Being a rookie can be tough--learning to fit in on a new team, finding your way around a new city, adjusting to the standards and expectations of a new league. Having the support and encouragement of your new teammates can make all the difference.
Time for some team bonding! Task Written option: Reach out to a veteran in your LR (either a senddown or an alum) and get to know them a little better. To get full credit, you must ask at least 3 questions (of them, or of their player). There is no word count for this task, but questions should require more than just a yes/no answer. Graphic option: Create a magazine cover teasing an interview with you and a veteran player on your team. Must include 2 player renders and your team's logo. Reward 4 TPE for doing the thing. (Just one, not both.) Only S39 SMJHL Rookies (S40 SHL Rookies) are eligible for this PT. You cannot claim TPE for this PT until a post is made in the global claim thread. Asked Julian O'Sullivan these 3 questions...
1) What do you love about Vancouver, 2) Why do YOU think we'll win it all, 3) And what you think of the draft? --------------------------------- 1) I love the camaraderie and the team spirit in Vancouver. We have a great lockerroom and everyone seems very friendly. I am also very happy with our GMs and knowing a few of the players already helped me get settled in. 2) Well, I think we have a great roster of players altogether, and hopefully I myself can be very good in my Sophomore year in goal. I think if my year can be solid, I can help our team a lot and help push us into the playoffs and beyond. 3) I think our team had a fantastic draft. We added some great players that will help our team a lot. Hopefully they can stay active and contribute long-term and fill some of the holes we had. ![]() Registered Member
For this opportunity, I interviewed user <a href='index.php?showuser=2281' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-17'>CampinKiller</a>, a two time Colorado Mammoth alum and current member of the Texas Renegades.
1. What season did you join the Mammoths and how long did you play for them? CampinKiller: “I was traded to Colorado from PGF in S35, and played with them until S38, when I was called up unexpectedly. It was actually my second stint in Colorado, as my first player played for Colorado after I was drafted in S30.†2. What can a new player expect going into his first season? CampinKiller: “Honestly, a new player can expect to see their player struggle early in the season (in most cases) and then take off in the second half of the season as they improve and catch up to the veterans in the SMJHL.†3. What advice would you give to a young player, both to succeed in the SMJHL and the SHL? CampinKiller: “One big piece of advice I’d give to younger players is to not take how they are performing too heavily, especially early on in your career once you make it to the SHL. Most players aren’t going to be superstars within 2 seasons of being called up, so expecting to be one, and then being disappointed or start burning out because you aren’t, is not a good expectation to have. Just keep plugging it and you’ll start seeing results. In the interim, have fun with your teammates, because they’re what makes the site fun.†![]() Registered S18, S23, S27, S34, S37, S46 Challenge Cup Champion
thank you <a href='index.php?showuser=2723' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-3'>cpetrella</a> for your time and this short interview:
1. What are your hobbies? cpetrella: IRL my main hobby is playing soccer. Been playing ever sinve i was a kid and im on a national level team. I’m going to Barcelona in February to play in a tourney. I also really enjoy anything hockey related, but I’ve never played 2. How was it for you as FA to enter the SMJHL, then drafted by Calgary and finally be traded to Edmonton? cpetrella: It was a ride for sure, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. It gives my player a nice story and gave me the opportunity to meet and communicate with a lot of great people that I might not have had the chance to meet otherwise. 3. What are your biggest Goals in your career? cpetrella: My only goal is to have a line of Challenge Cups under my avatar. 4. Who was your mentor? (Bonus question) cpetrella: TDZ was my mentour, who was extremely helpful as soon as I signed with STL. Big thanks to him for helping me with everything in the beginning.

