Super Early FA Rankings
#1

I'm going to be hitting FA after this upcoming season, and although I'd usually wait until after the cup final to post this, I've never had the opportunity to do one of these before and I need the money to train since I'm so poor. I've never been an FA before, and as such I'm not really quite sure exactly what I want yet and I'm putting it at 50/50 that I do end up testing free agency. I know people usually like to pretend that they're sure of what they're doing, but I'm not going to be dishonest here. There's a chance that these rankings are entirely different by the time I hit FA, in fact there's a rather good chance. As for now though, I'm just going to write down what I feel atm. So without further ado, here are my rankings:

1. Platoon
Of course the Platoon is my number one, this was the place where I started and a big reason why I'm so active on the site to this day. Bojo and Jed are like older brothers to me, and I really feel at home in this LR. Ted's a great guy, and we have some real up and coming players who are not only talented on the ice but fantastic to be around off it too. The reason I'd consider leaving, though, is the way it's all changed since I first joined. Syckez and 701, my 2 best friends on the site, have left since then, same with Andy, Jogurtaa, Joester, and others. Things aren't exactly the same, and although it still feels like home to me, it's a home that's missing something. If I do leave, I'll probably return someday, but as for now I'm tempted to try to see if I can recapture what I was missing, or if it was in West Kendall all along. It's the not knowing what else is out there that bothers me.

2. Rage
A team with a ton of guys I'd love to play with. I pretty much learned how to be a GM from Nike and Merica on team USA, and I pretty much passed that on to Narconis, who is currently serving as anchorage's co-head there. Nike, Merica, and Mook are all guys that I've seen run a team in one way or another, and all 3 know what it takes to win a championship. With all the former GM's/people of leadership roles here, I know that they must have a winning culture and I'd love to be able to join that. Maxy has always been one of those members I enjoy chatting with around the boards, we have common taste in games and movies and it'd be great to be in an LR with him. Merica and I will probably argue politics sometimes but he's interesting to have discussions with and I wouldnt mind it at all. Mook, Spangs, etc, all guys I enjoy. They've won cups recently, they are a bunch of guys who love to joke around and talk trash, but can also be very nice and polite, they have that balance that the Renes seem to lack. The downside to this team is that I, like 90% of the league, am not a fan of CJ at all. But since he probably isnt enough to suck all the enjoyment out of such a fun looking team, I think I can ignore him for now. I've also heard the rage are an LR centric team, which is fantastic news to me since I'm usually on mobile and hate using chatzy on my phone. With a host of good reasons to join this team, I could totally see myself donning the Red, Black, and White in the near future.

3. Renegades
Just 24 hours ago, there's no way this team would be so high. I'm not exactly alex's favorite, although from his recent comments on the boards I think he likes me just a bit better now. But the fact of the matter is, I'm personally a huge Deener fan and the things he has said since being named GM really spoke to me. The success this franchise has had lately is a huge positive in looking at this team, but the main negative has always been their personality around the boards. If this were to change between now and the end of next season, and they still had members I like, such as Bun and 701, I could totally be a renegade.

4. Wolfpack
I know, 3 east teams in my top 4 seems pretty strange. But the Wolfpack has always been my go to team to root for whenever West Kendall got knocked out of the playoffs, and were also my top destination before the S20 draft. As a Boston native, playing for a New England based team just seems natural for me, and I love that basically half of the league's Bruins fans seem to be on the squad at the moment. PB and Storm are awesome people, I've loved talking with them whenever I've had the chance to, and the team is totally stacked and seems a threat to become successful once again. The problem is, the team might be too stacked, and I really wouldnt be thrilled with the prospect of being a 3rd liner, although the great personalities in that LR might be just good enough to soften that blow for me. Mac, Ace, Artemis, Wiki, Alex, and that whole group just might be the best group of people in one LR I've ever heard seen in this league.

