a great job with your team down there at the inappropriate tip of Florida, you're also a valuable member everywhere else, which is easy to notice by observing how no one really has anything to be said against you. You were the reason In had WKP very high in my pre-draft list and I appreciate all you've done for the whole community. Best of luck running your team in the future.

Ragnar#sweg( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°Wink
Just the fact you use a lenny face on your name makes you very likable to me. You did a fine job as a banker and I was happy to see you step up as a junior commissioner, given how the position seemed to lack active candidates before (no offense to the guys that held it before, it's just how I felt as a rookie). I've recently got a job under you, so I sure have to watch my words here, huh... I just realise I've said I got a work UNDER you. I'd go back and type it again if it wasn't a presser and if I weren't doing this for the word count. Oh well. Anyways, I hope I don't disappoint you as a member of the committee. #60inS22

Steelhead77
That guy that has shaped my player to what it is... I just wanna start off by saying how awesome all your assistance has been. You gave me all the knowledge I needed when I wasn't even on your team, and working in your team has been another opportunity to learn from your experience. Sharing the LR, we end up interacting a lot more now, and I must say I'm really happy about it. Not only a great mentor, you're a great member and an even better GM. Seriously, you've already turned this thing around, and I'm confident it'll only get better. Hope I'm decent enough as a player and a person.

Damn, that one Texas guy that doesn't mess with people! I don't really know you, but you seem to be a decent human being. All I want to say is I appreciate you not trying too hard to be a cool troll... you know... I'm trying not to be insulting here, so I'll just say I appreciate your good judgement, if that makes sense.

Mac
How am I supposed to begin this with? IP tracking would lead us all to believe I live in your basement, so maybe I know too much to just write out in a press conference. Jokes aside, though... I didn't interact much with you before "the thing" and I didn't really expect to. Until we were forced towards it, of course. I really like how you've handled that situation and how, in the end, we were able to sort of keep it cool and just move on. Your cooperation was awesome, and I really appreciate that. Even better is the fact you've been able to joke about it and not stress over, which I really like. Ultimately, what makes me happy the most is the fact you were able to clean your name. I even considered just leaving the league, but I didn't want your image to be hurt for something we knew you didn't do. Cheers

Storm
That Russian guy! (That isn't Russian anymore, by the way.) I remember when I first joined and found you to be really nice, but you were circled with negativity because you were inactive for some time or whatever. I guess you held the Russian position and then c took it? I remember how the whole national LR made me excited as hell. I couldn't wait to be drafted and talking to you guys was one hell of a way of passing time. Appreciate that! You're gone, now... but you're still a nice individual to talk to and generally have around the boards. You seem to be doing a fine GM job (or maybe pb does it all and you take credit? more likely so), and you seem to have really engaged this time around. I hope you don't go inactive again. Wink

Winter is Coming
Oh, hey... that prospect guy. The league definitely didn't expect a guy like you to pop out of nowhere, and I'm sure you were the first signal of a monster class in S25. I'm glad you decided to stick around and take this to the next level; it's quite fun seeing your activity. I like how you're never an ass to anyone, certainly helps your popularity even more. Unless something goes terribly wrong, it's probably safe to say you're a lock for a great player and potential Hall of Famer, huh... congratulations for that! Keep doing what you're doing. Don't harm Pushkin, though.

Šatan
At first, I didn't know you. At all. All I knew was that your name was an exploit of the differences between English and.. Czech? I'm inclined to say Czech. (Looking at your sig, it's bound to be Czech, indeed.) Your avatar is quite legendary, and that gif in your signature is nice, too. You seem to have a good sense of humour, and I support that. Keep posting intelligent stuff, we (as a league) enjoy it.

Nereus
One of the new guys I don't know that much. I've seen you around the forums and Luke Fleming does seem to be progressing well. You've got a job and everything! Definitely on the right path. Just a matter of time before you become a well known name, bud, proceed with the good work you've done so far. Cheers

O4L
I remember seeing your posts for the first time. It was back when I saw myself as nothing but a useless rookie, and I was afraid an elite guy like yourself wouldn't have the time to explain crap to someone like me, which is why I sort of turned away from talking to you. Time went by, I joined a team, and I can now confirm you're an awesome dude. Having you around the LRs is brilliant, and I really do hope you never go away from Calgary. In short, you're one of my favourites members of the site... I think that says enough.

benzasome
A Russian prospect! I don't know much about you, but I've seen you around the national locker room around occasionally, which is good. It definitely seems you've been putting in the work to become a great player, which is always nice to see, particularly from someone that also comes from the Motherland. I really do hope you continue to be active and turn out good, bud!

r1c3bowl22
I haven't had much contact with you myself, but I always heard a lot of positive things. You have a good reputation, and it's easy to see why. I appreciate your poise around the forums and your contributions. Apparently you were the newest member of the BoD, and I've certainly seen criticism on that, but oh well, who am I to judge when I don't see what goes on in the HO? It seems you're a regular contributor there, so I don't see a problem. Your player is a star for WKP, which is nice, too. That's that. If you wanted to be done in a more suggestive manner, I recommend you go talk to Bojo.