I talked to current knights Defenseman <a href='index.php?showuser=2888' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-3'>CptSquall</a>
1)When did you get drafted Knights and did you know they were taking you? I was taken in the 5th Round 37th OA. Thought it was a long shot as Kegs and JK seemed more active in talking about me going to Montreal or St. Louis. 2)What is your favorite moment while on the knights? After getting on in the LR here with all the Physt Jokes my first Regular season Game was a 2 point night even though my build was defensive and physical. Earned my only Star to date. 3)What can a rookie expect in their first season? Camaraderie, LOTS of build advice when asked. All the highs and lows of a real team. That excitement of learning who the guys/gals are here and their reputation around the site, as well as the Knight's team reputation I also talked to Knights winger <a href='index.php?showuser=2897' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-3'>AssPancakes</a> 1)When did you get drafted Knights and did you know they were taking you? I was drafted 2nd round 14th overall. After talking to lord Samee I knew when I was being drafted as well as when Fenton Uriel and Max Poulin were going to be picked. Reason why I knew was in order to get all the tpe for the mock draft so having insider info was great. 2)What is your favorite moment while on the knights? Favorite moment was Thunder Doming alumni Clint Eastwood for being a bruins fan. Never forget Fuck Clint 3)What can a rookie expect in their first season? You can expect to mess up a few times in doing the tasks, and claiming things properly. It will get better over time. Remember to ask for help and stuff from your coaches. Staying active is huge as well. Don’t expect to be a point per game player until maybe your 2nd season. ![]() Registered Senior Member

1) How would you describe the general attitude of the Falcons? Both the players and the franchise as a whole The franchise is phenomenal, the management is great, the players are active and made me feel at home when i joined. 2) What advice would you give to a young rook like myself? Be yourself, Detroit is a scary city if you don’t make friends you may or may not be eliminated from the world. Oh yeah and never trust anyone 3) how do you think this upcoming season will go for Detroit? The cup is ours. If we somehow manage to not get it we will take it... forcefully. ![]() ![]() Registered Posting Freak
I interviewed Conner Tanner of the Montreal Militia.
1- What advice would you give a rookie? C.T-Take advantage of your mentors and teammates if you’re feeling overwhelmed with the site or anything, they were all overwhelmed and confused at one point and will almost always be willing to help. 2-How long have you played for Montreal and your greatest memory? C.T-I played for Montreal three seasons and the best memory I have is our game 6 win over Halifax in season 37 to advance to the Four Star cup finals, even though we ended up losing in the finals, just to get there as the sixth seed felt special. 3- what are your thoughts on the future of the Militia after this years draft? C.T-Drodger and I went into this draft a little bit concerned for the seasons following this one, but a fantastic draft has set us up for continued success I feel. With enough practice and effort I believe our current roster can compete for a cup both this season and beyond now. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Registered Junior Member
I interviewed Shmurph, GM of the Raiders
1) How long have you been a GM of the raiders, and how has the experience been? Shmurph: It's my 2nd season as GM here and it has been a real fun experience and I like it a lot. This season will be a more complete one for me since we won't be the worst team XD. There is not a lot to do when you know you'll finish last regardless. 2) How do you think you did in this most recent draft? Shmurph: I really believe we couldn't do a better job than what we did. Getting WiC and trading for Jruutu , two great players with good presence in the locker room. As well as the surprise of Iamslm falling to 9th, that's someone I expected to go in the top 6. Even all the our later drafts are good picks who I believe will stay actives. In fact I can easily see all of them going out in the first two rounds next draft. If I had to pick our top steal, it would probably be a tie between slm at 9 and linsangeles at 21. 3) How well do you think this team will do this year? Shmurph: With the guys we drafted last season having a lot more TPE, and the fresh players we just got, we will have a good team and that certainly has a shot at first place. In order for that to happen we are going try some new lines and do some research on who goes well with who. With that in place I firmly believe we can finish at the top this season. ![]() Registered S45 Challenge Cup Champion
I interviewed James Johnson/Mongoose87 from Halifax Raiders!
1. How long have you been playing in Halifax? This will be my second season, I was only drafted last year. 2. Is there anything that has come as a surprise to you while living and playing in Halifax? When you think of Canada, you think of the snowy North, of French Quebec and of Toronto. I hadn't even heard of Halifax before the draft. But here there's a really vibrant hockey culture. Halifax is crazy for the Raiders, and it's a great town to play in. 3. Who is the most annoying Raiders player to play against in the practice? Nobody but Berger. That guy can be real tricky. He's a threat to pass or to shoot, and whichever one you're prepared for, he's doing the opposite. 4. What are some of the most important things you want to see from the guy who is playing on the same pairing with you? That guy will be JT. Good communication is obviously number 1. I also like to work with a guy a little more mobile than I am. I try to get in position to block shots, it's good to have someone who can chase at the same time. 5. In general, what tips or advice would you like to give to a player like me who is just now entering the SMJHL? Look to the vets, we're here to help. And don't try to do too much. You've got to walk before you can run. ![]() Registered S27, S29 Challenge Cup Champion
Thanks to teztify for the interview!