5. Chiefs
My eastern confrence bias shows again with this pick. JT seems like he has his shit together and the Chiefs might just be THE up and coming team to watch this season. I have a lot of respect for guys like Byrde, Argar, Park, and Toast, among others, and I think I'd be a pretty okay fit in this LR. The main drawback here is that I don't really have anyone I'd consider myself "close" with here, however I guess being in a new LR is an opportunity to make new friends, and as such I wouldnt let my lack of buddies here stop me from signing if the price was right.

6. Riot
The Riot are one of those teams that always seem to be improving, no matter how good they already are. GoB has been a GM for the longest time, he really knows his stuff and I think it'd be an absolute dream to be able to play under him. I don't really have that many friends here though, aside from Leo, c, and a few others. They could be a dark horse in the race to sign me, especially if they happen to draft one or two of my favorite Whalers rookies. At this time I'm really basing this on how many friends I have on each team, but like I said about Minny, being on a new team is an opportunity to make new friends, and were I offered a top 2 line spot and a decent amount of money I would definetly consider signing here.

7. Steelhawks
Two things make me want to play here: The people and GM. I worked with Tanner for a while on Team USA and know firsthand how great of a guy he is. He's been very successful lately with a team he had to pull back from the brink of mediocrity after the whole Banack debacle, and the way he's handled everything since that disaster as well as being able to hold the team's core together is something I really admire. Also, he has people such as Nuck, Bloobs, and Brumm that would make being in an LR with these guys awesome. Never really liked the steelhawks, idk if its the name or the logo or what, but I irrationally hate this team for some reason and thats why they're so low on my list.

8. Blizzard
They're a pretty successful team, have some really great guys like my boy Andy and a couple Ex Whalers, but I dont really know enough people on this team to put it high, I will say though that they could be a destination in the future. It's not the right time for me to become a blizz. I do have to say that they kind of have the whole "old boys club" thing goin on, and thats not a knock against Keenan or Tez at all, in fact I worked with Keenan for a while on team USA, but they seem to have a really tight knit group thing goin on and I'm just not sure if I want to try to break into that at this time.

9. Panthers
Nothing against this team, but besides Ragnar and a few others I really have no reason to put them higher on my list. They're a talented team and seem poised to finally get another championship in the near future, but despite living in Orange County I can't see myself in Los Angeles anytime soon.

10. Jets
L4E is an absolute GM god but besides that and a few of my favorite Whalers being on that team I couldnt ever be a jet. I've heard that the activity there is really low and I need a really active LR to keep me active. If I joined there I'd probably ask JC and L4E to give me sim tips which might help my GM'ing career but I doubt it would be worth the boringness.

11. Stars
Despite some good personalities on this team I haven't been a huge fan of Mark H and Dion lately and because I'm still a bit butthurt I dont want to sign here. Plus by all accounts it seems like Moushey wants to leave and since he'd be one of the main members who'd make me sign there it seems there arent enough reasons to sign here. That being said, it seems the team has been a gathering place for former whalers lately and I would love to be on a team with guys who I love talking to in the Vancouver LR. Unfortuantely, JNH and I had a falling out recently and I dont think we're on good enough terms to try to be on a team together.

12. Dragons
Sorry Ferdy, Jala, Cail, and Ofie, even though I love you guys it wouldn't be worth being in an LR with Gorlab. You guys are promising and all that, hiring Esa as your new GM was definetly the right move, but Gorlab thought me trying to help him meant we werent friends anymore and that means he + I = a toxic environment I dont think anyone wants at this time.

13 & 14. :admirals: Stampede

I cant accurately place either team until I know how the expansion draft goes and how everything plays out. I like JP and Brandon both but I wouldnt put my eggs into either basket until I have more info on their teams

I love that half of the rankings that have HAM toward the middle say something like "I hate this team, but Tanner and co. bring it up to here." Hopefully, given time, people can see that this team is an absolutely wonderful place to be. Smile

Best of luck wherever you end up, man. Cheers

Hahahaha I just realized when I edited a certain sentence I forgot to re-add the part with you in it! Lemme see if I can remember what I wrote and add it again

EDIT: This isnt exactly what I had, but it was generally the point I was trying to get across.
