Contract Void Clauses
#1

So about these clauses...

Code:
Contract can be terminated if X and X are no longer GMs

This isn't the only example of it, plenty of other teams have these clauses if their GM steps down, they get to renegotiate their contract or just gtfo. Since there was some discussion about it in the signing thread, maybe it is time to talk about it?

Thoughts on whether or not this should be allowed or not?

It's been brought up in HO as well, but all viewpoints are welcome!

It shouldn't be allowed. If you don't want the risk of playing for a diff GM, don't sign such long term contracts.

I don't actually have a strong viewpoint (even as a person with said clause, haha). If there's GM turnover and a person would like to make a polite and hasty exit, I want there to be a way for that to happen. But whether that's limited to short contracts or we allow GM-based void clause...either is fine with me as long as there's a firm and equally-enforced rule on it.

Maybe we say that no void clauses are allowed--if you're in a 3-year to get the hometown discount, well, your GMs get at least a season to try to talk you out of leaving, or to make a trade with you, before you hit the road. Might've changed the situation in Seattle a little bit.

Side question: how are these clauses different from stuff like the Lucky 4?

GroupMeIsKindOfOkay and his list of teams that are "allowed" to draft him. I'm assuming the main reason for eliminating folks is due to players being in a LR. It's in the same vein as being a part of an organization until certain people leave the team.

They're stupid, sign a long term deal and feel the consequences. Also can we ban "non waivable NTCs" because it is literally the fucking dumbest thing I've ever heard of and serves no purpose other than taking a passive aggressive dig at a few teams in the signing thread

Somebody could still draft him legally. Not likely, but could just be used as trade bait.

the thing is ... the rookie could never accept a deal and can re-enter in the next draft! as example!

Pretty sure that all teams are allowed to draft him but it's just a warning that he'll make the other teams regret it if they do :-?

in my opinion ... an rookie should be forced for an entry level contract ... that means 3 seasons! after that ... he will be UFA and he can do what he want