1. What are your expectations for the Militia roster this year? I think we've all got high expectations for ourselves this year. We have a really strong returning class and a great group of rookies coming in. We have really solid players at every position, so we're looking to build on last season's success. We nearly made it back to the finals last year, and this season I'm confident we've got the talent on our roster to go further. 2. How do you think Montreal did in the SMJHL draft this year? I think we had an incredible draft. Hudec is a player we all had our eyes on and we think he fell into our lap. In the later rounds we made some really great picks, and so far everyone who we selected in the draft has been around and seem to be motivated. We've got a nice mix of players with different skills and strengths, at different positions, so I think the draft really rounded out our roster. 3. What are your personal goals for Koenig going into S39? I was really proud of my rookie season but I'm definitely hoping to build on it this year. I want to be the top defender in the SMJHL, I want to contribute offensively, and I just want to be there in the discussion for MVP at the end of the season. ![]() ![]() ![]() "“HA HA! ![]() With the draft behind us, do you think the Mammoths fixed the problems they had with their lineup in S38? I believe the Mammoths definitely fixed what they needed to fix with the S39 SMJHL draft. They’ve got plenty of depth down the wings, and Incite somehow manages to constantly find these late-draft steals. I should know, I was one of them! ![]() You were traded to Prince George near the end of the season along with other Colorado veterans. Did you have mixed feelings going there at first? Leaving Colorado wasn’t easy, to say the least. When I first arrived in Prince George, I was incredibly nervous, with not knowing anyone other than my fellow Mammoths. However, the management definitely made me feel right at home after a little while. Do you think your experience winning the Four Star Cup will help you during your first season in Seattle? I definitely think my experience in last season’s Four Star Cup playoffs will help me when I start this season with Seattle. However, I can’t really say for sure. The guys in Seattle have definitely helped me adjust to the bigger leagues, and I can’t wait to start playing for them. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Registered Posting Freak
Luuk is one of the new faces on the Colorado Mammoths but he took it upon himself to get to know a retired veteran of the Mammoths and one of the most talented players to throw on the jersey. Tracking down Zinaida Titova (<a href='index.php?showuser=2436' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-17'>galatix</a>) was no easy task. I first was told rumors she could be found in her home country of Russia, but I wasn't going to make that trek. So I asked one of her former teammates, current WKP Defender Finn Kruger, who hooked me up with her celly number. Calling Zina I found out she was actually in town but was actually down in five points throwing dice. I was surprised that the clean cut Titova had embraced her darker side. Especially the tattoo on her neck. Russian gangs are scary.
What was the most fun you had as a member of the Colorado Mammoths? When I suggested myself to become captain, it started off as a joke because I'm so used to not being picked as leadership. When it happened, I was so incredibly shocked and moved that people really thought I was captain material. I was able to mentor a couple of rookies and finally see them win a cup this past season, so I was very emotional. Had fun! Just very emo. What is your favorite thing to do with your free time? I love to read and murder people in Assassin's Creed Origins If you had to choose a city to live in permanently, would it be Denver or Kelowna? Denver, for the skiing. If you had to pick one current member of the Mammoths to be stuck on a desert island with for a month, who would it be? And why is it Gary Grease? You're putting words in my mouth! Gary Grease because he is my fellow Jets prospect and made me a beautiful sig. Thank you! But also I would take <a href='index.php?showuser=1675' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-3'>enigmatic</a> with me so we can sing and tell stories to each other. ![]() ![]() ![]() Registered Posting Freak
Thank you for <a href='index.php?showuser=2699' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-69'>Evok</a> for the answers
Q - How did you enjoy your time on the raiders? A - My time on the Raiders was a life changing experience, if i'm honest. I spent three years in Halifax and they were all so different. The first season, i was named alternate captain and we sucked so hard. I think we won 16 games. However, the next two were a dream. We reached the finals in my second season while i was captaining the team but lost to the Whalers and in my last season, i probably had the best season of my life thanks to a strong team and raffled many awards. Q - Back in your day, How do you feel the GMs did building the team A- They managed to pick the right players in my draft. I think in my first season, we only had 2 or 3 veteran in the team and the rest of us were rookies. That's a lot of rookies, but it created a strong camaraderie between us. Then in the two following draft they picked the right pieces. Q - And finally how do you feel the current GMs did in the S39 SMJHL draft A- They picked early in the draft which allowed them to pick really talented players and they even managed to get at 9oa a player they were considering way earlier on their draft board. I think 44 and Shmurph managed to pick their missing pieces for a couple of strong seasons. ![]() Registered S35 Challenge Cup Champion || DELETE

![]() How would you describe your experience as a Raider? Great. I've met a lot of really cool people from being with the Raiders. I feel pretty lucky that I was able to found a team and sort of build the team from the ground up. Winning a chmpionship in our 2nd season was pretty incredible. At that point the team was pretty much the original Raiders squad, that was a lot of fun. The most fun I had though was probably season 30. Reflieux was a send down with a couple other highly notable players like Colin Banning, Richard C. Hocolate and Blake Battle. What really stood out though was the energy of the rookie class. Players like Volkova, Isaac Kaiser, Kosonen, Pel, Komarov, Iversen... The list goes on, it was a great team and the end result was perfect. It's been a blast to watch the next generations of Raiders come through and I love that the organization has continued to be a great place for SMJHL players to develop into elite SHL talent. How do you think Halifax faired this past SMJHL draft? I think Halifax did excellent. 44 and Shmurph brought in a great mix of people who along with last seasons impressive rookie group will help the Raiders be contenders for a Four Star Cup. I'm a huge fan of Kolja and obviously McGregor has a lot of potential as well! I think the team did a great job acquiring assets that led to a very impressive haul. How would you describe the relations between Raiders alumni and current players?I think relations are very good. I can't really speak for everybody when answering this question, but I've never seen anything as far as a public fued between players/alumni in the organization. I hope that people remain connected with the team after they move on to the SHL. ![]() Registered S37, S45, S49 Challenge Cup Champion
<div align="center">Getting drafted by the Kelowna Knights was an awesome moment for me and I was super pumped to join a great team!