Rublic
The beard guy. :D The first thing I knew about you was that you were to become a GM for the Regina Force. I didn't know you at the time, but as we started sharing the LR, I realised you were the master of beards and a nice person to have on your team. I'm glad your team got relocated, though, because it was hard to take it seriously with that logo. Blame Spangles, you know.

Chris-McZehrl
Mighty German McZ, one of the most well known people around the site, and one that I heard of quite quickly. Not all commentaries are particularly favourable, but I must defend you and add that sharing locker rooms with you is pretty awesome, which is something I get to do in double dosis. VLAD is on his way to be an absolute stud just like Chris, and I'm not surprised. You really do know how to build a player and I'm stoked to play with you in Calgary. It's only a matter of time before McZehrl dominates the league again, and this time I'll be there to watch you succeed in Dragons red.

RaiN
Yet another guy that is one of my favourites on the site. I hadn't seen you much before becoming a Whaler, but that definitely changed afterwards. You were a great leader, and talking to you was very enjoyable. Barbashev was also off the charts when it came down to play on the ice, and I can't thank you enough for powering our way through so many times and carrying the team on the back. Most importantly, though, you're an awesome dude, and having you as the new Russia Head GM is an honor. I'm sure you're the guy to continue on c's work and make sure the Russian development progresses steadily.

Ohtaay
Another Russian guy! When I saw you drafted by WKP at #11 in the S22 Entry Draft, I felt quite suspicious. Of course I didn't know much about the league at all, but I saw people say that was a reach... and, obviously, they were wrong. You developed substantially and have become one of the leading players in your draft class, which benefits both the Platoon and the Motherland. Although I've had limited interactions with you, I can also say you're cool on the forums, too. And on the occasional Team Russia Kik. Smile

Are you happy with your rookie season?
What can Dragons fans expect to see from Pergher on the ice next season?
Say something nice about your defensive partner Michael Boychuk.
How did your rookie hazing turn out?

Dragons
1) I am. I didn't really shine myself, but that's not what the SHL is about. I played well enough not to be a major liability for the team and, as a group, we were able to break the curse and make it to the playoffs. That was great, and I look forward to repeating it and going farther next time around. It'll surely only go uphill from here, and, as I've said before... winning is not what makes me interested in this game. A good locker room and a nice community are the factors I'm looking for in a team. I've found both in Calgary, and I appreciate how welcoming all of the Dragons are. I look forward to becoming a better contributor, both on and off the ice.

2) I know this is a boring answer, but I'm pretty sure they can expect the same. I'll still be in a minor role and I still won't be a monster of a player, but I'll keep my training pace, I'll keep improving and giving my best. Sports are nothing but part of the entertainment industry after all, so delivering a good showing is always the objective. We do what we can and we hope it's good enough to make people enjoy it. Or at least that's my mentality. If anyone disagrees, feel free to fill a complaint and send it to .

3) Something nice about your defensive partner Michael Boychuk. Now, ignoring this poor joke and moving on... I just wanna say playing with him was a thrill. I knew him from much before thanks to sim leagues of the EA Sports' NHL game, and, although I wasn't particularly close to him, I knew he was a good man, one that is certainly dedicated to his hockey leagues. It wasn't a completely knew thing to see him around, then, but I'm really happy about how it all developed. He's been a very good linemate and nice person to have around the LR, too. I really hope he sticks around with the team and keeps up the awesomeness. It's definitely a nice addition, and I'm sure both of us will only continue to get better and better (the chemistry bond will surely help that, btw).

4) Very fine. I was afraid it'd be too harsh, but it wasn't. Yay Jala!

Quote:Originally posted by Kinsler@Jul 20 2015, 06:15 PM
Who are you pulling for the rest of the way in the playoffs ?
I will assume that means who I am supporting. And, in this case... several teams, to be honest. I didn't put much thought into who I wanted to win considering my team was in the race this time around. So when elimination came, I just felt like "meh". Still, I really like Toronto, Hamilton and, believe it or not, Los Angeles (I would've included Winnipeg if you scrubs didn't eliminate them :lolSmile. I will be okaywith whoever wins it, though, and I wish everyone good luck. I hope everyone enjoys it.

On purpose, to be fair.

Quote:Originally posted by Nereus@Aug 2 2015, 09:14 PM
Are there any SMJHL players that you'd like to see in a Calgary Dragons uniform in the near future?

What part of your game are you going to be working on the most this offseason?

What's on your mind the most heading into your sophomore year in the SHL?
1) It took me so long to answer the draft is already gone, wow. Tongue Anyways, I'll answer keeping in mind the S25 Draft. To be honest, most, if not all of the SMJHL players in this draft class interested me. As I talked to some more than others, levels of interest definitely varied, but it's not like I was focused on a few guys only. Every team had its active players, some more flashy than others, each with their own style, of course. I did feel a bit inclined to the Whalers purely because I got to know them much more in the LR throughout the season, but that's irrelevant bias, as I got some eventual talk with people from all over the league and I could tell all of you had your qualities. Leon Webb was the recreate that stood out the most to me (apart from my good friend Jesster, who was definitely out of reach), and I was really happy to see him come to Calgary.

2) Passing, discipline, endurance and checking are all stats I have been working on. I'm trying to make my build a bit more balanced, and I think these attributes will help me reach just that. Heading forward, I'll problem switch my focus back to the defensive side of things and continue to work on my journey to being a responsible two-way defenseman, but I also wanna correspond to my team's expectations when they need some scoring from me, and I have to keep that in mind, for sure.

3) I'm quite worried about regressing. Ultimately, whatever improvement is gain, and I'll make sure to keep pushing my performance and do what I can to see the Dragons organisation, team success is the ultimate goal. On a more personal aspect, though, my fear for playing worse than last season is definitely the predominant thought in my mind. If I could exchange personal stats for good numbers as a team and potentially a cup I definitely would, though, so I'm more focused on the cup run we're preparing for the upcoming playoffs. There are definitely reasons to hope for the best; our team is on the rise.

Interview If you could go to any other SHL team what would it be?

Interview How well do you think the Dragons will do next year?

Interview What part of your game do you think needs the most work?

Interview How do you feel about Russia's future in IIHF?

Interview How do you feel hockey is growing in Brazil? Have you done anything to encourage it?

1) I must say, first of all, that I really love the Dragons, and thus have no interest in effectively leaving the team and I don't seriously think about such matter. However, I don't use this as an excuse to avoid questions like this as I find them to be fun either way. Cutting straight to the point, though, I don't think there's one team I'd prefer over the others. New England, West Kendall, Buffalo and Portland all look quite good to me, however. It's important to note I'm not particularly worried about winning cups; I'd much rather just be involved with a nice community, and I think that's where these teams really shine, even if the two expansion ones are still very new and not full of people. On a second tier, I'd put Manhattan, Toronto, Winnipeg, Hamilton... Maybe Minnesota? I don't know. My opinion is very unstable for these mid-tier teams, but honestly, I'd put some thought into going pretty much everywhere. Please note, *pretty* much everywhere. Not actually everywhere, though...

2) I think we'll surprise most people. I don't think a cup win is exactly expected, but there's evidence to point towards belief that we will at least win a game in the postseason. Our young players have developed and we'll be bringing in two absolute beasts in VLAD McZehrl and Randy Randleman. Birkavs is gone - which is sad, by the way, sad to see you go, Birksy - but Alex Mack should be an appropriate replacement for the second line. Hunter Wong keeps getting better and better, further establishing himself as an elite goaltender in this league, too. We will make it to the playoffs, it's just a matter of how far. And, for this year, I think the scenario looks favourable. It's time to see the sun after the storm.

3) Defensive responsibility. I don't think I'm actually too bad in that area, but I certainly could use some major improvement. As a low pair defender, that is basically my main focus, and I don't believe it will change any time soon. I wanna be reliable, first of all, and I don't see what why I should diverge from this path any time soon. My offensive game is also weak, but that's not something that bothers me too much... not to say I won't work on it, though, because I definitely will. Just not what I keep in mind for most of the time.

4) It's very promising. We have played big in recruiting for the past few seasons, and we'll definitely see the payout soon. Our veterans don't seem to be regressing at all and the youngsters are coming in. You're one of the guys involved with this process, by the way; excited to see you grow in the league. Also interesting to note that, although the IIHF has a reputation of being useless and not being relevant, In think Russia really goes against the overall status quo. We have a locker room that is arguably the most active in the international scene, and the enjoyment of being part of that culture is definitely very enjoyable, just as much as winning as a team. For that, though, we just have to wait, and keeping working. Specially keep working.

5) Not really, no. People just don't understand it, and explaining the whole thing is useless when you can't engage them, which happens for two reason: a. they already have soccer; b. we don't have the appropriate climate to make it a thing. Sorry, guys, but it's the truth.

How do feel about playing with a forward , as your D partner in Russia this season?

Goals for the offseason?
1) I actually think that's a great opportunity of growth for the both of us. Although I classify myself as a two-way defenseman, I've always been particularly focused on being reliable on my own end, as I'm sure you can tell by reading the other answers. So having a balanced player with impressive firepower like yourself will make things work appropriately. I guess you can also make use of it, too; after all, the ice looks a lot different from the back perspective. I'm sure you can learn a thing or two in this line and maybe take it to your SHL play.

2) Keep improving. I'm working on various areas of my play, and I'm hoping it will show and help building chemistry when I take it to the team camp. Ultimately, this is yet another learning experience to be applied onto the upcoming season. So development is definitely the key work here.