There are so many great people in the Discord, both current players and Alumni. One named stood out to me instantly though! Alumni <a href='index.php?showuser=2585' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-59'>Coach Biz</a> (Mike Izzy)! ![]() In my opinion he is one of the coolest members of the SHL! I haven't got to know everyone yet but just based on his forum posts I love this guy! His player is Mike Izzy #19 LW for the Calgary Dragons! The 6'0 230 pounder from Whitby Ontario plays a crucial role for a great SHL team in the Dragons. In the most recent playoffs Izzy and the Dragons went to game 6 of the Challenge Cup finals, ultimately losing to the Manhattan Rage. Izzy was #5th overall for penalty minutes in the playoffs and #10th in scoring for all Left Wingers (he shoots Right and plays RW on the 2nd PP unit). Dude plays almost 19 minutes a night for a strong team so it's easy to see he knows what's up on the ice. But I always noticed he made an effort to post in the SMJHL media section. Sometimes people are lucky to get 1-2 comments so it's nice that he takes time to come in there and spread some love. Not only that but he makes tons of great and funny content all over the site and is really active. I reached out to him on discord to see if he could answer these questions and he basically told me to go fuck myself. Yeah that's not what happened! He of course said he do it right away and he was just really nice to chat to! I am really happy he is on the Knights alumni and I hope to reach out to get to know some more people better! Let's get to the questions! If you got to pick 1 member of the SHL to spend a week in Maui with who would it be? ![]() Afternoon Mr Mack, always a pleasure sir... To be honest with ya im not a man of tropic endeavours so Maui would not be first on my list for an SHL assembly.... but i can definitely think of a bunch in here that id love to go bar hopping with. Esa, Kortesi and Danga would be a great night out of boozing and mischief! (baring TDZ pays for the bill) a round of shots and good SHL chat among Fin Kruger, Louie Garrett, Robby Phelps, Angelo O, and Sophia Bennett (which are the top 6 in my SHL draft class and people i like on the site) would be lots of fun! An Alumni Kelowna get together would be awesome!.. which could include EJ, Jenny, Langabeer, Leafer Reilly, Brother Nour and Alex Light. (along with Clint Eastwood baring he could sneak in or get in with a fake ID)... Id love to enjoy a bong session with Toe-Dragon, Slappy and Bonk as well.. that would probably end with some great laughs, good eats and suspicious scenarios. What's the last movie that brought a tear to your eye? hmmm... i watched a netflix 13 episode series called 13 reasons why... episode 13 was tough television to watch. and on a SHL note.. Kelowna losing to Detroit on the final day of the season in S36 to kick us out of the playoffs and end my SMJHL career was rough .. i opened the box score and saw an Izzy line of 0-0-0-0-0-21:30 .... i knew i let my LR mates down with that stinker. What is your players best feature in your eyes? By feature if you mean the way he plays... then it's easily his ability to lay the wood... Izzy is an ice-cold hitter that makes no apologies about his abrasive behavior on the ice. he walks out there and looks to cause grief, no matter who its against. BUT.. if you're talking feature as in physical feature... id say Izzys machismo (if that is a feature) there's a swagger about the way Wilson, Coach_B and Izzy does there bizness, one does his thing on the ice, the other 2 on the virtual... it's a tri-fecta of cohesiveness.. if you will. Huge thank you and much love sent to you Mike Izzy! Thank you for the awesome responses! Keep being you and we will keep basking in your glow! ![]() |
